Ollie is missing and I'm hysterical sobbing. Searching since 4am and no sign

I clicked on this morning, really hoping he was safe back with you.

Take comfort in the fact he knows how to look after himself, and you're doing all you can to get him home. (not much comfort I know, until he's snuggling up to you)

He may've got a whiff of a female in heat, they're still interested, even without their tackle.

Hold onto the fact that he 's streetwise, having been stray for a a few years. And this is the time of year is when they're most likely to go walkabout.

^that is a very, very good point.

Yes CPL said there has been a surge of cats going walkies with the recent weather
He was neutered late, possible with a female
I've also ( don't laugh!) "told" all the local cats to go find him. One is a very cute tabby who slow blinked at me when I told her, miaowed and jumped up to sniff around

No laffing here. I've asked my 2 lads to send "Go home Ollie" vibes to your beloved cat. Little Monsieur has just cheek-rubbed the laptop.

Proof of then still getting the horn, is BOTH of my cats will get it on with any floofy object. Even if he's not participating, he may well be fascinated with an alluring female on his patch.

The other night MCat didn't come home for his dinner. Much past his lock-down, he sauntered in, blood all over his face. I thought he'd been in a fight, but on inspection, it wasn't his blood. He'd been engrossed in stalking, killing and having a munch. Ollie could have discovered a nest of bunnies. Then them feral genes kick in...

I have a feeling he'll come home.

I found some helpful people yesterday. One invited me in to show me their litter of silver coloured kittens. I left sharpish before I ended up with Ollie and a full litter

When my cats went missing, I asked all of the local cats to bring her home (I had some of her smells with me in case she smelled those). Blush I'm not even a remotely woo person Blush

I've done everything
Imagining the house bathed in light to cal him home, golden strings between me and him. Prayed to st Anthony for lost things (that one has never failed me yet)
Imagined him walking through the door or my phone ringing and the vet saying we have him...

Don't give up hope, my silly little boycat went walkabout in February. We got him back 8 weeks later, he had managed to get to the other side of town.

I've retweeted and I've shared the Cat Aware tweet. Did Cats Protection really tell you to try again in 3 weeks?!

I have to say they seemed very blasé about it - almost 'oh well, cats go missing, what's the problem?'

I don't blame you for not listening. I can remember phoning all the local ves when Harry went missing for the first time. Most were lovely but one was almost sneering as it had only been half a day. I managed to hold it together and inform her in my best snotty voice that I know my cat and he does not go missing, even for a few hours. I then put down the phone and sobbed.

Don't feel shit, you're doing all you can and you need to take care of yourself. Harry went missing 2 weeks after I'd had surgery. I was due to go back to work the following Monday but ended up being off for longer and I'm sure it was partly because I was walking around for hours, bending, lifting and looking under things and climbing ladders (don't tell work that though!).

Please look after yourself Flowers

Oh that sounds hopeful. Fingers crossed Ollie will come out hungry, desperate for a cuddle and probably furious!

If you find a likely place, best try to go in yourself. He's a black cat which is difficult to see when holding itself very still. (And as an ex stray, his deepest instinct will likely be to hunker down and say nothing if faced with a stranger.)

hollinhurst84 · 18/06/2016 21:15

Yep. The bloke looked at me and went "oh shit, I know where that is"
