Went out last night for 2 hours, before I went I fed the kittens and shut them in the living room.

I came home and looked for them, they're nowhere.

The living room door was still shut, but they were nowhere to be seen!

In my living room is a corner sofa. One chair, a TV and 2 Toy boxes and a fireplace. They aren't in any of them!!!

They are 4 orphaned/ dumped 6 week old kittens! How on earth have they vanished???? Where are they???

I've sat in there in the quiet and listened. No scratching. Now I've put food down and shut the door again hoping they'll eat then I'll know they're alive Sad but where on earth could they be!

I have to put the house back together before DS gets back, I can't leave it unsafe because of his disabilities. So I'm doing that now and then I'm going to sit down here in the quiet with some microwaved food out on the floor.

I thought I heard a kitten meowing just then but it was the washing machine squeaking SadSadSad

Good luck, Hurr1cane.

I once had a cat climb down when I took up a floorboard, made her way between the joists into the small roof over a bay window, seemingly couldn't find her way out. I pushed an inspection lamp into the roof space and she walked out.

If they have hidden up the chimney or under the floor you could try that.

Hurr1cane · 27/09/2014 14:38

Thanks wantacat. I'm gutted :(

check every drawer in the house - we once lost a kitten - it was asleep in a drawer of clothes...someone had then gone past and shut the drawer. Mewing was pretty muffled from in there.

Hurr1cane · 27/09/2014 14:48

I've checked all the drawers. I've checked everywhere. Completely everywhere.

it's a lamp on a long cable

but I expect a torch or lantern would do. Cat's don't need much light.

Hurr1cane · 27/09/2014 14:53

I put a torch up there and I've taken loads of photos with the flash on and can't see any kittens Sad

Get a Jack Russell in ( on a lead). My neighbours once ran in my house having never visited before, and had the cat's head in it's jaws in about 0.1 seconds, thankfully I got him off.

MissSusanStoHelit · 27/09/2014 14:58

Hope you find them - my rescue disappeared through a teeny window gap too, so I know just how it feels!! She came back 2 weeks later, looking sheepish and covered in burrs... I was SO happy to see her!

BlueBrightBlue · 27/09/2014 15:05

Tumble dryer, washing machine, rolled up duvet/sleeping bag, under the cover of sewing machine, boiler cupboard, inside duvet cover, ditto pillow.
They are in the house.

The naughty little fuckers!!!!!
AngryAngryAngryAngryAngryAngryAngryAngryAngryAngry

Not only are they in the fireplace. The little shits can get out as well. I've just gone back downstairs and thought

"Huh that's weird, DSs spelling letters are all knocked over, hang on, there's sooty footprints on the food bowl. Wait a minute, there's a kitten shit in the litter tray, what's going on"

And as I was knelt down looking at the evidence a tabby face appeared in the hole and clocked me and fucked off back inside!!!

When I get hold of them, I'm having them for Sunday lunch!

whew!

smokeandglitter · 27/09/2014 15:12

Yes, I mentioned perhaps looking where they were found earlier. It has been known to happen before that little kittens have gone back.

BelleateSebastian · 27/09/2014 15:16

Sizzlesthedog · 27/09/2014 15:16

Great news!

YoureAllABunchOfBastards · 27/09/2014 15:17

Hurray!

VivaLeBeaver · 27/09/2014 15:17

That's made me laugh.

God knows how you're going to get them especially if they keep shooting up. Actually I mentioned a chimney sweep before.......
