Happy Birthday to him @YesItsMeIDontCare. Awful time all round isn’t it?.

Client Boycat is snuggled into an igloo, Girlcat has made a slight concession to the weather and is on the back of the sofa (curled up tightly) rather than in/on my bed. I did open both the window and the french doors (both netted) which they usually like, but neither is interested today.

I opened the up and over garage door to let the window cleaners through, not realising Socks was in the garage. Instead of running out the front as Matt would have done she cried at the door leading from the garage to the kitchen to be let in.
When I opened it she dashed through the house and up the stairs, where she sat looking at me accusingly.
She is getting braver about venturing into the back garden though but if anything scares her she’s runs back in - she’s a complete wuss.

She's only small. Brave girl!

Capn V has snored fatly on the balcony all day, ginger stripes in the shade of a blue hydrangea.

DM: does he come when you call his name?
Me: Well, he comes when I shake the packet.

Capn V has certainly made himself at home.
Socks was just looking out of the window when some people walked past. She jumped off the windowsill and fled up the stairs, crouching lie to the ground and with her tail down. Poor baby girl, it must be a very frightening world for her.

She'll settle. Frisky time of life for her.

I have incurred displeasure by doing Capn's lamb chop with garlic by mistake. he won't touch it.

I think Ollie has taken up shielding with me. He seems surgically attached to his bed. You know the one he refused to touch for 4 months?

It's the heat and a chance for a nice slumber with The Mama. How are you doing on the shielding front?

His life is his bed all day, start pestering mama to go out at 11pm
I'm good, rustled up a cottage pie for the freezer which looks pretty delicious

I did pommes boulangeres yesterday, also ideal for freezing. Slice up potatoes and onions t-h-i-n (or buy them cut, I did) in pie dish. Stock and rosemary over the top. Dab butter, spray cheese etc. Bake 1 hour at 4.
You get a lovely fragrant potato cake, satisfying slabs but light as well.
Chop bits out as required from freezer.

He looks enormous, Lana. Like Matt-sized enormous (of whom someone enquired the other day, “is she pregnant?” )

Super - the Cap'n is a vision of buttery gold.

Like Matt, Capn has Big Fur.

Honest, he has - when I groom him sleek he vanishes. Well, almost. His bones are very long and thick, he's a full-on mega tomcat.

The camera adds 10lb. I used several cameras.

Yep, I tell everyone Matt is big boned - an excuse I’ve been using myself for most of my life! But honestly we both are big boned (and fat - but even without the fat neither of us would be delicate little flowers).
Socks on the other hand has the figure of a teenage model!

The Cap'n is a gentle giant, he really is. Even as a newbie he's never hurt me.

Those massive tufty paws never scratch, just pat. And delicately, too.
