Oh Just, so so sorry Thanks

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 30/12/2020 14:43

Very sorry to hear your news Just Flowers.

YesItsMeIDontCare · 30/12/2020 15:19

Oh Just 😢

Sending you lots of love and (((hugs))) 🌈

TheLongRider · 30/12/2020 15:25

So sorry for you and your family. Flowers

Supersimkin2 · 30/12/2020 15:45

Darling @Justonedayatatime11 you were The best mum Darcy could have had. I’m so sorry for you. Go gently, love.

coastergirl · 30/12/2020 20:55

Oh @Justonedayatatime11 I can't put into words how sorry I am. It's heartbreaking. You did everything you could and gave her a lovely life.

Justonedayatatime11 · 30/12/2020 21:59

Thank you. My lovely lovely vet scanned her abdomen before they were going to put the feeding tube in. Found it absolutely full of fluid so she drained some off and tested it and said she was 99.9% certain she had wet FIP. I managed to get back to the vets so I could be with her as they put her to sleep and she went very peacefully while I cuddled her.
Devastated doesn't come close. Yes I have numerous other cats, but none that have got to me like Darcy did. She was the naughtiest, most destructive, infuriating little cat and I loved her to pieces. Night night Darcy bug xxx

nettie434 · 30/12/2020 22:52

Very very sorry to read this Just. I remember the first time I saw a photo of Darcy on here and was so amazed by how beautiful she was. You did everything you could for her and more Flowers

Papergirl1968 · 31/12/2020 09:45

How are you, Just? I hope you got some sleep?

Justonedayatatime11 · 31/12/2020 12:08

I'd forgotten what it's like to feel so empty. I still can't quite believe it. Very little sleep, splitting headache and can't stop crying. I've also got her breeder giving me hell which is the absolute last thing I'm up to dealing with atm

Fluffycloudland77 · 31/12/2020 12:17

The breeders got a cheek. I’d block the bitch. Darcy probably caught it off one of hers anyway.

Allergictoironing · 31/12/2020 12:30

Does this mean you're going to have to get all the others tested now?

Bloody breeder should know it's one of those things, and that your cats are looked after better than the vast majority. It's not like she's been out roaming the fields & socialising with strays & ferals!

Justonedayatatime11 · 31/12/2020 13:05

@Fluffycloudland77 I'd love to block her but I also have another of her cats who is contracted to have a litter to carry on the breed. I requested to have her spayed yesterday as I don't want anything like this to happen again and she had a go at me, and then pestered me with message after message despite me asking her to leave me alone.
It's highly likely Darcys problems were genetic, the original breeder of the Suffolk was very underhand and it's come to light fairly recently that there was far far too much inbreeding.
I know I did the right thing yesterday, she was so so ill. But I feel so guilty and like it was all my fault. I'm an absolute wreck

Papergirl1968 · 31/12/2020 13:16

Oh Just, you have nothing to blame yourself for.
You’ve been through so much with Darcy it’s no wonder you’ve fallen apart. Please be kind to yourself.
I wouldn’t be talking to that breeder right now, she sounds a right bitch, having a go at you. If you really have to speak to her, at least leave a few days till you’re feeling stronger.

Fluffycloudland77 · 31/12/2020 13:32

Some phones you can mute people?.

If your having the other Suffolk spayed though do you need the grief of it?.

When we had the Persian with the ginger gene castrated his breeder got sniffy about it.

Justonedayatatime11 · 31/12/2020 14:14

@Fluffycloudland77 that's the problem, she won't let me have her spayed

Fluffycloudland77 · 31/12/2020 14:41

So she owns her?. Oh balls.

Justonedayatatime11 · 31/12/2020 14:43

Nope, she's my cat @Fluffycloudland77, paid full price for her last July. But it was part of the contract that she'd have 1 litter which the breeder could choose 1 kitten from. I'd hoped she'd be sensible and considerate enough to say ok, let's not do that, it causes too much heartache, but nope, she still wants her pound of flesh.

Fluffycloudland77 · 31/12/2020 14:52

Well you didn’t know it would turn out to be a Faustian pact with the devil.

A court would rule in her favour. Hopefully fate will twist in your favour in the meantime.

YesItsMeIDontCare · 31/12/2020 15:22

Oh Just she sounds absolutely bloody awful! Is there a governing body you could discuss this with? Surely an animal's health overrides any contract?

((( hug )))

Supersimkin2 · 31/12/2020 15:45

Block that ludicrous woman @Justonedayatatime1. She doesn't have a leg to stand on and her various, er, behaviours from the last 24 hours prove it.

Try and get some sleep. (((()))) from me and Capn.

Justonedayatatime11 · 31/12/2020 15:54

I'm going to speak to my vet again after the weekend and see if it's something she can advise on. I'm not up to a fight at the minute. My mental health has been wobbly this year to say the least, but this has just tipped me over the edge. I genuinely just want oblivion

Supersimkin2 · 31/12/2020 16:05

Sweetheart, of course you feel horrible at the moment - you are shattered after all the efforts you made to save Darcy, and now you are grieving.

If it's any help, you only feel this bad cos you were so superb. But you're much too tired to see that, who wouldn't be.

My heart breaks for you sweetie - you don't deserve this. Try and get some rest and ignore the psycho on the phone. She doesn't matter long term. You do.

Papergirl1968 · 31/12/2020 17:57

Exactly, Lana, you put it so well.
Scandalous way for that breeder to behave! Angry

Fluffycloudland77 · 31/12/2020 18:00

Breeders are certainly untroubled by sentiment aren’t they?.

If the other girl is in anyway unfit for pg and labour it’s a moot point anyway.
