Puddy would never do that as it would be competing for pod with her and she likes food. I should probably stop her demolishing this drumstick but she’s enjoying herself.

Papergirl1968 · 11/06/2022 22:10

Aww, love that story, MsOllie

OrangeBlossom28 · 11/06/2022 23:04

@MsOllie Look at the baby kitty now! That was a bonkers story with such a lovely outcome!

Supersimkin2 · 12/06/2022 09:13

Dreamies at dawn elicited a purr.

And a face rub, which is a lovely way to fall back asleep.

OrangeBlossom28 · 12/06/2022 14:39

Martha, almost 13, has lost an upper canine. We think she may have lost or when she was crunching on the bird she captured and ate on friday morning .
I'm assured by @MsOllie that it's nothing to be concerned about.

Fluffycloudland77 · 12/06/2022 15:39

It’s how they’d want to lose a canine isn’t it?

Vixen has lost both of hers and some other teeth, not by eating small creatures but by sleeping on the handrail of the stairs and then falling off. Many times. I've never known a cat sleep as hard as she does. She has finally stopped sleeping there (touch wood!) after I covered it in sellotape for a few months.

She still eats dry food, treats etc. It has made no difference except her little tongue pokes out most of the time 😂

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 12/06/2022 16:00

Sybil has had a broken canine since at least 2019 which doesn't seem to bother her at all.
I only spotted it at the time, after I took this comedy photo of her.

Ollie sneezed one out, looked surprised and then demanded breakfast Grin before he had his others removed

Fluffycloudland77 · 12/06/2022 18:20

Puddys missing half a fang. She ate a flying insect last night of some sort last night so I suppose she might’ve caught something as she used to go outside,

I can’t imagine it though as she has the hunting skills of a dumpling.

OrangeBlossom28 · 12/06/2022 19:13

I'm in two minds about whether to take her to the vet or not. She's having an annual check up and annual vaccinations next month. She's not bothered so I think we might keep a close eye on it this week and then see.

TheLongRider · 12/06/2022 19:53

My old boy lost one of his fangs last year. He wasn't bothered so I waited for his annual check up a week or so later. The vet said she couldn't have done a neater extraction herself!

He's just had his remaining upper fang removed a week ago and he's in flying form.

It will be interesting to see if Prince is happy to be an ornithologist or has designs to be an orniphage...

LostCats · 14/06/2022 10:56

I LOVE the look on his face!!

Supersimkin2 · 14/06/2022 19:25

I miss Capn horribly and am slumped in gloom. Prince is asleep so I can let myself go for a bit.

Just want a hug from the fluffy repository of my heart, and trying to comfort self with thought that his death was quick. Even in wail mode, I can see his time was up tho. I wish I’d been with him at the end.

Allergictoironing · 14/06/2022 20:05

Of course you miss him lovely, he was such a sweet cuddle monster and you've not had much time to grieve for him. You gave him a much longer & better life than he would have had without you, and much longer than the vet said he had left.

We all know Prince can't replace Cap'n, but he can hopefully fill the cat shaped hole in your home once he's settled in properly - he's only been there 5 minutes.

Thanks 🙏 Allergic. You’ve cheered me up😀

Prince has stuck all four fat white paws out of the back door

🐾 🚪 🐾

for the first time just now. He is a darling little boy - aged 2.

Got caught dragging another sack of birdseed home by my mate who pointed out how pricy it’s got and how horribly fat the pigeons are. Tactful but firm. I can’t stop feeding them tho can I. They’re an asset to the community. Capn thought so, anyway.

EachandEveryone · 14/06/2022 21:54

Is that a balcony you have or a courtyard set up? Will he beable to go out on his own? I’m lucky as I have a fire escape ala Friends they can get up and down on,

YesItsMeIDontCare · 14/06/2022 21:55

Aww Super, it's so hard isn't it. Remember you gave him your all and how much he loved you for it (they do really - they just pretend they don't 😁) Sending you love & (((hugs))) 💐

Prince is a brave boy for getting all paws outside 🐾🐈

Papergirl1968 · 14/06/2022 22:07

Hugs, Lana. It's so hard.
As Allergic said, your little Prince won't replace the legend that was Cap'n but will hopefully ease the pain a bit, and fill not only the cat shaped hole in your home but in your heart. 🐈

Supersimkin2 · 14/06/2022 22:35

😀thanks

just carried outraged Prince back from NDNs garden 😀

he did squeaky kitten mewing 😀

doors shut now but I can’t keep him in during a heatwave, that’s not kind.

setup is big roof terraces on 1st floor - no one’s ever jumped down to the huge garden but I don’t think a cat would perish.

Allergictoironing · 14/06/2022 22:56

Time to check if you can afford Flat Cats for the other windows, and netting for the balcony - at least until he's fully settled in & knows it's his home.

I actually have a combination of chicken wire & netting for my french doors, as much to keep others out as well as mine in. With just the wire, a neighbouring cat came over the top (4 foot high). With just netting, local orange & white tom (still with furry pom poms) charged it, ripped it down & got tangled up in it. Hence both! Can't afford tailor made flat cats for there.

Two is young not to be getting fresh air outside if he is healthy though. If he is a London city cat he should have some smarts about him. Mine are happy jumping from roof to roof its if he can get back in thats the issue. Its early though maybe after afew weeks when he knows hes home. Hes very cute.

Supersimkin2 · 15/06/2022 00:12

He’s perfectly safe on the roof terraces., we’ve got five in a long row.

His previous custodian wasn’t worried about safety.
