......... Silent Night.........

Well, maybe not so silent when there's a cat about who wants to be fed.

Join us in the run up to Christmas 2023!

I've just realised that Munchkin's flea treatment is two weeks overdue 😬 I'd got mixed up between worming tablets and flea stuff and thought we had three months. Hopefully as it's so wet and cold, the fleas are diminished. I can't pick it up until Weds AM but she won't be going out tomorrow as I'm out all day and don't want her left outside all day. Cat flap fitting on Thurs, all being well.

Two of mine tentatively sizing up the tree to see how long it'll take them to wreck it.

2 of them? 3 seconds, tops.

Velvet hasn’t made any attempt on ours yet, possibly she’s unfamiliar with Christmas trees as “scratching posts, but much more exciting”. It’s been unwisely placed in one of her designated rooms so I’ve left it to tinsel and lights.

Had a very fluey day today, V has had a bit of play but mostly had to attack the stairs to amuse herself. She was reserved but moderately friendly to my sister and her boyfriend but spent most of the day on the bed with me. I’m quite reassured, particularly as she chose the same side of the room as I did for television watching - she LOVES television and today paid intense attention to House with me, before startling from sleep at bird noises during French murdering when my parents joined the party.

Karl came in this morning wearing a 'modesty leaf'. I feel it's rather becoming 😁

Very Renaissance statue of him, @Grumpyoldpersonwithcats!

TwigTheWonderKid · 05/12/2023 10:22

Not our main tree but debating whether to put decorations on it or just get some more cats?

RumNotRun · 05/12/2023 10:37

@TwigTheWonderKid more cats of course!

Grumpy, that reminds me of those jewel things you can get to cover cats' bottoms. amzn.eu/d/1mUXtVW

It's utterly charming, Grumpy.

Do you think Sybil told him to cover his bits for once?

Velvet has decided you are her person, Cecile. You're her mummy. She trusts you and is securely attached to you.
Lovely to see little Nemo all grown up.
Loving Karl's modesty leaf and all the Christmas cats.
Pleased to report that after further vet trips on Saturday and yesterday (bill now £1,300), Matt seems to be doing ok. I was really worried about him yesterday as he wasn't eating and wasn't weeing, and was very quiet. I'm wary of speaking too soon but he perked up after an injection of antibiotics and some more meds. He's eating again and has done a big blood stained wee on the floor this morning. Not too worried about it being blood stained because he's so sore and has had catheters, just glad to see him wee.

LostCats · 05/12/2023 11:41

Oh Paper I’m so so glad to hear Matt seems a bit perkier!

TheShellBeach · 05/12/2023 11:42

Poor old Matt, Papergirl. He's been through it, hasn't he?
But so glad to hear he's improving, even though your bank balance is diminishing.

Sending love and (((hugs))) to you and Matt, Paper. I'm glad he's perked up, but it doesn't stop the worry. 💐

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 05/12/2023 12:22

Pleased to hear Matt is showing signs of improvement. Fingers crossed he continues to make good progress. 💐

CeciledeVolangesdeNouveau · 05/12/2023 12:29

@Papergirl1968 really glad to hear about Matt. About the bloodstained wee, it might be worth a Google on the antibiotics he’s been given? I don’t know about cats but humans can definitely have blood-red wee after a course of certain antibiotics and it’s not really blood, if it’s just that it might alleviate at least one of your worries?

Re Velvet, I’m not sure if I’m her mummy so much as she’s mine! She does that little trill you get with queens who have kittens with me very often coupled with telling me pretty clearly for a cat that it’s playtime, it’s mealtime, it’s fuss time (complete with gentle reminders of where she wants stroking and helping me reach them), then keeping an eye on me once she’s worn out to make sure I don’t get up to mischief!

CeciledeVolangesdeNouveau · 05/12/2023 16:07

I know I post too much but Velvet is basically the main thing in my life atm apart from my boyfriend - she’s the reason I get up and do anything really after months of deep depression.

Had to get a cab to my hospital appointment today. Velvet had just started stirring and doing her “want to play” signs including using her cat scratch, hiding under things, a specific meow. I sadly had to shut the door on her and go to hospital. When I got back I entered my very dark room - it has one small window and at this time of year barely gets any natural light. When I turned around to survey my bed, it was a scene straight out of a horror film - who should be there but a silently gazing little cat? (If you get that reference you’ll get it). She then proceeded to lead me through the house chatting away as usual - I thought she wanted me to give food, more fuss - she obviously got fuss as soon as she got up - or play but she wanted to lead me to the catflap to show me her new trick of, well, using the catflap. She’s about as elegant as an eel trying to enter the combination of a safe but never mind that. When she got back she couldn’t wait for the praise and fuss (and possibly a few Dreamies) and promptly repeated her new trick! Very proud of her and she’s very adorable.

RumNotRun · 05/12/2023 17:25

Good news about Matt @Papergirl1968 I hope he continues to get better.

Fred and I are cuddling ready for the Octopus saving hour that starts in a few minutes. We turn all our electric off so what else is there to do but like in the dark and have cat cwtches.

More adventures of the amazing velvet: she’s developed her career as a jazz musician (piano not tuned since 2005 but she’s giving her best) and quietly took the only soft ornament I’d hung on the tree to play with. I love that cat tattoo @TheShellBeach ! Very striking eyes.

Love these pics.

Here’s Poppy eyeing up the Xmas tree. She also miaowed at it but so far pretty disinterested in it.

Not remotely Christmassy, but since it’s summer here it never feels like Christmas to me anyway. However, here’s Daisy, settled in for some lap time, having decided the new arrangement is acceptable.

nettie434 · 06/12/2023 06:27

Glad to hear Matt is feeling better, Papergirl1968.

Please don't think you post too much Cecile. Velvet's fans need their updates!
