Perhaps he has just got a tummy bug or eaten something which disagrees with him. Being weak and wobbly after being violently sick wouldn’t be unexpected, I don’t think, horrible though it must be to witness.

TheLongRider · 22/11/2020 21:54

Oh no! I hope the vet can sort out the issues

Supersimkin2 · 22/11/2020 22:18

Don't worry sweetie, easy to say tho' @coastergirl - horrible for you both but you know how dramatic their illnesses can look. Loads of bugs produce terrifying tummy effects and are all completely fixable. Chances are Bertie's got a complaint that's scary as hell and not, thankfully, that serious.

Good luck and let us know how it goes for you all.

coastergirl · 22/11/2020 22:28

Sat outside the vets now while they examine him.

Supersimkin2 · 22/11/2020 22:42

Am here if you want a paw hold. You should know soon. Put the radio on or do a breathing exercise, they work, believe it or not. What a crappy day for you.

nettie434 · 22/11/2020 22:42

Sending socially distant 🤝 to you and Bertie coastergirl. Hope it's just something he ate.

QueenPaws · 22/11/2020 23:09

Hand hold here. Cats do dramatic well, look how poorly Ollie was

coastergirl · 22/11/2020 23:19

Thank you all. I'm home. He's a very poorly boy. No idea why, but he's in shock. Weak pulse, low temperature etc. IF he makes it through the night they will do tests in the morning, but it's a big if. Devastated. Thanks for all your wishes.

Papergirl1968 · 22/11/2020 23:24

Oh god, Coaster.
I’m so sorry it’s not better news. I do hope tomorrow brings an improvement. Try to get some sleep x

QueenPaws · 22/11/2020 23:32

Everything crossed. Try and have a hot drink
I guess they will be giving him fluids and keeping a close eye overnight

coastergirl · 23/11/2020 00:14

They're giving him fluids, putting him on a heat pad etc. Unfortunately no full overnight care so won't be checked on much. I had the option once they saw him to take him to an overnight facility but the vet warned they are very expensive and I'd left my neighbour sitting with my two little boys. It just wasn't an option. I get the impression there wasn't much more an overnight place could do really. He yowled at me all the way there (25 minutes) which I took as a good sign, but the vet said he was really not well. I just don't understand what's happened. Dreading the morning.

Supersimkin2 · 23/11/2020 00:21

Try and get some sleep, love, we're all with you in spirit. Sending you all the best.

coastergirl · 23/11/2020 00:25

I can't sleep. Feel too shit. But thank you. I just can't believe this could happen so suddenly. I'm so grateful to have this thread to talk about this.

swampytiggaa · 23/11/2020 07:36

@coastergirl prayers for Bertie and also strength prayers for you 💕💕 so sorry you are having to deal with this

Supersimkin2 · 23/11/2020 07:41

@coastergirl you reacted so fast and got him to the right place asap - he's having everything possible done for him, thanks to you. Sending paw hold from me and Cap'n.

YetAnotherSpartacus · 23/11/2020 08:42

That's terrible news. All the best Coaster and Bertie :(

Defiantly41 · 23/11/2020 09:07

Wishing you and Bertie all the best Coaster

coastergirl · 23/11/2020 09:25

It's not good news. They strongly suspect antifreeze poisoning. They're treating but it's very unlikely to help and we'll probably have to let him go in the next hour

Fluffycloudland77 · 23/11/2020 09:28

Oh god I’m so sorry, your poor Bertie.

YetAnotherSpartacus · 23/11/2020 09:33

I'm so, so sorry :(

swampytiggaa · 23/11/2020 09:51

Oh god I’m so sorry! So much love to you have you got someone with you?

TheSilveryPussycat · 23/11/2020 10:06

Only caught up on the thread today. And read the news - my eyes are prickling. Will be thinking of you both all day Sad

Papergirl1968 · 23/11/2020 10:56

My heart is breaking for you both, Coaster.
Echoing Swampy, I hope you have someone with you.

coastergirl · 23/11/2020 11:15

Just the lunatic baby with me.

Papergirl1968 · 23/11/2020 11:23

Ask a relative or good friend to come round if you can. Just someone who you can talk to if you want, but is comfortable sitting quietly if you don’t.
