SadSad
My dcat have been looked after by friends for some long time because our situation demanded it and came back weighing 6.8 kgs.
He had steady weight loss and was doing so well with starting to play and jump about more and reaching rear end to clean finally without rolling over. All the nasty knots in fur were all gone and he was looking so good and well.

Then he stopped eating drinking or doing anythong really. I booked an appt at vet but the day before taking him in whilst I was out, dc text to say he was eating his usual biscuits yay! So I called in to cancel appt.

Expected it could take some time to recuperate but I didnt see any eating. As they share bowls and no way of separating that i I could see I kept close eye.
I thought at one time dehydrated so syringed water to rehydrate which worked and he was behaving more normally but obvs still revovering. I suspect though that no food eaten and taken back to vets as so worried about him.
He never had any ailments at all and always been a darling and fit as a flea.
What worries me desperately is that he had a strange smell about him that I couldnt place. Like chemicals I noticed it early on and was stupid I think nnot to be suspiciius straight away. I have linked that in my head with this now thinking maybebhe drank from the loo with chemical in it!!!!!!!! Vet kept him for bloods/x-ray/poss op but very soft abdo so not thinking its tumour or blockage. Vet noticed yellowing and I already thought gums looking quite pale. Whats happened and so worried hes gonna die Sad SadSad
Sorry is so long. Didnt wanna drip feed or have anything misinterpreted

It's early days and he's on a lot of medication. Is he taking mirtazapine (as appetite stimulant) as that can make them a bit spaced out?

cozietoesie · 10/12/2016 19:45

Yes. He's on a lot of meds In total.

Shriek · 10/12/2016 22:15

Thats a relief to hear. Yes on mirtazipine for apetite. I hope last one today

Also ...super response just now showing interest in a wire moving. Didnt move or anything but very encouraged by it Grin. Still lots of crying Sad he mist feel so strange and ill on all those meds. Poor love. Still purring when cuddled (gently) though and just trying to do that as much as possible.

Thanks again for providing some undestanding for me Flowers Xmas Smile

Hello, what good news, I am so pleased.

I was TheSparklyPussycat for a while :) Now that DCat has gone to live in the sky (around which time I received much help on The Litter Tray), I sometimes swing by. I am an old gimmer, so won't get another, but am a cat charmer, and have cat lady friend, so am getting to know local cats and still have cat interaction (turned up the other day, one of their DCats had to go to vet, he is 8 and v strong, took 3 of him to stuff put him into cat carrier). Hope you don't mind slight derail...

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 11/12/2016 14:06

Sorry for stealing part of your name Silvery!

TheSilveryPussycat · 11/12/2016 14:06

3 of us* - with 3 of him we'd have had no chance!

TheSilveryPussycat · 11/12/2016 14:08

No apology necessary - "and we all shine on" :) Brew Brew

Shriek · 11/12/2016 19:32

Hello Silvery ! Its Fi from fairyland!

Poor dcat looking so yellow and thinking theres chance he may not get better? But he seems to be feeling some better because he caught a piece of ribbon I was dangling today and caught me too! (ouch!)

Is he getting more yellow Shriek ?

One of our cats had the same condition, and when he became more jaundiced rather than less despite treatment, our usual vet referred us onto a specialist with better diagnostic facilities and vets who were experts. Our cat was taken as an emergency and we saw the specialist the same day.

TheSilveryPussycat · 11/12/2016 20:35

Yay! Fi!

Twas a small bite on one paw. He's doing fine.

Shriek · 11/12/2016 21:58

Oh good Silvery
msmims (subjectively) more yellow looking but seeming to be more active and tongue is now looking really nice and pink. Eating and drinking well. Not sure about poos as not managed to catxh him at it at the moment but peeing plenty.

I will phone them I think on their emergency number.

Shriek · 12/12/2016 21:36

Thank you so much. Will miss the little dark body next to me in the night. Hope for some better news in the morning. At least is getting pain relief and anti-nausea meds now so should be a lot more comfortable.

cozietoesie · 12/12/2016 21:59

How is the other cat doing? Smile

Shriek · 12/12/2016 22:15

Oh hes got the night off and a bit lost. He has become nurse, confidante and 24 hr wash service. Wherever he'd settle so would nurse/carer follow, very closely, which wasnt always wanted! He's being a lot more demanding than usual. Bless him.
