Onwards and upwards for the denizens of the Litter Tray. Best of luck to all job-hunting, cat-mourning, Paws-swiping posters. I can't do a proper link to the old thread.

New boy cat arrives on Friday, a one-year old tabby boy currently under the moniker of "Bobby". I don't have a proper picture yet.

You've gotta love my DS.

I'm ill. Again. November I got a cold. Had a god-awful cough ever since. Seizure (first in 12 years) just before Christmas. Still coughing up crap and I've strained myself so it hurts. Now coming down with another cold.

• DS: You're not ill Mum, you've just been handicapped because you're too good and powerful.

Thanks to him I also now give my age in "levels" because it sounds like I've achieved it through skill and expertise. 😁

He's 15 and still reminds me that he loves me and will hug me in public (if we're nowhere any friends could be and he's had a quick look round 😂).

Leroy, on the other hand, couldn't give a shit 🤷🏼‍♀️.

Queen, where did you get that posh looking scratch box from?

ClientQueen · 18/02/2020 07:50

@YesItsMeIDontCare TK maxx!

Supersimkin2 · 18/02/2020 09:40

A well-deserved rest from the exhaustion of being achingly sweet.

Paws is transformed, isn't he. He looks completely different and like himself. You have the sunlight soul of a shaman healer, Queen. And the body of a model, I've just recalled.

Capn V and I are in bed, also resting with Dreamies.

Fluffycloudland77 · 18/02/2020 09:43

@YesItsMeIDontCare

If it’s a non productive cough use pholocodiene syrup. If it’s productive use friars balsam in boiling water. Inhale, then force a cough. Repeat as long as you can. It stains everything it touches but hot water and fairy will get it off with a scouring pad.

My dh has a complex medical history & gets a lot of chest problems so I’m good with chest things.

YesItsMeIDontCare · 18/02/2020 10:02

@Fluffycloudland77 - Tried that. Menthol crystals, Vicks, Olbas Oil etc, as little dairy as is possible, drinking warm clear fluids (herbal tea and water), spitting up everything every time. Everything both the doctor and pharmacist have suggested. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Leroy did give me a lovely cuddle earlier though.

Fluffycloudland77 · 18/02/2020 10:28

Have they not suggested a sputum test?. Dh had a lingering cough/chest infection & it turned out to be fungal.

Vicks is not what it used to be, you need eucalyptus balm nowadays because they’ve fucked the recipe up. I’ve found one in Holland & Barrett, £10!. Haven’t bought it yet. Might check John Lewis.

YesItsMeIDontCare · 18/02/2020 10:36

No sputum test I just described it (in graphic detail 🤢), but I've had a chest x-ray which is showing some inflammation in my right lung. I've got to have another one in a few weeks. Vicks still smells lovely though!

Thank you very much for your suggestions.

Supersimkin2 · 18/02/2020 11:00

Yes that's no good, coughs are a bloody nuisance.

Ask for an x-ray and some strong pills when you see the GP. Maybe a blue inhaler as well, they work on loads of non-asthma coughs.

YesItsMeIDontCare · 18/02/2020 12:53

I don't know how to link, but there's a really cute clip on Classic FM's video section of a cat disrupting an orchestra.

Leroy would SO do that 😹.

YesItsMeIDontCare · 18/02/2020 13:03

Sorry Super, I didn't refresh the page!

I've been given a Ventolin Inhaler and some 30/500 Solpadol, and I'm having a follow up x-ray in a few weeks. Hell, they even threw antibiotics at it, just in case, but that didn't work either 🤷🏼‍♀️.

I really hope it's not going to be my new "normal" - I'm an exam invigilator 😱.

ClientQueen · 18/02/2020 17:32

Ollie had the catnip mouse, paws launched and wrestled him to the floor, Ollie objected violently Hmm and they ended up in some wrestling hold. Before galloping around the house play poking each other like idiots

Allergictoironing · 18/02/2020 17:39

Sounds just like mine most evenings ClientQueen! It may be a catnip mouse, it may be a bootlace, it may be a bit of wallpaper that Boycat has ripped off, it still all ends the same way with wrestling followed by mad chasing round the house. Usually ends up with them curled up together in a ball on my bed Smile

Tea time Grin

Supersimkin2 · 18/02/2020 18:03

That's a little unfortunate Yes. Another burden for millennials to bear, eh. Grin There's loads of stuff they can do for a cough, steroids, the works. Panic ye not. You must be knackered and moody by now tho, who wouldn't be. Take it easy and that's an order.

