My gorgeous girl gave birth on DDs bed whilst we were out today. 7 little squeakers all feeding. She’s happy feeding purring away!

We had the pleasure of kittens 3 years ago (we gave a home to the mum). Despite our best efforts at giving her a safe place to birth she actually found her way into my pajama draw and had them there 🤣 One of the kittens who went to a friend was named PJ. Anyway I'm amazed at how wonderful the mums are. They do everything so the first few weeks are quite easy going. Keeping an eye on them yourself but she will feed and clean up wees and poos. Then when they are more mobile the fun begins 🤣 I actually made a little place for them next to my bed once the mum was happy for them to go there. You may find if you try and move them too soon she will go and move them back. So we used one of those huge underbed sort of storage trugs until the little darlings learned to escape from that. Anyway we kept 4 of them and a friend had PJ. They were all vet checked etc and mum was spayed soon as she could. Absolutely loved that time xxx

Perhaps I'm remembering wrong, but wasn't the deleted comment just another nice comment on kittens?

AlfonsoTheMango · 23/07/2021 08:36

Oh, those kittens! I would not be able to do anything other than to sit and gaze at them.

MrsA2015 · 23/07/2021 09:21

Loving all of your stories and cheery responses Grin @WingingItSince1973 I looked after a litter years ago but it was at a friends house and we used the conservatory as a nursery, I just remember loads of puppy pads then hosing it down once in a while. I’ve got open plan kitchen diner onto a garden (already have a baby gate in place) I suppose I’ll have to reinforce that set up once they’re galloping about

@TheBalletCats thank you for the offer!! I’ve only been loca for 6 years so fairly new and very much appreciative of the positive changes , the road closure and plans to build sky scrapers not so muchSad hopefully everything goes in favour of the community instead of the fat cats (pun absolutely intended) I wish you all the best with your “badly behaved body”Sad your wording made me chuckle. Hopefully you’re staying safe and hydrated indoors Flowers

I always say I'm not a cat person but my goodness these pictures have melted my cold heart ♥️
I can't imagine how stressful an unplanned litter has been for you, especially when you'd tried to have her spayed etc. Well done OP!
And agree with PP, I don't think Teddy will be going anywhere!!!

The mum looks so proud. And rightfully so.

YetAnotherSpartacus · 23/07/2021 12:07

Laughing at the notion that Fluffy can't tell a Bengal from a Tabby :)

MrsA2015 · 23/07/2021 15:11

Just noticed some have started to open their eyes every so slightly! I’ll try to get a picture

If they are opening their eyes already, you have some very advanced kittens op. Well done! I bet you are swelled with pride.

Your mother cat has beautiful markings.

I found having kittens (not me personally of course), a wonderful experience. I was with 'mum' throughout the birth. She looked after them very well until they were four months old - then couldn't wait for them to stop mithering her :-).

Happy memories.

@aprilshowers2015 You’re warming to cats though.

Hard not to with all these adorable pictures! DDog is quite scared of cats though Grin

allthegoodusernameshavegone · 23/07/2021 19:39

Beautiful

ShadowInVain · 23/07/2021 21:32

The tiny legs over mum's paw reminds me of that Athena picture that was popular in the 80s, of a baby's hand wrapped round his dad's thumb Grin .

MrsA2015 · 23/07/2021 22:26

They really are SO cute. Wish I could upload a video!

I'm crying. They're so innocent and precious. To see their mummy being so attentive and loving towards them is so adorable. Its amazing the way they instinctively know how to care for love and protect them.

PearPickingPorky · 24/07/2021 05:40

Imagine being a cat and suddenly having seven babies lying there beside you, or attached to you. I mean, we humans know we're pregnant, know what's in there from scans, we can read about what babies need. Etc.

But a cat just suddenly ends up with seven babies lying next to her - she must be so confused!

Sunny4876 · 24/07/2021 12:36

I'm loving this thread,my kids awwing over photos as much as me.
