Do you think the singing is why cats ignore you when they see you outside?.

Puddy has learnt I don’t share food. She does a quick lap of the table miaowing & flounces back upstairs. She has also learnt DH will share food & she pesters him mercilessly until he takes ham up to her lair.

Like when your teenager walks 10 steps in front of you so nobody knows they are with the embarrassing woman behind them? 😂😂
Fluffycloudland77 · 21/07/2021 15:19

Yes 😃

“Is that your human?” “No, my humans really cool, she works in graphic design & wears Cos, she’d never wear Liberty prints like that”.

NotMyCat · 21/07/2021 15:29

I sing a Nina Simone song
"Got my ears, got my paws, got my tooth, got my eyes, got my bed, got my food, got my hoooooman, I got my hoooooman"

Ollie HmmHmmHmm < vanishes to ma bush where nobody sings at him >

I do also sing catch a falling star before he goes to sleep and he likes that

AlfonsoTheMango · 21/07/2021 15:37

My old cat used to tell me a bedtime story.

Every night, 10 minutes after I went to bed, he would join me for a last cuddle and a chat / bedtime story. It always went the same way: "Once there was a handsome black prince who lived with a horrible ogre who never gave him anything nice to eat. The End. Now go to sleep."

I am stealing this and singing it to ivy cat when she comes to make biscuits on my tummy tonight 😂

Nope. They ignore us because were hugely embarrassing even without the singing.

I thought it was 10 steps behind in case you have the temerity to catch them up 😂

Hello, is this general cat chat? I'm just here to say how fantastic cats are. I have never been an animal person but recently got two kittens for my children really. Wow, they are lovely animals. So easy to care for and so cool.

Welcome to the thread!

My cat is in disgrace. This afternoon, when I was dialled into a meeting with her lying next to me on the sofa, a cheeky mouse ran into the room and my cat did ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. She was utterly uninterested ShockAngry

Fluffycloudland77 · 21/07/2021 20:30

Cats are lovely, you’ll never be without them now.

Justonedayatatime11 · 21/07/2021 21:03

The floof is not a fan of this weather. Poor boy and his sister don't know what to do with themselves. Although he did bring me a snake yesterday Angry

@Twokitstwokats welcome!!

Although I do need to advise you that kitten photos are mandatory when joining!

Guys I am loving the songs we sing to our cats!!! My personal favourite so far is the stripey song! Meow!

coastergirl · 21/07/2021 21:30

Oh not more snakes just!

NMC hasn't been around for a couple of weeks. Tonight I was hanging out washing and I looked up to see him watching me, paws neatly together. He then came over to me and let me stroke his head, before flinging himself onto the floor with his tummy in the air. This has never happened before!

cricketmum84 · 21/07/2021 21:44

We have a lovely black and white NMC he's really nervy so I can't get close enough to pop on a paper collar but he is out all night every night Cos we pick him up on our cctv.

We have started to leave some water out for him and the hedgepigs (we see these on our cameras too) but I don't want to call a rescue in case he is a pet. He looks a bit bedraggled though. I've asked around and nobody seems to know who owns him.

Twokitstwokats · 21/07/2021 21:45

We are battling fleas tho, and keeping doors and windows shut so they don't escape... in this heat! So it's not all roses...

🥺 He’s missed you.

You need flat cat window screens @Twokitstwokats, you can never trust them with open windows ime. A colleagues cat jumped out the window when it was a year old and broke a leg.

Definitely get some Flat Cat Screens. My chap is a house cat, and while I wouldn't trust him with a large window unsupervised the top windows I can have open all day every day. Added bonus is that they're great fly screens too.

Re: Fleas. You've got kids - you must have a nit comb? They're great for getting live buggers out while you're waiting for treatment to work! Nice to know I didn't totally waste money on a Nitty Gritty Comb 12yrs ago 😂

They look like they’re about to embark on a boxing match, Just.
Question for NotMyCat - is Preston and that general area a nice place to live? Good in terms of transport, education and jobs? Youngest dd, 17, will be leaving care soon, and doesn’t want to return home (we live near Wolverhampton) because of the negative influences around here, ie friends she knows are no good for her.
She has a couple of good friends in Preston but decided on Lichfield as roughly halfway between ours and Preston, but knows no one in Lichfield and has never been there apart from a very quick trip to look around the city centre.
I think on balance she would be better in Preston, where she has a couple of good friends, although it’s further away. She’s never been there either, but does go to Blackpool fairly often.

NotMyCat · 22/07/2021 11:42

@Papergirl1968 yes I like it
People are scathing about it sometimes but it is what it is - a mix of areas and people
Cottam, Fulwood are nice, ashton on ribble has nice areas
Town centre isn't great but has what you need and there are some lovely spots especially avenham park and some great food places. Loads of supermarkets, couple of retail parks

Papergirl1968 · 22/07/2021 12:30

Thanks NMC, sounds like it would be ok for her then. I guess all towns have their nicer and not so nice parts.
Care home manager just asked me if Preston counted as the Midlands, as they’d prefer her to stay in the Midlands.
I said no, it’s Lancashire, North West - but only about two and a half hours away! Hmm

coastergirl · 22/07/2021 13:46

I'm from Preston too and still have family there. I think it's decent. I have a friend who lives right in the city centre and he has an amazing social life!

swampytiggaa · 22/07/2021 15:32

@Papergirl1968 my sister moved to Lichfield with my niece when niece was about 14. By 17 niece was living in Birmingham with her boyfriend.

Lichfield is very pretty but very quiet with not masses going on plus transport links can be hit and miss. Preston might suit your DD better in all honesty.

Fluffycloudland77 · 22/07/2021 15:52

Lichfield’s ok for people like me who like little shops, Duck ponds & pottering about.

On the plus side it has a Waitrose and a Aldi.
