Matt is so greedy, Spooky, that he stuffs his face with dry food too when I put it down last thing at night.

@Papergirl1968 both Ivy and Betsy get hiccups if they eat too quickly! I had to buy them those tilted raised bowls. Funny because our Elvis (RIP 😢) would wolf down the lot in about 8 seconds flat and be fine!

I'm sure you don't need the advice, but I'd just keep that clean (saline) and keep an eye on it in case it becomes infected.

That's a pretty big cut. Do you think he got into a fight with another cat?

He seems normal except having a giant drink
He's let me poke it snd gone off to bed

He might have been panting from stress, hence the need for a drink. And going to bed is an excellent idea. He's safe and warm.

Is that a burst abscess? That’s a lot of fur loss for a new wound.

Having poked it more, there's a pink skin bit which is like an abscess, he scratched it and the fur fell out which is very abscess like

Poor Paws. Do you think he'll need a visit to the vet for antibiotics?

Hopefully not! I do have a steroid jab booked for Ollie Christmas Eve so I could swap to paws if needs be but that relies on him being here

If he didn't move when you prodded the area that's a good sign.

Some bugger’s bitten him in the face. Tsk. Typical Xmas timing. Maybe ask vet for pills Paws can take if it goes gammy over the weekend.

Ollie says he can help shove him in the carrier "BYE BYE go vet" and have his vet appointment
