Allergictoironing · 24/08/2020 10:11

We have good news and bloody irritating news chez Allergic Towers. I started to clear The Heap under the coffee table & found the (very) deceased mouse before it had the chance to decompose at all, which is A Good Thing.

On the irritating news front, I was due a Covid test this morning prior to my nerve block on Thursday. Having not received any details by Friday, I called the hospital and was told very specifically 11.35am for the Covid test. Got up at 8am, had a shower, got downstairs to find the letter from the hospital had arrived - stating 8-8.30am! It's taken me until now to get hold of anyone who could tell me that yes the letter was right.

Cue panic stations, as if I have to wait much longer for the nerve block I may break down. However she did say that I can go tomorrow at 8-8.30am instead and that will be OK (phew).

Cats are now confused, as I went through "going out first thing" type procedures, and now haven't gone anywhere. Girlcat is further confused as she can't find the mouse that was definitely alive last time she saw it - but I'm not getting her another one!

Supersimkin2 · 24/08/2020 17:19

Girlcat's got the taste for it now... :)

Good luck getting the test tomorrow. And you'll KNOW, unlike 99 per cent of us, get you.

Cap'n bravely jumped on the dressing table this am to wake me up. It worked cos he fell off onto the bed, to be honest. But he's well pleased with this new mode of command. Is getting too fat to lift, but no longer minds being picked up that much.

He's going for the A Level in Tray Studies, I am so proud.

Allergictoironing · 24/08/2020 17:47

Oh I know already - I was asked to do the postal test as part of a survey a couple of weeks ago & that came back clean, and not been out since then (loving home delivery!). So no contact, no temperature, no cough beyond the normal one I get with hay fever. But one must do as asked, or no facet joint nerve block on Thursday. Just not looking forward to having to get up at half past 6 tomorrow - takes me at least half an hour to get moving well enough to get dressed, and I can't face the world without TEA.

Well done Cap'n V! Agile enough to get up on the dressing table, smart enough to work it out. And NOT inappropriately soiling the flat!!!

QueenCT · 24/08/2020 18:32

Clever boy!
Unlike ollie who managed to do this in the night. Entire desk contents on the floor Confused

Did you not hear the crash and think you were being burgled, Queen?
And it looks like Paws has got his...um, paws well and truly under the table. Grin

Supersimkin2 · 25/08/2020 09:28

i bet Paws got a 9 in Nutritional Studies.

Gloom alert: My poor friend has had her fourth Bengal in six years run over and killed. She's blaming herself despite everyone sane and the vet telling her it's a miracle she kept them alive to adulthood in the first place.

The vet said it's all too typical these days & said the cat wouldn't have known anything about it, a bigger blessing than humans think.

I've changed my mind about catproofing. Anyone got any tips? Said I'd ask for her here.

Papergirl1968 · 25/08/2020 10:01

Oh, Lana, how awful, your poor friend Flowers

TheSparklyPussycat · 25/08/2020 11:02

nettie434 · 25/08/2020 11:24

How awful for your friend Supersimkin2. There was this thread a few weeks ago:

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/the_litter_tray/3952763-Cat-Proofing-Garden-for-kitten

It's got some links and tips which may help.

Congrats to you and the Capn on his new skills.

Allergictoironing · 25/08/2020 11:25

On a positive note, I seem to have won a freebie from Your Cat magazine - a water fountain. Pity my pair are so set in their ways they turn their cute little noses up at anything new (unless there's catnip involved of course), so wasted on them.

I could sell it I suppose (they retail for £28-30 new) but I may see if a local cat charity would want it for them to sell to raise funds.

Papergirl1968 · 25/08/2020 12:26

Progress here!
Yesterday I was feeling completely stressed out about the cats still hating the dog. The dog was clearly making the cats unhappy as they were both spending the majority of the day hiding away. Last night Matt threw himself hissing, growling and spitting at a glass door separating them. Sad
This morning it's like Matt has taken a chill pill. He is in the same room as the dog, fully aware she's there and keeping a watchful eye on her, but at the same time dozing off.
Long may this progress continue...

Papergirl1968 · 25/08/2020 13:02

Congratulations, Allergic. Give it a go - they might surprise you and love it!
