Cat missing for 12 days

I am so upset. Our beautiful DGirlcat has been missing for 12 long days.

She likes an adventure but the longest she has been gone is 36 hours. She is so friendly and sweet.

She is neutered and chipped.

I've posted flyers in mailboxes and on lamp posts, at local parks, she is on social media, I've contacted local vets, I've asked everyone I've seen. There were two potential sightings a week ago but nothing since. I'm going to post flyers further afield this weekend.

I go out later in the evening every evening to walk with Dreamies and call for her but she has never responded. I call for her in the morning when its quiet.

I cannot bear the thought that she is stuck or hurt or worse. I just dont know what to do anymore.

Thank you for giving me hope Smile. Georgie is chipped so hopefully we will be reunited one day! In my head I like to think he's sitting with a little old lady, keeping her company, I can't bear to think anything bad has happened to him xx

user1471538283 · 21/08/2022 09:55

She is still not home and I'm so upset all the time. I just cannot think where she is.

I keep thinking of that morning. Maybe someone was feeding her and she moved in there? But with all the publicity they would know we are in bits looking for her.

We will be moving probably in a few months and I just feel paralysed by it all.

I've heard stories including from you lovely people of cats just turning up. I hope we are lucky as well.

I hope she and Georgie come home soon!

@user1471538283 I'm so sorry your darling girl isn't home either, it's just the worst feeling isn't it. My heart just sinks every morning when I come downstairs, his bed is there and his bowl of water and some dry food that I put out every night in case he comes back in the night 😔. I just can't think what happens to him. I watched him on the camera go out at 10pm on the first night we were on holiday and that's it, we've not seen him again. Horrible.

I'm so sorry you're going through the same thing xx

GonzoGonzo · 23/08/2022 21:35

Feel your pain. Its 1 month today for ours. Feeling fed up with it now, hate having to be on social media to Look/post.
I think i will give it till 6 weeks then give up looking.

ThierryEnnui · 25/08/2022 12:02

Hi @user1471538283 I'm in the same boat as you. My lovely girl is missing. She's been gone since Monday night, but it's so out of character for her (she's a real homebody and a scaredy cat). Have you had any news of your girl?

user1471538283 · 26/08/2022 15:58

@ThierryEnnui - I'm so sorry to hear about your girl. We haven't had any news at all for our darling.

I'm hoping that your little girl is cuddled under somewhere as apparently cats do this.

I hear tales of cats returning after months and I hope we will be lucky.

user1471538283 · 26/08/2022 16:00

@GonzoGonzo - your little cat could still come back. I know it's hard to keep on top of and keep hoping. I'm just a mess.

I just feel so sad and can't pull myself out of it. I still can't believe my Georgie just went out one night and never came back. I feel heartbroken. When do I just accept he's gone 😢, it's been 5 weeks now and I miss him so much it hurts xx

user1471538283 · 29/08/2022 11:13

@NNSingers - I don't know if I can ever accept that my girl has gone. It's been 10 weeks.

I know there are stories of cats messing about, getting lost etc but like your Georgie she went out (which was unlike her first thing) and never returned.

I'm still so upset. Like you I dont understand it.

tushywush · 29/08/2022 11:21

Oh I am so sad for those of you with missing cats. One of our young ones (18 months) went missing for 5 weeks last winter and then sadly his body was found. We were so heartbroken. And still are tbh.

I hope you have a more positive outcome, it’s so so devastating.

NNSingers · 29/08/2022 12:48

I do wonder whether my darling Georgie's body will be found at some point 😔. It's so hard to know when to accept he's gone, whether I need to keep going out at night searching, whether my desperate Facebook and next door posts are all for nothing or whether he is still out there. @user1471538283 I'm so sorry you're going through this too, it's truly heartbreaking xxx

NNSingers · 29/08/2022 12:49

@tushywush I'm sorry your baby was found and it wasn't a positive outcome for you xxx

tushywush · 29/08/2022 13:00

thank you... it was a really difficult time. I still think of him a lot, he was such a friendly, soppy, and very soft little thing. His brother missed him so much. We have since taken on a new kitten who has been a welcome addition, but even just this morning I felt a pang of big sadness that he was with us for such a short time. We had so much more love to give him and get from him...

