No cat seen yet. Balls jumped in the window yesterday, saw Ollie, went "uh oh" and jumped straight back out
Paws and waif also spotted

To vast relief, just had an email from the Met to say they are not investigating my pickpocketing any further but Safer Neighbourhoods will be in touch - there's a meeting up the road on Fri for everyone left alive to complain about things round here.

The last thing I feel like is 2 hrs on the phone saying 'well I don't know' in an incompetent-sounding manner when the copper asks me how they took my purse so fast. Rubs it in.

In the meantime, our lone copper PC Shut-In is designing posters for anti-hate crime in his house. He's all over social media but no one's ever seen him Grin We are all being very encouraging about the posters, however.

Matt got up for breakfast and then retreated to dd1’s bed where he shared her pancakes as second breakfast. Then he came down for lunch and went back to bed.
He came down for early tea (which was a chicken leg I found languishing in the fridge), went out for an hour or so, and has come back for more chicken (leftovers from our meal) as second tea. Now he’s asleep on a pile of washing on the sofa.
It’s a cat’s life...

LanaorAna2 · 03/12/2018 19:36

Is there visual evidence for the calendar? Matt represents the spirit of leisure.

Papergirl1968 · 03/12/2018 20:39

Sadly not other than one of him sleeping off his many meals!

LanaorAna2 · 03/12/2018 20:59

That casual yet revealing portrait is the perfect submission to capture the appallingly hard struggle of many of Britain's pets.

It ought to win Guardian Victim of the Week Photography Award (yes, that is what they call it in the office).

LanaorAna2 · 03/12/2018 21:05

Cozie - help. Mr C has eaten the end of a chipolata today - that's it. He tried to eat another bit but did awful snotting noises. He is hiding under sofa. Won't sit with me. Any thoughts?

cozietoesie · 03/12/2018 21:13

Ignore him. 😀

LanaorAna2 · 03/12/2018 21:21

So you don;t think I should call the emergency vet

LanaorAna2 · 03/12/2018 21:22

his fur has gone spiky and his head is all limp. he is breathing ok though.

Fluffycloudland77 · 03/12/2018 21:32

I’d ring. Why is his head limp?

LanaorAna2 · 03/12/2018 21:35

I'm not sure. It's drooping. He hasn't asked for a single meal today, and pathetically licked the sausage piece before starting to snort and gag and turned away.

I might ring them now. I know I am probably nervy after a month of crap in life generally, but he isn't. And he wouldn't play me for a whole day. Or reject Dreamies. Or cat milk. Or chipolatas.

LanaorAna2 · 03/12/2018 21:50

Little bugger. Angry He has just eaten the chicken out of my reduced sandwich. A bit of sweetcorn vanished too.

He's definitely pretty ill, has a cracking fever, and sound effects are hideous BUT he's not starving to death.

The second he saw the chicken his head shot up. Thanks a million Fluffy. Vet is tomorrow am anyway.

I am having a huge vodka and orange.

Weezol · 03/12/2018 22:38

He sounds dehydrated (spiky fur). I know you can lead a cat to water but you can't make him drink...

Can you leave a few extra bowls water about - cold water straight from the fridge is a thing here.

Papergirl1968 · 03/12/2018 22:44

Dd and Matt snuggling on the sofa - Matt helpfully providing her with an eye mask made of his back leg. Victim of the week indeed!
Good luck at the vets tomorrow, Lana. it’s such a worry when our furry overlords are off colour.

cozietoesie · 03/12/2018 22:59

It doesn't sound like the chipolata. What is he being vetted for?

LanaorAna2 · 04/12/2018 09:38

Best pic evah of Matt.

Sorry to be overdramatic everyone. Mr C took one look at Nurse Lee and sneezed flamboyantly.

He is now in Lee's tender arms - checking his blood and then onto Big Vet who is sorting out what appears to be a terrible cold.

Poor little cat was so snotty last night neither of us got any sleep - but we did have a small purr at 4am. And some Dreamies. The tail thumped weakly. The chin was offered. Assurances that we were the Most Beautiful Cat In the World were accepted with our last ounce of strength.

Ollivander84 · 04/12/2018 09:50

A cold? Man flu at least! Poor Mr C

LanaorAna2 · 04/12/2018 10:34

He'll be all right, as I told repeatedly at 5am. Have promised roast chicken at the weekend.

A whole one.

Any sign of the Mabush New Neighbours?

Ollivander84 · 04/12/2018 11:05

None at all apart from some lights on. It is bitter up north so I'm not expecting them to appear in the garden

OP posts:
LanaorAna2 · 04/12/2018 12:02

That's good. Spread the rumour there is a pervert on the loose. Grin

I'm amazed - Mr C's vet bill was only 85.00. He has a terrible sore throat, antibiotics, you name it. He is going back on Friday. They didn't do blood tests because his poor little fluffy white neck was swollen. Had had hefty shots of antibs and painkillers.

We are back on throw, with a tin of sardines for lunch. A frail, thready purr is emanating from duvet. High as a kite from lovely opiates.

Weezol · 04/12/2018 12:29

Might there be photographic evidence of Mr C in recovery?

Ollivander84 · 04/12/2018 12:42

Ollie says cuddle da human for warmth an get soup for throat. An he can have a lend of the heated blankie if he doesn't drool on it

OP posts:
LanaorAna2 · 04/12/2018 13:34

Mr C sends regards and thanks to all wellwishers Grin especially grateful for the offer of the treasured and unique monogrammed blankie Grin

I'll try for a sickbed shot later. He looks awful, as it happens. Very threadbare and spiky. Not the usual unfeasibly large lump of lush hogging the sofa.

Ollivander84 · 04/12/2018 18:55

Someone is tired...
