It's OK - I'm not despairing. Smile

Ollivander84 · 29/09/2017 22:34

Half my wardrobe just collapsed if that entertains you Grin
Ollie trotted in, looked solemnly at it and reversed at speed Hmm

Lanaorana2 · 29/09/2017 22:53

Oh no O - leave it till the morning. Don't fix it now as if it goes again you and Olli will get The Fear in the night.

C Robin was a really gruesome compare 'n' contrast Winnie the Pooh schweetness with the reality of the characters' and authors' lives.

CR himself was only child, born to a negligent mother & absent father, primarily used as a show pony to boost the Milne coffers when Winnie & Co went bestseller. He never understood why his childhood, and indeed only time spent with his father, was commercialised at his expense. He was sent to boarding school the day after he stopped looking cute in a smock and bullied senseless for a decade.

AA Milne and Ernest Shephard, the illustrator, both had appalling shell shock. Mrs Milne went to parties and had affairs. CRs nanny, who was the only decent human being in the whole film, was sacked for pointing out how badly her charge was being neglected/monetised.

Not sure how much of it is true, but I'm guessing a lot, because the Milne estate has a lot of money and would sue if it weren't.

If he likes catnip, could you stitch a few sachets and tuck them inside pillowcases, behind sofa cushions etc. ?

cozietoesie · 29/09/2017 23:30

He appears to think that the bed is comfortable. Been sitting there for about a quarter of an hour. (Maybe the heat of the electric blanket is coming through for him.) Smile

Lanaorana2 · 29/09/2017 23:33

RESULT. Why not try sneaking into it. He will get off but I bet you he'll hop back on when you fall asleep.

I think this latest advance is a scheduling reminder that it is Your Bedtime, and you know what you have to do.

How cold is it in Scotland at the moment? It's about 12c here and no way am I switching the heating back on until I resolve my dispute with British gas. They want to increase my direct debit from £79 a month to £106 a month, despite my account being £1600 in credit.
Apparently they can't authorise a refund because it's over £1000 and can't alter direct debit as the "system" works it out.
My boy is re-floofing nicely in the unheated environment. I'm perfectly prepared to use wood stove only for the winter if necessary.

cozietoesie · 30/09/2017 00:24

I can smell the scent of battle in my nostrils, Weeds. Take 'em on. Grin (Put in a formal complaint - they go slightly loopy when they get one of those.)

(It's not that cold physically - but he only has short hair. I worry. Blush)

Weeds you must do what C says ie write a complaint. Tell them what you want ie no DD and your paid money also used up. There is a 3-step process, just go through it. Don't ring. Write. Be clear about what you want and when. Keep repeating.

I did this, and while it took 6 months, it wasn't much effort, and they sent me 1k compensation which they have to do if they cut you off when you've paid the bill merrily for 20 years. Now I think about it, I think they've put me onto debt collectors again, you've just reminded me. :) Happy days :)

Weeds here is the address
www.britishgas.co.uk/content/dam/british-gas/documents/homecare-complaints-policy.pdf

Don't be put off. You are not dealing with honest people, so don't get exasperated (impossible not to). Just keep ticking their boxes so they have to either pay you back or get done by the ombudsman. Tick boxes in writing, that's what they're looking for because they can deny oral comms.

Thanks for the advice Lana and cozie. I want my money back and then I'll switch to someone else as a supplier. Complaint will be made!
Meanwhile my boy is looking very cute in his fluffy winter coat, so it's not all bad.
I'm looking forward to the return of his ruff in all it's glorySmile

YetAnotherSpartacus · 30/09/2017 10:44

^and we are looking forward to the photos

cozietoesie · 30/09/2017 12:10

Remember to tell them to write to you. (Just practise - in front of the mirror, say - saying 'Just put it in writing please.') They'll probably try to phone you and soft-soap you - they HATE writing about things - and their people 'ought' to be very very good at .......avoidance. There will likely be lots of 'Shall we just call that complaint closed them?' or little bits sneaked into letters saying something like ' If we don't hear from you by ........ we will consider this matter satisfactorily resolved etc etc.

Stay alert, anyway. Grin

He's definitely not used to being answered back. Wink (He seems to run out of steam after about 8-10 yowls.)

Lanaorana2 · 30/09/2017 23:20

He's telling you! What do you think he is saying - might it be a menu request?
