Cat missing for 12 days

I am so upset. Our beautiful DGirlcat has been missing for 12 long days.

She likes an adventure but the longest she has been gone is 36 hours. She is so friendly and sweet.

She is neutered and chipped.

I've posted flyers in mailboxes and on lamp posts, at local parks, she is on social media, I've contacted local vets, I've asked everyone I've seen. There were two potential sightings a week ago but nothing since. I'm going to post flyers further afield this weekend.

I go out later in the evening every evening to walk with Dreamies and call for her but she has never responded. I call for her in the morning when its quiet.

I cannot bear the thought that she is stuck or hurt or worse. I just dont know what to do anymore.

My pet insurance with Sainsburys apparently has £1500 of cover for advertising and a reward - have bought the top campaign that Animal Search do,doesn't cover an actual search though. I'm so sorry they couldn't find yours, OP.

Gone hairing off to two false sightings today. At least people are looking.

user1471538283 · 02/09/2022 21:28

@Maximo2 - I had the actual ground search as well but they didnt find her and I expected them to. I had some potential sightings but I dont know if they were actually her.

I hope it works for you!

Feeling for everyone here in the same position tonight with the same constant anxiety. Just doesn’t go away. Horrible 😔

LarissaRose · 08/09/2022 20:26

I'm in the same boat 😥my ginger boy went missing 10 days ago and its so unlike him, ibe handed our flyers , posters, offered reward, social media etc and nothing . I have 3 cats and my girl Cindy came home brushed and groomed (long hair) yesterday so I'm thinking maybe someone around here has taken my ginger Gordon in and now trying to take my Cindy too 😥im so upset without him. Had a prank call pretending to have found him from vets and was so convincing until he wanted my bank details over the phone for a discharge fee... so angry! I just miss him so much. I pray all our lost kitty's come back 🙏 seems to me like in my area alot of ginger cats go missing 😓dreading Xmas this year without him x

Maximo2 · 08/09/2022 21:55

I’ve had lots of sightings - but all for different black cats, there are four in our road alone. Then tonight a heartbreaking wait for an hour while someone identified a run over black cat they’d found, so distressing for everyone involved. At least people are looking. It’s hell juggling work,
life and constant hopes dashed over and over.

I can’t believe someone would try to scam you, LarissaRose, that’s just evil. I hope you are okay and that karma gets these horrible people. Hope your little one comes home soon x

Glitterspy · 08/09/2022 21:59

Totally understand your pain, it’s absolutely horrible when they wander.

To give hope, our boy wandered off during the very hot weather when our housesitter “forgot” to feed him and let her dog chase him away.

He was gone for nearly 3 weeks. One day, my daughter shouted (from upstairs) “Cat’s here!” …he had just wandered back in. He was very thin, didn’t eat properly for a week and and has barely gone out since - wherever he went we don’t know, but you can tell he’s very happy to be home. Don’t give up hope!

user1471538283 · 08/09/2022 22:08

I too had scam calls from teenagers. They were vile and it is a shame they were gone by the time we got to them. I wanted to drag them home to explain to their parents exactly what they've raised.

My darling girl is still not home. The weather here is awful and I keep imagining her out in it. It has been 2 and a half torturous months now with no new leads for weeks.

Our babies have got to come home!

@LarissaRose - Animal Search told me not to offer a reward because it might encourage calls. My calls were when I had my own number on posters. People are just horrible sometimes.

@Maximo2 - you must have felt sick going through that.

@Glitterspy - how wonderful!

@user1471538283 I’m so sorry there has been no news, it’s just awful. I replaced all my posters with Animal Search ones so all my calls come through them or on my Facebook post. They put a reward on my posters, they didn’t warn me off, but it doesn’t say how much. I put £500 on Facebook, insurance covers it. No good having great insurance without Loki though 🤣

Maximo2 · 08/09/2022 22:28

Thanks for your hopeful words, @Glitterspy ❤️

Glitterspy · 08/09/2022 22:41

Cats are very resourceful and won’t sit out in the wet/heat if they can help it.

If they were injured or run over they’d be found and you’d get a call from the vet. If they were in pain, someone would hear them and help.

Try not to torture yourself and stay positive if you can.

Maximo2 · 10/09/2022 14:40

Loki is home! He turned up this afternoon, no collar, starving and dusty and very vocal, clearly been shut in somewhere. We are so so relieved. ❤️

Hoping with all my heart that the same happens with your baby, @user1471538283 x

user1471538283 · 10/09/2022 16:02

@Maximo2 - I am delighted for you! That is just incredible! He is so grounded!

