SadSad
My dcat have been looked after by friends for some long time because our situation demanded it and came back weighing 6.8 kgs.
He had steady weight loss and was doing so well with starting to play and jump about more and reaching rear end to clean finally without rolling over. All the nasty knots in fur were all gone and he was looking so good and well.

Then he stopped eating drinking or doing anythong really. I booked an appt at vet but the day before taking him in whilst I was out, dc text to say he was eating his usual biscuits yay! So I called in to cancel appt.

Expected it could take some time to recuperate but I didnt see any eating. As they share bowls and no way of separating that i I could see I kept close eye.
I thought at one time dehydrated so syringed water to rehydrate which worked and he was behaving more normally but obvs still revovering. I suspect though that no food eaten and taken back to vets as so worried about him.
He never had any ailments at all and always been a darling and fit as a flea.
What worries me desperately is that he had a strange smell about him that I couldnt place. Like chemicals I noticed it early on and was stupid I think nnot to be suspiciius straight away. I have linked that in my head with this now thinking maybebhe drank from the loo with chemical in it!!!!!!!! Vet kept him for bloods/x-ray/poss op but very soft abdo so not thinking its tumour or blockage. Vet noticed yellowing and I already thought gums looking quite pale. Whats happened and so worried hes gonna die Sad SadSad
Sorry is so long. Didnt wanna drip feed or have anything misinterpreted

Shriek · 15/12/2016 23:03

Just hoping beyond hope that something might suddenly change many fingers crossed. Keep sending up positive thoughts for a turn around.

DC devastated as to be expected but made the decision not to do any further invasive procedure like exploratory op as with such poorly liver not in good way for healing/clotting.

Doesnt want to face any more. Fairy nuff

I'm keeping everything crossed for you. I haven't been able to reply before as the subject is a bit close to the bone for me but I have been reading and am hoping for a really positive outcome. Flowers

EddieVeddersfoxymop · 16/12/2016 13:55

Keeping everything crossed for you, OP. One of my cats suffered cholangiohepatitis when she was 9 years old. The vets remarked that they'd not seen such a poorly cat for a while, and they gave her a very slim chance of survival. However, survive she did. She made it to the age of 14.5, when she was pts because of leaukaemia.

When investigating her weight loss etc (for the leaukaemia diagnosis) a suspicious lesion was found on her liver but we never investigated as she was too poorly by this time. I think it was "something", damage done by the cholangio but certainly was not the cause of her death.
Hoping for good news later on.

Thank you all. Your company and wishes are such a help.

Some rallying this morning but still no eating. Although showing a lot of interest. We had big cuddles inclduing with dcat's ddogs that were eagerly head-butted amd much purring. Still very poorly and yellow and trying to not be over-excited by better perkiness today. Still more weak than before downturn of yesterday. Awful night fretting last night but ecstatic for such brief reprieve this morning

Might he eat out of your hand? Sometimes that's what DCat wanted when she was v poorly.

Shriek · 16/12/2016 15:08

Oh I tried Silvery. Just even to lick my fingers with the smell and liquid on them. Was smacking lips but just feeling too sick. I have now remembered prawns becauae of your sggestiin silvery! Should try get some to take in tommorrow.

Lick e lix on fingers?

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 16/12/2016 15:12

I had to sort of shove it in the side of my cat's mouth when he didn't eat and was poorly.

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 16/12/2016 15:17

Does your vet have Hills AD? My cat is the pickiest eater ever and would only eat biscuits. When he broke his jaw and had to have it wired earlier this year they couldn't get him to eat so gave him some AD which he ate, much to my surprise. It's a pate for recovering cats and dogs and is apparently chocolate for cats!

Shriek · 16/12/2016 16:21

Going to get hills AD! Also did try popping bits into side of mouth but were pushed out. Do you thinkbi shoukd try to push sime down like a tablet?

Eddiecat-what amazing survivor!

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 16/12/2016 16:27

Check with the vet that it's OK for him to have it as it's very rich. I'm not sure if you can buy it over the counter, we had to buy it from the vet and it was worth every penny - my fussy bugger even took his antibiotics in it!

TheSilveryPussycat · 16/12/2016 18:23

Check prawns too - they were really too high protein for DCat I think, with her kidneys.

Shriek · 16/12/2016 21:07

Ah ok. Thanks for tip. Will check with update tomorrow. thinking high calorie would be good but not necesaarily high protein. For now I think anything would be good

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 16/12/2016 21:13

This is the Hills - Hills AD

Vinorosso74 · 16/12/2016 22:00

Hi, still got paws crossed here. What got Vinocat eating was Schesir food, warmed slightly in the microwave. Out vets sell it and it's fairly natural ingredients buy check it's ok for him.

Vinorosso74 · 16/12/2016 22:00

*but not buy I do not work for Schesir.
