We’re having a litter standoff. PAH sold out of wood chip so I got non-clumping from Aldi. She keeps going to it and looking at it sadly. Just do a wee already, it’s not like it’s crystal litter that’ll hurt her paws.

TheLongRider · 23/06/2022 16:02

Peace reigns in the LongRider household. Amos has gone back to the shelter. DH and DD are sad but I'm ok. It'll be interesting to see how the other cats react.

Fluffycloudland77 · 23/06/2022 18:16

Is it a very long drive to get him back?

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 23/06/2022 18:56

I learnt something new tonight which I thought I'd share.
I have (for many years) been labouring under a misconception. I have always known that cats don't get a mention in the Bible. However I never thought to check the Apocrypha...
This evening I discovered this little gem referring to Babylonian Idols in Baruch chapter 6, (aka The Epistle of Jeremy.) See verse 22 below. 😹

We live about 3 miles from the shelter. We're going on holiday soon otherwise we'd have been going home with another foster kitten!

Fluffycloudland77 · 23/06/2022 22:23

I could pretend I know what the apocrypha is but you’d all know I’m lying.

Supersimkin2 · 23/06/2022 22:56

It’s the bits of the Bible the editor cut to make room for the pictures.

Glad the editor’s name is lost to Hebrew history, who wants to be remembered for losing a vital bit.

The editor of the Koran did better.

Supersimkin2 · 24/06/2022 08:48

Little tiny angel, sleeping the sleep of the Just.

Megapack of Dreamies missing.

Was it just to save space, or was it more cutting out the bits they didn't agree with? Like the council of Carthage, where St Augustine decreed which books were in and got rid of the rest...

He looks very content there. Completely relaxed!

Puddy used her tray after a 24hr stand off. I think I got off lightly though because Asbo would’ve just sprayed on the bed or the cooker.

Supersimkin2 · 24/06/2022 09:41

Puddy’s a lady.

No idea Allergic but pix come first. And how many pages/bits of parchment you’ve got. Or vellum - you need lots of calves🐄 for a long book like the Bible.

Fluffycloudland77 · 24/06/2022 10:04

They probably cut the bits about women being equal first and took it from there 😹

Papergirl1968 · 24/06/2022 10:18

Looks like Prince has settled in well!
I love watching my two sleeping. Matt was sprawled across the foot of the bed when I woke up yesterday and Socks likes to cuddle up by me, preferably with my arm around her, even in a heatwave!

Toddlerteaplease · 24/06/2022 10:51

@Grumpyoldpersonwithcats the Archiepiscipusses Betty and Zena are delighted to read that. They are very religious cats.

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 24/06/2022 10:51

I do like Super's description of the Apocrypha. 😁
And yes, outrageous that cats missed an opportunity to be in Bible pictures. I now have a mental image of cat and a bat (or maybe a cat and an owl) perched on a statue of a random deity.

Fluffy - In Protestant Bibles you'll find the Apocrypha (when included) between the Old and New Testaments.
They were the bits not quite good enough to be considered fully canonical, but still thought to be useful. Catholics generally hold them in rather higher esteem than Protestants.
A slightly different translation (from my elderly Geneva Bible) below.

That’s some beautiful type there Grumpy.

Prince and Havelock have looked at each other and run away. Peace reigns.

Fluffycloudland77 · 24/06/2022 18:10

Who ran away first?

HouseofHolbein · 24/06/2022 18:18

I'm supposed to be getting changed to go out after my phone call to mom. Think Gomez has other ideas.

Oh bloody hell - it's burr season 😡

Supersimkin2 · 27/06/2022 19:47

No burr more purr!!!! Maybe Leroy would care to stand by his views with a pic.

Allergictoironing · 27/06/2022 21:37

Kitties are sulking, I've spent half of today on the phone. They are now an hour late for supper and still haven't come downstairs - possibly because I've spent that time on a call to a mate.

They will sulk even further when they find out I have a job starting in a few weeks, so will be deserting them all day again.

Don't know about standing by his views, but here he is sitting by the undergrowth where he picks up a belly full of burrs (and his bloomers full!)

Bad luck Allergic, what’s the £dreamies toll for your transgression?

Oh look at someone in his personalised designer coat… 😀

Oh I was forgiven last night, Boycat can't survive without his multiple cuddles and Girlcat was just making a point.

Out again this morning, with a Teams meeting this afternoon, then out twice tomorrow for Chiropractor & CT scan, then again out twice on Thursday - Friday & the weekend will have to be spent being VERY nice to them.

I probably could cancel the Teams meeting and at least 2 of the going outs, as they are job interviews and I HAVE been offered and accepted a really great job. But many a slip & all that, and I've lost jobs I was offered in the past due to budget or re-organisation issues. So I'm going to carry on interviewing until I get my contract!

Weird really - I've had more interviews/offers of interview in the last couple of weeks than I've had in months at other times I've been job hunting.

Following my Apocryphal explorations (and having failed to put my KJV away), Basil has decided today to make up for the paucity of cats in the Bible by being a cat on the Bible.

As an aside, one if the other verses I read in Baruch 6 made me giggle childishly. Language has changed a bit since 1611.
