Not sure how much to intervene with this cat.

Out for a walk yesterday and came across a cat in very poor condition. Skinny and dirty. I spoke to a neighbour who said he is fed twice a day. And has always looked scruffy.

Posted on my local cat's Facebook page, and got inundated with people telling me to basically cat nap him.

A rescue fit in touch with me who are willing to help. Went back for another look, there is a note on the bib saying that he's fed and watered and although the looks uncared for he isn't and is an actor. The person who was feeding him has died and the house sold. But he's still being cared for.
I feel that I should leave it. Its not ideal, but the note on the bin suggests other people are concerned and they are aware of it.
But now the rescue want to scan him and possibly take to a vet. Help what do I do now!!

He looks so much better, and perky, not sad like he was before.

Len has got his own blanket! I am so happy for him. It's incredible how much happier and healthier he looks.

Hi OP

I just wanted to say a huge thank you for keeping us posted about Len. It's wonderful to see how things are turning around for him. Please keep the updates coming.

You are a wonderful human.

Toddlerteaplease · 16/05/2022 14:04

He's on a liver supplement so hopefully it's helping.

It has been lovely to read the Facebook posts where he is now purring and grooming. All good signs I think ☺️

Fluffycloudland77 · 16/05/2022 15:41

I always find it odd whoever wrote the myth about Prometheus liver growing back every night knew the liver healed quickly. They also knew the heel area was poor at healing (it still is too, your damage the back of the heel you really are in trouble) with no blood tests or imaging they’d figured some of it out probably by battle field injuries.

Toddlerteaplease · 20/05/2022 15:00

He's started grooming himself again!

Oh bless his little heart, he must be feeling better.
Let's hope his liver is regenerating itself!!! 🙏

chickyellowcute · 20/05/2022 15:17

oh bless him, what a,lovely mog, sounds like he might do very well there, thanks for helping him

XJerseyGirlX · 20/05/2022 16:23

Aw bless you op for caring. My old cat Rosie was 19 when she died ... she ate about 4 meals a day and when she wasnt on the bottom of my bed sleeping she was at the neighbours house claiming to be homeless and hungry. Luckily they knew me and knew she was looked after. She was genuinely the scruffiest thing I've even met and no matter how much I cleaned her she would go under oily cars and play in mud and look awful. I always worried people thought I was neglecting her.

Snooks1971 · 21/05/2022 14:12

@Toddlerteaplease i saw him on his new blanket on their FB page yesterday and was going to post the same! He looks so happy x

Toddlerteaplease · 21/05/2022 14:16

I think that taking out the last phrase would be wise, as it's accusative - and they did feed him and provide a shelter when they didn't have to.

I would put down 'thank you for feeding me and giving me somewhere to sleep - your kindness gave me more time to enjoy the sunshine on my ears and feel the breeze on my whiskers'.

After all, if they hadn't done that, he would likely have been dead two years ago, rather than playing with his octopus and eating chicken today.

Don't say that. They didn't give him anywhere to sleep!
