Cat missing for 12 days

user1471538283 · 02/07/2022 08:33

I am so upset. Our beautiful DGirlcat has been missing for 12 long days.

She likes an adventure but the longest she has been gone is 36 hours. She is so friendly and sweet.

She is neutered and chipped.

I've posted flyers in mailboxes and on lamp posts, at local parks, she is on social media, I've contacted local vets, I've asked everyone I've seen. There were two potential sightings a week ago but nothing since. I'm going to post flyers further afield this weekend.

I go out later in the evening every evening to walk with Dreamies and call for her but she has never responded. I call for her in the morning when its quiet.

I cannot bear the thought that she is stuck or hurt or worse. I just dont know what to do anymore.

I’m so sorry to hear about your missing cats. Have you all joined local Facebook groups and put out photos? Praying 🙏 that they return home safely.

@LarissaRose - I am so sorry. Our council claims it scans but I'm not convinced. I keep trying but nothing at all about our darling girl.

It is so stressful and upsetting.

@MondaysChild7 - I've done everything possible. Facebook groups, searching, hiring Animal Search, posters, asking people. And she is nowhere to be found

JennyOndioline · 25/09/2022 11:09

Hi,
How is everyone doing?
My Leo is still missing (since 1st September) and I am pretty wrecked by it all.
The suspected sighting was of another cat (this cat actually leafleted with me a little the other evening).
Leo's buddy cat (who lives across the road in our cul-de-sac) is outside right now.
People are encouraging me to get another cat but I don't want it to look like I have given up on Leo. I am also scared of something like this happening again.
Wishing you all love and strength, and I hope you have received good news. xx

NNSingers · 25/09/2022 11:19

@JennyOndioline I'm so sorry your Leo is still missing. I completely sympathise with you and everything you're feeling. It was 2 months on Friday that my darling Georgie went out and hasn't been seen since. Multiple possible sightings haven't been him, and each time my heart just breaks. People keep saying that no news (him not being found dead) is good news but it's so so hard to remain hopeful. There is still every chance that your Leo will be back, I was still so hopeful a month in and I pray so much that you get some good news soon. My head says give up but my heart won't let me. My daughter is an only child and Georgie was her 'brother' so that just makes me sadder. She is desperate for another kitten as wants a pet to cuddle, but I'm not ready. Sending love, support and hugs your way and to all of you missing your fur babies xxx

NNSingers · 25/09/2022 11:20

@Creepymanonagoatfarm thanks for giving us hope ☺️

JennyOndioline · 25/09/2022 18:26

Oh, @NNSingers ! How I feel for you and your daughter! I am so thinking of you both and your Georgie, and how I hope that your future posts will tell of a reunion! Sending so much love and strength to you, and the biggest hugs! Thank you also for your kind words.

I live alone and it can be excruciating without Leo. I got home from work the other afternoon and just cried because he wasn't there. I am feeling weepy now typing this...

hugs again to you and to everyone in this position xxx

Maximo2 · 25/09/2022 20:47

From me too, sending strength to you all and wishing like mad that we’ll see happy posts soon xx

NNSingers · 25/09/2022 20:52

@JennyOndioline I'm so sorry that you're going through this heartbreak alone. The not knowing is awful isn't it. I work from home now and once my husband has gone to work and I've dropped my daughter at school I just come home and gaze out the window in tears, wondering what on earth happened to me sweet boy. Just heartbreaking.

Let's hope that these wonderful kitties are returned to us soon. You do hear so many good news stories, I'm praying ours will end in the same way. Thank you for your kindness xx

user1471538283 · 26/09/2022 14:19

Our darling DGirlcat is still missing. Between her being missing and DBoycat dying of cancer I've been crying every day.

I constantly question the last time I saw her. Supposedly not finding her dead is good news but where could she be? Its been 3 months.

I hope they all come home soon x

@user1471538283 I am so sorry to read this. How sad to have lost both your babies. Praying your girl comes home to comfort you soon. Sending hugs xx

Pudmyboy · 26/09/2022 22:43

💐@user1471538283 so sorry she has stayed away so long, really hope you have good news soon. And so sorry you have lost your boy. So much heartbreak. As the late Queen said: grief is the price we pay for love.

user1471538283 · 09/10/2022 10:00

As an update DGirlcat still isnt home and I'm worried about the winter. The longer it takes the more I think maybe something did happen.

Even though I swore I would not adopt again we have. DGirlcat2 had a really rough start in life, is very nervous but stunning. I just couldnt leave her in the rescue. I keep telling her her sister will be home.

As much as I love DGirlcat2 I miss my girl terribly.

