Cat missing for 12 days

user1471538283 · 02/07/2022 08:33

I am so upset. Our beautiful DGirlcat has been missing for 12 long days.

She likes an adventure but the longest she has been gone is 36 hours. She is so friendly and sweet.

She is neutered and chipped.

I've posted flyers in mailboxes and on lamp posts, at local parks, she is on social media, I've contacted local vets, I've asked everyone I've seen. There were two potential sightings a week ago but nothing since. I'm going to post flyers further afield this weekend.

I go out later in the evening every evening to walk with Dreamies and call for her but she has never responded. I call for her in the morning when its quiet.

I cannot bear the thought that she is stuck or hurt or worse. I just dont know what to do anymore.

I hope this gives you hope x

Last year we had a cat turn up on our doorstep, he literally appeared overnight. My 3 were not happy about it! All this little fella did was cry, and want to come in. I know it goes against all the advise that people give, but we let him in, fed him and kept him safe. We also put his picture on all the local missing cat pages, and on Facebook and had an appointment to take him to the vets to check for a microchip.

The next day a lady got in touch, and the short version is that it was her cat, who had gone missing 6 months previously from their village approx 30 miles away! She came to get him there and then. She was sobbing when she collected him and so grateful. God knows where he had been all that time, and how he got so far!!

@NNSingers - I'm so sorry to hear this about your darling daughter. I hope it all goes well. What an awful time for you on top of Georgie still not home

@JennyOndioline - I'm so sorry to hear Leo still isn't home.

One of our cats went missing for 3 months, we never stopped searching for him. Then we had a phone call that he had been found on a farm a few miles away. I’ll never forget how he sunk into my arms with a sigh we he was finally handed to me.
Please don’t give up hope.

JennyOndioline · 31/10/2022 18:52

Oh @NNSingers , how I feel for you and your little daughter. Sending so much love to you all.

Thank you for the kind words @user1471538283

Thank you to everyone who has posted such supportive messages, too.

xxx

NNSingers · 01/11/2022 19:18

Thank you all for your kind words.

We had our meeting today and my dd has two heart defects, one very common and one very rare......luckily both treatable with excellent outcomes. My precious girl will need heart surgery in the new year and it's such a shame that our Georgie boy won't be around to help her through as there will be quite a few weeks of recovery. I guess it might be time to think about a new kitten.

I'm so sorry about all these missing kitties, it really is so heartbreaking and I think about it every day, as I'm sure you all do too.

Thanks to those of us giving us that little bit of hope that we may one day be reunited with our fur babies xxx

user1471538283 · 02/11/2022 08:15

@NNSingers - that sounds like really good news for your darling girl. A new kitten could be just the tonic you both need.

We still hope that our DCats come home as well. It is so painful for us all.

Hi everyone,

How is everyone doing?

I have become the owner of a beautiful new girl cat... My darling girl was picked up from the rescue centre at the beginning of the month.

It was emotional and overwhelming: the very last thing on this earth I wanted was for anyone to think that I have given up on Leo. (One of the staff at the rescue centre also has a missing cat so we could reach out to each other.)

Libby (who is five) fills my heart with so much love. She is so little and sweet! I want to protect her with everything I have.

I don't think I want to let Libby out and so far she hasn't shown any sign of wanting to go out. (Unlike Leo, who was desperate to go outside ASAP!)

Leo was/is best friends with my neighbour's cat (this cat has been grieving for Leo). My neighbour is excited about her cat possibly having a new friend, but I am really not sure what to do.

Best festive wishes to you all
xx

user1471538283 · 13/12/2022 14:06

@JennyOndioline - That is wonderful news to have Libby! She sounds wonderful! We know that you haven't given up on Leo. We haven't given up on our darlings either.

Our new DGirlcat hasn't gone out by herself yet. She goes out with me briefly for a sniff and a little bit of a run around but she is so nervous she runs back in. When we move, we will get a cat flap and maybe she will be okay going outside herself (so she can just run back in then). But it is a huge worry.

Maybe Libby will be the same. If they are nervous maybe they do not wander? Our DGirlcat1 was very confident. It is hard to know what to do for the best.

In actual fact local to me a cat turned up 3 years after he went missing so I keep hoping for my DGirlcat and your lovely darlings to return.

Has your cat turned up yet? I have two cats and would be absolutely devastated if either went missing. Is your missing cat microchipped - so that if Puss is found, a check of the microchip will reeal the owner's name and address.

Also, although it's not compulsory, my cats also wear a collar and ID disc identical to the ID disc my dog has to wear (by law).