Me too, the days just roll by here with nothing 😢

So pleased for you @Maximo2. 7 weeks and counting here, I am out of ideas.... and tears Sad

Maximo2 · 10/09/2022 16:22

Feel for you so much, @NNSingers, such a horrible time for you xx

JennyOndioline · 15/09/2022 18:37

Hi everyone,
I just want to reach out to everyone here as my beloved cat is missing and has been missing for two weeks.
I am having an incredibly bad day today: I am crying constantly. There is literally nothing I want to hear more right now than the sound of the cat door!
My cat is five, coming up to six. He is a former rescue cat and doesn't like humans very much.
He had changed over the last couple of months: I put it down to the hot weather. He would literally come home for food and then rush back out again. It felt like something was building - I must be honest - but this is excruciating. I would not wish this on anyone.
Everyone is so kind. My neighbours are brilliant: so supportive!
There was a very probable sighting earlier this week (a lovely person took a photo and sent it to me). I am almost certain this is my boy (he is a big ginger cat). I was feeling much more positive... Only to have crashed again today. I am feeling so many emotions.
Sending so so much love to everyone and here is hoping we all get the happy endings with our cats.

NNSingers · 15/09/2022 19:20

@JennyOndioline I'm so sorry to read your post, and I can feel every bit if your despair and heartbreak. My Georgie was a very outdoorsy cat, coming in for food and his regular morning and evening cuddles. He was like clockwork. I still can't quite believe he went out that night 7 weeks ago and that was it.

It's promising that you have had a very probable sighting, have you put flyers through doors and posters up all round the area? I found my neighbours were all so supportive and responsive and did their best to try and spot my georgie for me. I still live in hope that he might be found or just come through that cat flap. I still cry every morning about him.

There are so many cats who are found or come back around the two/three week mark so remain hopeful and continue posting on social media, don't give up hope! Sending lots of love and support xx

LarissaRose · 15/09/2022 19:55

I had bad news on Tuesday (exactly 2 weeks since my precious boy went missing) the council handed his poor body in as a unowned cat as they said he hasn't got a chip and he was lying in that pet cemetery as if he was nothing for 2 weeks 😪i phoned the pet cemetery again as someone messaged me to say a ginger cat got took by the council the day I lost my boy as he was passed away on their relatives garden, they said they had 1 ginger cat handed in and it was the exact same location as what the lady said who messaged me. They went to scan him for a chip even though they said they wouldn't find one as council sent him in unowned and right away the chip number came up. The council just couldn't be bothered to even look after my cats poor body correctly. I got to say goodbye on Tuesday and give him a kiss from all his family and we get to bring him home one final time tomorrow I'm so upset 😪 I hope everyone else has their happy ending and your fur babies comes home 😘

Creepymanonagoatfarm · 15/09/2022 20:52

Can i hijack and post a pic? A dcat has been living in dd's garden for a good few weeks now. She has been trying to befriend him /her and get a vet to scan it. Posting for luck it is an mner's...

@LarissaRose I am so sorry to read you post. You must be going through such sadness at the moment. I'm pleased you are at least able to say goodbye to your beautiful baby. I'm so sorry for your loss. Sending hugs xx

JennyOndioline · 16/09/2022 12:13

Oh @NNSingers my heart hurts for you! How I feel your pain! Your love for your Georgie just shines through. I hope with all of my heart - absolutely everything I have - that your boy will be home with you so very soon indeed. I am here for you (and here if you ever want to talk) and sending such hugs. 🤗🤗🤗

I have been SO touched by people's kindness. My neighbours have driven around looking for my boy (Leo), searched with me and displayed missing posters. Facebook has also been (and is) fantastic.

SO much love to you xx

JennyOndioline · 16/09/2022 12:14

Oh @LarissaRose ! I am so sorry to hear your news! Sending so much love and strength to you xx ❤️

JennyOndioline · 16/09/2022 12:15

@Creepymanonagoatfarm - what a beautiful cat! Here is hoping for a happy ending for that cat and its owner very soon indeed xx

crossstitchingnana · 16/09/2022 12:15

There was a story last year about a cat that went missing in the Isle of Wight, it turned up in Scotland. Apparently got into the neighbour's removal van.
