Oh yes, another vote for mayo from MCat. He's mad for it.

cozietoesie · 29/09/2017 11:35

I can just imagine a pet shrink reading the case notes 'A young but full grown Siamese, rehomed away from the only home he's ever known due to (pretty serious) fighting with an older resident Siamese, is showing signs of serious stress in his new home'.

If I were the shrink, I'd run shrieking from the room. Grin

He's not bad today. Smile Lots of talking yesterday evening and this morning.

(The TVs go on just after lunchtime. Wink)

Ollivander84 · 29/09/2017 11:47

He's probably bemused, confused, wondering where the other cat is, wondering who the new Creature is and will they feed him well and will he get strokes and where can he sleep and... trying to work out new rules

YetAnotherSpartacus · 29/09/2017 11:52

Mmmmm I still think that some gentle moves towards 'being friends' - waving toys (even if he ignores them) and making a fist for him to sniff (with hidden food) and the like might be a good idea :). I can't help thinking this is a sitcom where each of you is expecting the other to make the first non-threatening move.

I'll be interested to know if he 'does' catnip... I read once that orientals (is that still PC language for cats??) tend not to.

I don't think Newboy plays ... but I agree that it (the ribbon) is a relatively non-threatening as well as potentially enticing way of ice-breaking.

Ollivander84 · 29/09/2017 12:23

Weirdly Ollie isn't too fussed. He rubs his head on it then looks confused and wanders off

YetAnotherSpartacus · 29/09/2017 12:34

Mama I no like vegetables? ? I'm a CAT?

Ollivander84 · 29/09/2017 12:36

Pretty much. I asked him to teach Newboy about humans yesterday and tell him how to say mama and I got this face (I was trying to video for cozie but he flatly refused to say anything)

He seems to like Catnip very much. When I bought his first cardboard scratching lounger, it came with a sachet of catnip of which .I sprinkled half on the lounger. I turned round to clean his tray and, looking back, found he'd taken up position on the lounger. 30 seconds or so?

I've bought a big tin of catnip for him Smile

Ollivander84 · 29/09/2017 12:40

Just checked pets at home
Pet stages is the brand that clips together. This is the one I have, comes with catnip and a ball inside it (very noisy!!!)

Of course. He's a CAT.

How can you resist not always kissing that beautiful nose? He's such a charmer.

Lanaorana2 · 29/09/2017 15:04

IME, if catnip is put in a pet-size box it's an all-out double feline entertainment fantasia.

I actually took Lana's suggestion and have started putting the odd treat on the bedspread. Trouble is that he may think that the bed just spontaneously generates treats rather than being a place for cuddle. Still - at least he'll come onto it now. Smile

Ollivander84 · 29/09/2017 16:10

Hopefully he will link treats and cuddles with you and the bed which can only be a good thing

I think bed = good things is a definite idea whether it be cuddles or food!

cozietoesie · 29/09/2017 19:32

He just came up on the bed without being told that there was a Treat there.

(He received one for that action, of course. Wink)

Lots of talking bouts today. 4 or 5 maybe?

NoSquirrels · 29/09/2017 20:58

GrinYay! He's getting closer...

RubbishMantra · 29/09/2017 21:48

I wonder what he's trying to tell you...

cozietoesie · 29/09/2017 21:55

Lack of constant food, probably. Sad

Lanaorana2 · 29/09/2017 22:15

C don't despair! faint heart never won fair furry!!!!!!! - as Sir Lancelot scolded King Arthur, via Milton, not.

You have come a staggeringly long way. So has Newboy thanks to you. Spring is starting to unwind new green fuses in little Newboy's poor winter heart - but you can't see them yet, it's still boring brown earth.

He is about to begin afresh, afresh, afresh. Beautiful.

1 glass of wine only i promise.

A propos of nothing I have just been to see C Robin film. Dear God it was depressing. The only good bit was discovering AA Milne was really called Alan.
