HELP!! Being held to ransom by a stray cat

this sounds ridiculous but I don't know what to do. I'll start off by saying I have lived with cats on and off for last 30 years so am experienced cat wrangler Grin

I have two cats who mostly stay indoors but like a bit sniff about every day in our garden . The last few weeks have seen a small entire tom visiting which they didn't like one bit- lots of stands offs in the garden. After lots of enquiries and he wasn't claimed we trapped him & got him neutered. Have done this many times over the years with strays.

Kept him in shed overnight to recover and after a feed took him to a farm several miles away- know the people there and they are willing to let ferals & strays live in barn etc

10 days later he turns up at the back door again!!!! However he is becoming increasingly aggressive and our cats are frightened to go out. They aren't the only ones as he also goes for me each time I'm out and has made a mess of my legs as he launches himself at me clawing away. My legs are terrible this morning as even with jeans on he's shredded them! Bloody hurt I can tell you

We still have the trap but even though he's been obviously very hungry he won't go inside.
He's there all the time

Oh he’s pissed off isn’t he?. No good deed goes unpunished as they say.

I think your going to have to tame him and adopt him.

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 03/01/2021 12:37

That look on his face Grin.

He's magnificent.

(Sorry OP - totally unhelpful...)

@Gatekeeper

He just waits outside the back door
Darth Vader has it in for you, next time drop him off in Australia before he takes you over to the dark side!

@Branleuse

congratulations on your new cat
This.
TheYearOfSmallThings · 03/01/2021 12:53

Oh he's lovely! I was picturing a manky looking no-neck creature.

VettiyaIruken · 03/01/2021 13:00

Oh heck, there's truly murder in those eyes 😂

RedRosie · 03/01/2021 13:06

He is a beauty. Oh dear.

It might calm down as @thecatneuterer says ... It does take a while for any hormone changes to kick in. Rehoming would be very difficult in this situation, as others have said. I don't know what to advise.

Years ago we took in a Tom a bit like this, had him neutered and it did work out. But we had no other cats (at the time) and I've never been sure that he was truly feral as when he came round to us (which took a couple of months) he became very domesticated.

Although he was always a bit grumpy, I loved him helplessly, as you do Grin and I think of him often.

Gatekeeper · 03/01/2021 13:09

He'll have me leg off the rate he's going..he flies through the air like a weapon...one of those star thingies they fling in martial art films

I really wouldn't call a black cat Spook. Its a racist term.

Lovely cat by the way.. in looks rather than temperament.

Beachybeach · 03/01/2021 13:11

Oh isn’t he beautiful (but also a little terrifying!).

Could you start training your new cat? Every time he goes to attack you he gets sprayed with water? Every time he does anything that doesn’t involve attacking he gets food?

Also I think he should be called Vader.

Gatekeeper · 03/01/2021 13:13

Spook is racist???? He's named after the little dog in a children book I've had since I was little

OP posts:
EvilEdna1 · 03/01/2021 13:15

Yes it is. Since World War II when it was used to refer to black airmen. Its more common in America but I would avoid.

Edgeoftheledge · 03/01/2021 13:15

Hes magnificent

Gatekeeper · 03/01/2021 13:16

I've never heard than spook is a racist slur. One lives and learns

What was the witch called? The cat looks like he is channeling her personality!

Beamur · 03/01/2021 13:21

He is a handsome cat. Hope he does calm down, you can't live in fear or wellies forever.

SnuggleWuggle · 03/01/2021 13:21

I’d call him Darth helpful Grin
Maybe even Darth Maul Grin

Gatekeeper · 03/01/2021 13:23

witch was called Grimelda and was horrible to him. She didn't have a cat as she was allergic to them!
Ive had that book since I bought it for the princely sum of 25p back in 1972 and I read it every Halloween

What about Kylo Ren (Adam drivers character in SW) who is attractive and evil. Also great at acrobatics and fighting.
