Not sure how much to intervene with this cat.

Out for a walk yesterday and came across a cat in very poor condition. Skinny and dirty. I spoke to a neighbour who said he is fed twice a day. And has always looked scruffy.

Posted on my local cat's Facebook page, and got inundated with people telling me to basically cat nap him.

A rescue fit in touch with me who are willing to help. Went back for another look, there is a note on the bib saying that he's fed and watered and although the looks uncared for he isn't and is an actor. The person who was feeding him has died and the house sold. But he's still being cared for.
I feel that I should leave it. Its not ideal, but the note on the bin suggests other people are concerned and they are aware of it.
But now the rescue want to scan him and possibly take to a vet. Help what do I do now!!

It's amazing to see the response Len could elicit. I think it's partly because he seemed so sociable. A friend of mine used to look after a feral cat and her two daughters. Even though the daughters were born in one of her chests of drawers, all of them remained very aloof and only really came into the conservatory or kitchen. They really just wanted food and a roof over their heads. By contrast, Len came across as so totally sociable. What makes me feel sad is that he clearly wasn't one of those cats who want minimal human contact - hence his speedy adaptation to being in foster care with his catio, personal blanket and roast chicken etc (not to mention establishing a such a close relationship with his foster carer).

The rescue do seem amazing. It's so sad they are so busy and so necessary.

Yes, you're so right. He seemed to love interaction which makes it sadder. So glad the OP rescued him he knew comfort at the end.
You wonder how he became homeless, did someone leave him behind, makes me so sad thinking about a situation like that for cats.

I think he was a stray. The person who's been feeding him died a couple of years ago and the house was sold recently. I find it really odd that o was told he didn't like going in doors. He clearly did.

Te house is still empty now. So he wouldn't have lasted long. Two months today sine we cat napped him.

I wonder how long he was a stray for, I remember you saying he was fairly old. Very glad you intervened when you did then :)

What a difference you made to Len and so many others in his situation! How absolutely lovely is that?
