Paw paws has just been in for tea. Ollie is on the mats drinking the puddles of rain happily Confused

Fluffycloudland77 · 15/08/2021 09:58

It’s very frustrating how little you can do for anyone with a virus.

Papergirl1968 · 15/08/2021 13:08

Is Charlie any better today today, Just?

NowYouListenToMeFella · 15/08/2021 14:04

How's Charlie doing?

Have had a small miracle here today. Tom was rubbing himself off my legs and let me pet him. There was tears in my eyes. Six months to happen but worth the wait.

No better. Ate a very minuscule piece of chicken last night but no interest in tuna or anything else. Just been out to buy him prawns and salmon. I feel so sick, I don't think I could cope with losing him so soon after Darcy Sad

AlfonsoTheMango · 15/08/2021 14:24

Poor Charlie.

Defiantly41 · 15/08/2021 14:27

@NowYouListenToMeFella did you hear me cheering from all they say over here?
@Justonedayatatime11 is it worth looking at alternative treatments in addition to the meds? I've no real idea what - acupuncture? A humidifier? A quick google suggests vitamin C and L-Lysine. Does your vet offer any holistic treatments?

I'm keeping everything crossed

Fluffycloudland77 · 15/08/2021 14:43

Well done to Tom, he’s obviously decided he’s not in immediate danger of felicide.

Cats make their own vitamin c and make more if their ill. You have to wonder why god decided us and guinea pigs could get stuffed on that front.

In humans you can buy products like fortisip, there must be a cat version.

NowYouListenToMeFella · 15/08/2021 15:00

Thanks all. I have spammed everyone in my phone with a video, even the rescue lady. I'd say there's as many eye rolls as cheers.

Oh just, hopefully he will pull through.

NowYouListenToMeFella · 15/08/2021 15:01

Thanks to everyone here for all the advice you have given me. Very much appreciated.

There is a recovery food but even paws wouldn't eat that... maybe something like the cat soups. It's hard if they're raw fed too as most pate/kitten food won't appeal. Nutritional yeast is a good topper to encourage
Papergirl1968 · 15/08/2021 15:11

I’m sorry he is no better, Just.
Come on, Charlie! Sad

coastergirl · 15/08/2021 18:13

Sending love for Charlie.

Justonedayatatime11 · 15/08/2021 19:07

He's refused prawns, salmon and duck. About to try warm roast chicken. He did just drain 70% of a bowl of water though

Fluffycloudland77 · 15/08/2021 19:22

Chicken livers? You can sprinkle dried catnip on food too.

AlfonsoTheMango · 15/08/2021 19:28

At least he's drinking. Would he try warm chicken broth?

cricketmum84 · 15/08/2021 21:27

Sending love and head bumps to Charlie.

Would he maybe be tempted by the gourmet cat soups? Ivy had them when she was very poorly a couple of years ago. She wouldn't eat anything else.

Justonedayatatime11 · 15/08/2021 21:42

Planning to go and raid pets at home tomorrow to see if there's anything he might like. He's come to bed with me, which is very much Not allowed, as we have a water bed. But he's being very well behaved and for the minute seems peaceful.

He looks brighter than he did a couple of days ago.

NotMyCat · 15/08/2021 22:22

@Justonedayatatime11 Ollie sends recommendations for
Cat soup
Natures menu kitten wet food
Thrive freeze dried treats (ok he couldn't chew them but paws wolfed them down)
Applaws tins (maybe get a couple of different flavours?)

Justonedayatatime11 · 15/08/2021 22:39

Thanks @NotMyCat Thanks

coastergirl · 16/08/2021 06:35

He does look brighter on that photo. Bless him.

Walter is not at all food motivated but I recently got him Felix Gravy lovers pouches and he loved them. Might be worth a try too?

Justonedayatatime11 · 16/08/2021 14:01

HE'S EATING!!!!!! GrinGrinGrin

YetAnotherSpartacus · 16/08/2021 14:08

Good Boy, Charlie!

PS - I'd try for a place in the bed again tonight :)

Guiltypleasures001 · 16/08/2021 14:23

So glad Charlie's on the up Just, he's a gorgeous cat and looked so poorly Thanks