Mumsgirls · 13/12/2022 20:42

I had a small cat turn up on me, would not go away, so kept him in overnight and fed him. Contacted local vets and that day had three phone calls of people with lost pets. Third lady described him exactly and came to collect him in tears. He had been spooked by a dog, kept running and got lost five miles from home. Clever enough to pick my house. His cat slaves retuned with a thank you card and gift. I had no cat at the time, but had to do the right thing

JennyOndioline · 14/12/2022 18:29

Thank you @user1471538283 - I have been thinking about you and everyone in this thread, and our fur babies. I love hearing about your new DGirlcat!

@cobden28 - Leo is microchipped.

Here is hoping that 2023 (if not earlier!) will bring us all the news and reunions we desire.

The posts on this thread have really helped me through the horrendous and uncertain times.

Merry Christmas all. xx

user1471538283 · 14/12/2022 19:24

@cobden28 - no they haven't returned. It is heartbreaking.

@JennyOndioline - yes I really hope the new year heralds their returns.

Happy Christmas to everyone! X

I feel your pain, it's devastating. If you've got any of their used cat litter then spread it wide and far in all directions leading back to your home. I've seen it work, honestly. Hope you find your little fur baby soon. x

user1471538283 · 14/12/2022 19:52

@Zax - thank you for your kind words. I did the used litter thing and everything I could think of including hiring professionals.

I just continue to hope. It's been nearly 6 months 😢

Feel your pain all, bout 4-5 months of our gone missing. Just cant get over It! So strange to me how i feel this way for an animal! X

user1471538283 · 09/01/2023 18:34

And now it's the New Year and she's still not home. It will be 7 months soon. I just want her home.

I hope some of you have had some good news x

I just thought to post again to hope you've had some good news.

We haven't and we will be moving out of the area in about 5 weeks. We have to move as I'm buying somewhere. But this means that our only hope is if she turns up and someone takes her to the vet to check her chip. I haven't once seen her but I look every time I'm out, at least once a day.

I still just cannot believe it.

OP posts:
JennyOndioline · 14/03/2023 17:49

Oh @user1471538283 , I wish I could give you a hug.

I’m afraid there is no news from me. I have been dreaming about Leo recently! I definitely feel that he is still alive and perhaps he is on a farm somewhere. It’s hard to believe that it has been so long (31st August 2022).

My driving instructor recently told me about her Mum’s cat who returned after two years!

I will never forget the kindness that people have shown: from sharing Facebook posts to actively searching. Leo, if you are out there, you’ve got a community looking for you (gosh, I am getting emotional typing this!).

Good luck with your move, and here is hoping with all my heart that one of your next posts in this thread will tell of a happy reunion x

sarahh96 · 14/03/2023 17:58

Don't give up hope OP. My boy went missing for 3 months, eventually someone spotted him 20 miles away. I'd registered him on the missing pets website and luckily someone saw him.
I totally understand how you are feeling, it's the not knowing that's the worse.
Will keep my fingers crossed she comes home ❤️

NNSingers · 15/03/2023 18:04

I'm so sorry to hear your babies haven't returned.

Our Georgie has never returned either, I'm not even sure if he had ever officially been spotted since he went missing on the 23rd July last year. I think of him everyday and gaze out the windows hoping that one day he will be sitting in the garden looking at me and wanting to be fed. We all miss him dreadfully still.

We have a new little girl cat called Fleur, she is wonderful but Georgie was one in a million and completely irreplaceable.

I also still think he's alive, anything else is too upsetting, I just hope he's happy and being looked after wherever my precious boy is.

Sending love and hugs to you all xx

GonzoGonzo · 16/03/2023 12:21

Hi All,
No good news from me either. It must be over 8 months now i guess. Still look out for her when im out. Never a day when i don't think about her but almost certain she wont be coming back. I think she was stolen as quite a desirable/expensive cat. Can only hope she is happy. I do regret not protecting her more as the signs where there with her getting into mischief in her short time with us.

Thinking of you all.

user1471538283 · 17/03/2023 09:56

I'm so sorry your darlings haven't returned and thank you for your kind words and thoughts.

I'm still so so upset as are you. X

Hi everyone,

I thought to check in again to see how everyone is and if there is any news.

The house buying process took much longer than I thought but I completed today and we will be moving in about 4 weeks. I'm so upset to leave just in case she's close by.

DGirlcat2 is so lovely and a home body. She offers some comfort but I just want my girl home as well.

X
