New thread!
I’ve found two so much more hard work (and expensive) than one, Queen

I'm pondering Cap'n Valentine's backstory. Pure fantasy but indulge my whimsy.

I don't think he is a ship's captain, or more likely a ship's cat. He doesn't strike me as the naval sort and merchant shipping would be beneath him.

I think he would be the raffish anti-hero of a Regency novel. The sort of Captain who would have bought his commission in the army, possibly to escape some gambling debts. Maybe even to escape the clutches of a scheming female who had succumbed to his advances. He'd be the thuggish second son who would never inherit the family estate and who wasn't suited to the life of a clergyman. A string of glamourous mistresses and clamouring kittens bedevilled his life.

He has had an adventurous existence but has come to relish living out his days in yellow-stickered luxury, tended to by his devoted hand maiden. I'm sure he gets a glint in his yellow eyes when he remembers his heyday. A paw twitches in the afternoon sunlight of his dreams as an old foe is vanquished...

Kitties are being given cat soup as compensation whenever I have to go out shopping - today's trip IS essential as DSis always shops on either a Thursday or Saturday depending on shifts, and missed last week's trip due to having the lurgy. Not only are they short on things like milk & bread, but essentials like chocolate & cake Shock. Logistics all worked out - will knock on the window & stand back, she will open doors & go back into the house, I will deliver into the airlock porch & stand back, she will collect from the airlock porch once I've retreated to the car.

I was hoping to get a few bits for me while in the same supermarket - anyone know whether they are still rationing things like bread and if so, how they manage about this kind of situation as both of us want bread & milk?

Thanks for all your well wishes for my little Bertie. We have posters up. I could try leaflets through doors. We have the traps out and have reported him missing to the microchip company.

DSiL got 2 lots of toilet roll as she was shopping for her mum too. She spoke to store manager before commencing shop and was given permission.

TY Yes, I was planning on asking first when I went in so that confirms it. Running about an hour later than anticipated (forgot to take painkillers earlier) so hoping the queue won't be too horrendous!

Papergirl1968 · 07/04/2020 11:47

Coaster, I was about to say knock on doors and ask if you can look in sheds and garages, but you can’t really at the moment of course.
If you leaflet drop, ask on there for people to check.
Local Facebook pages are good too. Even an ad in your local paper which elderly people might read when they might not be on Facebook.

Can you ask your local COVID group to post as well.

Supersimkin2 · 07/04/2020 19:55

Charlie is utterly lovely.

ClientQueen · 07/04/2020 20:11

Someone has just returned from the zebra crossing with paws. Paws doesn't even live down there Hmm

coastergirl · 07/04/2020 20:17

I've just designed a leaflet that I'm going to print and take out. I'll try and post a version. Bloody love Ollie using the zebra crossing. Clever boy.

coastergirl · 07/04/2020 20:22

Any thoughts or edits? It's got 3 different contacts on there. I have terrible signal in my new house and can't risk missing information on him.

Good luck Coaster.

Supersimkin2 · 07/04/2020 20:39

Coaster you need a call to action. Can you drop the text into a post and i will sort it.

ClientQueen · 07/04/2020 20:39

Looks good to me. I did about 450 flyers on my own when Ollie vanished Blush

Supersimkin2 · 07/04/2020 20:41

Paws and Ollie only hang out there cos they know the road matches them.

How was the telly? Did they turn up - I can imagine it must be hell for the companies at the moment.

Papergirl1968 · 07/04/2020 20:59

Good poster, Coaster.
Sorry, unintentional rhyming there.
Matt has gone AWOL now. He’s been out about five hours which is unlike him. I’m up and down like a bloody yo-yo checking the back door then the front door.
I’m surprised Paws still bothers going “home,” Queen. I’m sure he thinks of yours as home now.

Good poster coastergirl. If it makes you feel any better my neighbours cat returned after 3 months. Then after 6 weeks he buggered off again for another 3 weeks. He's now back again 😁.

I'm jealous of Ollie's bed, I want one.

Has anyone noticed that I've had my hair cut?

TheLongRider · 08/04/2020 00:23

Yes - ooh lovely! Suits you Madam.

I'll need a furminator to sort out my barnet.

YesItsMeIDontCare · 08/04/2020 07:46

Thank you 😊.

Done by top stylist DH at Chez Moi.

YetAnotherSpartacus · 08/04/2020 13:18

Still thinking of you Coaster. Flowers

Fluffycloudland77 · 08/04/2020 16:30

Good grief I don’t think I’d cope with a missing cat for 3 months, I’d have gone mad with worry.

Dh keeps treading on Asbos grave, I need something to put over him. Like a bear trap. He never went on that part of the garden before we put the cat in there.

Dh has had his 3 month shielding text now.

ClientQueen Have you got anywhere with supermarket deliveries?.
