Onwards and upwards for the denizens of the Litter Tray. Best of luck to all job-hunting, cat-mourning, Paws-swiping posters. I can't do a proper link to the old thread.

New boy cat arrives on Friday, a one-year old tabby boy currently under the moniker of "Bobby". I don't have a proper picture yet.

"Anything you can do, I can do better!"

From the set of Paw's ears I can tell that Ollie was hassling him.

He looks v peaceful post slaughter!
@TheLongRider he's obsessed with sniffing Paws tail. Yet Paws goes to sniff Ollies and he has a complete "OMG MA TAIL GET OFF"
He did also whack paws right across the neck Confused

Poor Captain. Thoroughly exhausted after successfully protecting his home & servant from a terrifying bra. He needs prawns. Clearly.

There's a line of bra themed kitty toys in the making here. I'm thinking padded bras where the padding is catnip.

I hope the Captain is ready for a fresh kill today.

An odd question for the Litter Tray - does anyone else use the word "twangled" for cat's ears when they are annoyed? Like the picture of Paws above. My mother (from near Brum) uses it and as far as I know it's a dialect word.

I'm from near Brum and I've never heard of "twangled".

I might add Mum was born just before World War II and her parents were born at the end of the 19thC. Having googled, it turns up in a book of Swaledale dialect words. Her side of the family has roots in Yorkshire ...

LOVE twangled. Deffo missing from the Cockney range of expressions to indicate miffed-ness, of which there are plenty, believe me.

Swaledale is one of the most beautiful places on the planet Long, nearly as nice as Ireland.

Just reached peak midlife uncool - podiatrist congratulated me on my ingrowing toenail care. I am electric with glee.

Capn V twangling me relentlessly for comestibles.

Better go out to get catfood/a life.

Tbh I don't think that ear position is as much miffedness as whathefuckisgoingonbehindme.

Leroy walks along with his ears like that to check I'm still with him. And comes and bites the back of my leg if I'm not. Does it while we're out too, although exactly where else he thinks I'll be then is anyone's guess 🤷🏼‍♀️

That ear position is also known as flat-cap ears in this house. It's definitely used to express annoyance/sulking/miffedness. The flatter the ear the more pissed off the cat.

I'm not talking about the ears pinned to head version of anger, just sulking. A long time ago when I was a child we got a new kitten. Our two existing cats sat together in front of the fire that night and sulked in unison with their backs to us and ears twangled! Mum took a photo and it expresses their mood perfectly.

He is all soft and warm and he luffs you good.

He was flat out until 3am. Paw out, head down and snoozing

Aww.

Capn V had Aldi cat food and was flamboyantly sick. Had to rush to M&S for roasted drumsticks. He had two. Seems ok now.

I reckon Capn V is sending thanks above (or possibly below in this case!) to Mr C for training you so well Grin

I reckon M&S is sending thanks to Cap'n V for boosting their sales figures. They were looking a bit iffy there for a while!

Little lad tried for a third drumstick and we had a mature exchange of views about overeating. He's just jumped up for sweets, has forgiven me.

He sounds just as much of a character of Mr C was, Lana!
Did Paws go out at 3am, Queen? I’m waiting for the time he stays all night. I wonder if his so-called owners know or care where he is at all hours.

ClientQueen · 05/03/2020 11:50

@Papergirl1968 he did - I got up as was v unwell from my injection, couldn't face getting up again to check on him so I put him outside. Then stood there feeling awful as it was cold Sad

Aww, Queen, he is moving in, paw by stealthy paw.
Hope you feel better soon and then maybe just leave him and see what he does? Wink

Report
ClientQueen · 05/03/2020 12:11

It's so hard because sometimes I've got up to check on him and he's pawing at the window wanting out. But he doesn't miaow or purr so I have not a clue unless I physically get up to see what he's doing. It's like having a baby Grin