Nothing like a good rumble with your BFF Queen and Allergic.

Capn V's eating Wensleydale. He's unsure but being very game. Little does he know supper is lamb shank, reduced tesco valentine's offer.

YesItsMeIDontCare · 18/02/2020 18:23

I'm permanently moody 😂. Just got back from a strenuous walk with Leroy . We managed a trip round the garden, out the front and as far down as Barney's top choice accommodation. 5 houses away. Took 6 minutes and I'm already in my pjs 👍🏻.

Supersimkin2 · 18/02/2020 20:03

That's the spirit.

Just about to hop into mine, brushed cotton for the older gentleman via Sainsbury's. Bliss.

Allergictoironing · 18/02/2020 21:07

Sainsbury's never seem to do anything that fits over my somewhat generous boobage Sad. Neither does Tesco. Asda does cater for the (ahem) larger ladies, but normally in things that would scare me if I caught sight of myself in the mirror. Lower half I don't have the same issues, it's a full 2 sizes smaller as in 20 (upstairs is a 24-26!) Shock

Supersimkin2 · 18/02/2020 21:50

These pjs are XXXL men's - we get room to spare, Allergic - nothing like properly baggy nightwear, so comfy. Men's always the best, the cut's completely different.

If you ever come across Derek Rose PJs in the men's bit of TK Maxx, buy them - miles cheaper than in the normal shop (Harrods) and they make a massive difference to kip comfort. Made of men's shirt material. C-r-r-r-r-i-s-p.Then velvety.

Allergictoironing · 18/02/2020 22:25

I think my nearest TKMaxx is about 15 miles away!

Got a couple of different hanging scratching things today, that can go against the wall. Got them in the vain hope that Boycat may like the feel of them compared to his current wallpaper removal obsession. One has a flat plywood back, so going to try attaching it with some of those easy remove strips as was recommended in the Amazon feedback by a satisfied customer.

Can see one of 3 things happening:
a) Boycat adores one/both of them
b) He pulls one/both of them off the wall
c) He's so terrified of them he leaves that wall alone & concentrates on the patch behind the curtains that no-body notices.

So 2 chances out of 3 for it being a "win" Smile

Supersimkin2 · 18/02/2020 22:44

I've bought some cat brushes you stick up against the wall for longhaired cats.

Capn V is flat out, limp and very long, purring in his sleep.Little lad is relaxing as he is finally home. Such a sweet soul.

YesItsMeIDontCare · 19/02/2020 00:22

I use a tangle teaser for Leroy. He bloody loves it 😁. Strictly on his terms of course and boy does he let you know when he's had enough!

(I get away with size 16 jams. Fleecy bottoms and a fleecy hoodie. Which is very good for muffling hacking coughing spasms at 00:20.)

Supersimkin2 · 19/02/2020 08:22

Yes night coughing is the pits. Use the blue inhaler 4x and an extra pillow. 2x cocodamol will knock you out for a bit. But they're a minor form of hillbilly heroin so not every night.

Just you try having a morning coffee when Capn V has eaten Breakfast 1 in the time it takes you to put the pod in and by the time you stagger back to bed still unwoken/parched he is on the pillow purring for Breakfast 2.

And His cuddle.
And His Dreamies.
And His brush.

Very brainy cat. We're working together as a team finessing the domestic timetable. On me now, scanning the bed for snacks.

YesItsMeIDontCare · 19/02/2020 09:18

You're really not Super. You're being moulded to Captain's requirements and you know it. And you love it 😁.

Inhaler coughed straight back up, spent 40 minutes coughing into a bucket this morning (seriously - how much fluid??? 🤢) so going back to doctor in a bit.

Supersimkin2 · 19/02/2020 11:48

Kinell, that's misery. Drink as much as you can - keeps your throat wet so less cough, replaces what you've sprayed out. Good news re doc.

swampytiggaa · 19/02/2020 16:28

Been in that London since Monday with my daughters. The cats have apparently spent a lot of time sitting outside Victoria’s room crying 💕