NNSingers · 29/08/2022 13:09

@tushywush my Georgie turned 2 last week and I just feel devastated that we hardly got any time with him. He was the most kind, gentle, precious boy. And the most wonderful furry brother to my little daughter 😔. I guess in time I will start to feel a bit better but I just cry all the time at the moment.

I'm so sorry for what you went though with your baby, I hope you're other cat and kitten give you some comfort xxx

lurchermummy · 29/08/2022 16:18

If she is chipped have you kept your contact details up to date with the chip company?

user1471538283 · 29/08/2022 21:58

@tushywush - I'm so sorry, how awful.

Our girl is older but only lived with us 2 and a half years when she went missing. She had 3 families including us. She is so much my girl I just dont understand it.

@lurchermummy - yes my contact details on her chip is up to date.

I have a positive update. My girl found her way home this morning, having been missing for 10 days. She doesn't seem to have had a rough time; no injuries, healthy coat and she doesn't seem dehydrated or particularly ravenous. I'm so, so relieved. I really didn't think I'd see her again.

Will keep you all in my thoughts and pray for the return of your lovely kitties.

Maximo2 · 01/09/2022 20:00

Have found your post in sadness today, OP - our beautiful big black cat Loki has been missing since Tuesday and we are heartbroken. Have posted on every bit of social media I can think of and leafleted and knocked on doors begging people to search sheds etc. His sister Luna regularly does a 24+ flit but he always comes in at night for a purry cuddle (he only really likes a cuddle if we are asleep). Only been two nights and we miss him so much, going to go out after dark and call.

Taking heart from the positive stories here and 🤞that everyone is reunited with their babies.

GonzoGonzo · 02/09/2022 08:28

That's great news, always nice to see the good news stories when they return. Any idea where She/he Went? No news on ours. Its coming up 6 weeks so low chance at this stage.

user1471538283 · 02/09/2022 08:54

@ThierryEnnui - what wonderful news! I wonder if she had been fed elsewhere?

@Maximo2 - it is so stressful. I really hope Loki comes home really soon!

I've contacted Animal Search UK because during the team's on the ground search only one house would not listen to them. I'm suspicious thinking maybe they have her? Or I am going mad with worry and grief.

OP posts:
ThierryEnnui · 02/09/2022 09:46

@GonzoGonzo Absolutely not a clue where she went! I only moved into my new place a few weeks ago, so I was terrified she wouldn't be able to find her way home as unfamiliar with smells, sights etc. So it feels nothing short of a miracle that she was alive after 10 days and found her way back to an unfamiliar house. She's been an indoor cat her entire life, so from about day 5 of her missing I really did think she was likely to be dead. Keeping everything crossed that you have a return soon. I know 6 weeks must feel like a lifetime.

@Maximo2 so sorry your boy has gone missing. I know exactly the awful rollercoaster of emotions you're feeling. It sounds like you've done all the right things with leafleting etc. I did the same last week and despite zero sightings, she came home, so please keep faith if you can 💐

@user1471538283 I think she must have either been fed or transformed into a prolific huntress during her stint away, as she doesn't seem to have lost any weight. She was a tiny bit matted around her front and had some burrs lodged into her fur, but really that was about it. I can't believe she's back and in good shape. I'm so sorry you still have no news of your girl.

Creepymanonagoatfarm · 02/09/2022 09:59

Our dcat was missing 6 months. One day at our local shop she was there just sitting under a tree! She went into a garden and I knocked on the door. She had been living rough and catching birds. She had a cracked tooth and was a bit skinny but was fine. Don't give up op.

Maximo2 · 02/09/2022 11:27

Thank you, OK and Thierry. I can't tell you how many neighbours told me stories of their cats and how they had all turned up after days and days. So many people knew the heartache - but all had a positive ending. Trying to hold on to those - devastated though at the same time.

Maximo2 · 02/09/2022 13:23

OP!

user1471538283 · 02/09/2022 18:17

@Creepymanonagoatfarm - that is amazing! I hope this happens!