NNSingers · 09/10/2022 10:08

I feel exactly the same as you @user1471538283. I'm so sorry your darling girl isn't home, my Georgie isn't either. I have days of being convinced he must have died and then other days of feeling hopeful, funnily enough I was just gazing out into the garden while making a coffee and the tears were rolling down my face as I just miss him so very much,

I am in the same place as you and feel like I need to get another cat to help me and my daughter start to feel a bit brighter. There are so many cats that need good homes and I enquired with a cat rescue place but they rejected me as we live fairly close to a main road, I was just heartbroken all over again. I really hope we can give a cat a wonderful new home, we have love in abundance to give, and I hope and pray that Georgie comes back to us one day. I keep dreaming that the cat flap goes and he comes strolling in Sad.

Tell us more about your darling girl number 2, is she giving you comfort?x

user1471538283 · 09/10/2022 13:13

@NNSingers - I'm so sorry about Georgie. I just dont think whatever happens you or I will get over this.

We live fairly close to a main road and we adopted DGirlcat2 via RSPCA. We had to fill in a form, take photographs of where we live and the equipment for her so it was such a long process. She was found in a very bad way with 4 dogs. She is tiny and nervous. She does offer us some comfort because she is really different from DGirlcat you remember how different the personalities are.

You could maybe try smaller rescues? When we went to pick up DGirlcat2 the place was absolutely full to the brim with cats and kittens and loads were out to foster.

Oh @user1471538283 and @NNSingers - so much love to you both.

My Leo is still missing. A lovely lady phoned me a couple of evenings ago convinced that she had seen him. I went with the pet carrier (to be honest, I wasn't too sure it was Leo because of his lookalike cat). The cat wasn't Leo and the lady was so apologetic. (I am grateful that people are looking for him and the lady was so kind.)

Sometimes I don't want to get out of bed. The slightest noise has me on alert: could this be my Leo outside?

It breaks my heart also to see how Leo's cat friend of many years (who lives across the road) is missing him.

My family is encouraging me to get another cat. I have a huge cat shaped hole in my heart. My local rescue has many cats available. It is hard: I would be so scared of something like this happening again. I also think of going to the rescue where I met Leo that first time... (Gosh, this is emotional!)

Sending so much love to you both and your families, and to everyone in this situation, and here is holding out for the happy endings. (People are urging me to be positive.)
xxx

@JennyOndioline - I'm so sorry about Leo. Having our DGirlcat2 hasnt made me miss either of them any less.

I've nearly accepted losing DBoycat but I can never get past DGirlcat.

I used to constantly think I could hear her little squeak but that hadn't happened for a little while.

We just carry the hurt in our hearts dont we.

I’m so sorry to read that so many lovely cats aren’t home yet. I’m an earlier poster on this thread and I did have a happy ending for my story, so I really am sending all of that positive luck your way.

I wanted to pop in and share this story from my village this week. A couple of weeks ago a very beautiful but quite scruffy puss turned up at a house down my road. The owner posted about him on the local FB page, asking if anyone knew him. He was super friendly and spent lots of time out on her driveway accepting fuss. After a few days with no luck finding a local owner, she took him in to the vet to have his chipped scanned. Turns out he was 19 miles away from home, and had been missing for six years!! He’s now been reunited with his family (who are absolutely baffled as to how he made it this far - presumably not via the major arterial motorway between here and there!) It’s such a heartwarming story but of course sad for his family who have been without him for six years, no doubt going through the same heartache so movingly described in this thread.

How is everyone?

Still no news about DGirlcat and I cannot get past it. DGirlcat2 is a joy and I do love her but my darling was exactly that, mine.

Sending you all hope and love x

Hi @user1471538283

I am so sorry you haven't had any news.

My Leo is still missing. Some days are more bearable than others. I am telling myself that he will come home if he can.

I received a phone call a couple of weeks ago from a lady who thought she had found Leo's (decomposed) body on a local cycle path. It wasn't Leo (I think it was a dead rat) but I was very shaken afterwards and it made me think that I don't want to know if he is dead. I want to think that he is out there living his best life somewhere!

Sending so much hope and love and strength xxx

I'm so sad to hear everyone is still without their fur babies. Our Georgie had never been found or come home, it's just heartbreaking,
Unfortunately this has now been overshadowed by the fact that my darling daughter (aged 6) has been doing to have a hole in her heart and will need surgery. Georgie was her best friend and more than anything she (and I) could do with him around to help us through this horrible horrible time. Life can be pretty tough sometimes 😞xxx

NNSingers · 29/10/2022 21:54

*found to have a hole in her heart
