Older boy licking nipple

For the last week or so my 16 year old boy has been licking his nipple. I keep catching him and telling him to stop, which he does, but then catch him again later (2-3 times a day so it's not constant). He's going bald around it, but nipple doesn't look red/weepy/bloody.

He did it for a while a couple of years ago and nipple became very red and inflamed, and then he stopped and it got better.

Have wondered if he's stressed, but can't think of anything that could be causing it, although we did get a new washing machine a few days ago so could be the stress of that? He's generally very chilled. He has been a bit quieter the last couple of days

Anyone had similar/any ideas why he could be doing it, or any tips on something which may calm him?

I dunno about the nipple-licking, but I was wondering why a 16 yr old boy would be stressed by the delivery of a washing machine.

Thank God some people are quicker than I am.

i can actually just lick my left nipple, the right im bout 5mm away.
i know this thanks to a bottle or 3 of gin and a game of truth or dare (dh verified!! i dont randomly get my nips out in front of others) this was pre covid though so i prob could do both now my boobs have grown more, along with the rest of me too ffs
