Need urgent advice for a tiny kitten!

I've rescued a kitten who has been rejected by it's mum. It was one of two, Mum took the bigger one and never returned. Poor little thing was calling for her all yesterday and it broke my heart keeping my distance but today it started to go very quiet and shakey so I've taken it in. I know nothing about kittens no idea how old it is (fits easily into my hand, massive eyes and ears, very skinny wobbly legs that look a bit too long for its little body). I've given it tiny drops of milk from a syringe (sp?) prob takes 1ml at a time before it starts to refuse. What do I do (mostly regarding feeding but other advice would be much appreciated)? Live abroad so no shelters or rescue homes so I'm on my own with this one.

Ok meant to be teaching but just to say Coco can leap! Oh my goodness I'm turning into one of those mothers who won't stop takling about every minor detail but about a kitten Smile

Envy at 'Leaping Kitten'. I want one.

SecretNutellaFix · 10/05/2012 18:49

Is it possible she may be a bit older than you thought and she was so poorly it affected her that way?

crazynanna · 10/05/2012 18:54

ok oh wise kittencat people....

how the feck do you stop a 7mo kitten nibbling and licking her 7 hour neutering op site, and who pulls off her 'lampshade' 0.2 seconds after putting it on?????!!!! Hmm

SecretNutellaFix · 10/05/2012 18:58

Is she actually opening the collar, or just wriggling out?

If it's the former, duct tape over the join.

crazynanna · 10/05/2012 19:03

She is wiggling out of it....doing somersaults and backflips to get it off!!! I dare not tie the strap any tighter in fear of strangulation...my last attempt I am sure I saw her eyes bulge Blush

I have closed the lounge door to keep shouting "OI!!!" when she nibbles it...but she is clever and hides behind chairs to nibble. I am scared she will burst it or get an infection Sad

Pinot · 10/05/2012 19:03

crazy I was thinking about Pops today! How is she? Did she have the cut on her tummy or her side?

Pinot · 10/05/2012 19:04

either way, a blob of vaseline will help soothe the itchiness (and hopefully she wont like the taste)

crazynanna · 10/05/2012 19:10

Smile She is absolutely fine Pinot thank you...completely naughty normal!

Made her boiled skinless chicken breasts which she ate without drawing breath Shock. The vet said she got aggressive when coming round from the anesthetic!! I am so shocked!! She has never even so much as hissed at anyone before...I was tre Blush

Good idea re the vaseline...it won't affect the glue used, will it?

crazynanna · 10/05/2012 19:11

oh and it is on her side...with a massive shaved bit. She looks like Sid Snot gone wrong Grin

Pinot · 10/05/2012 19:12

It's fine to use, crazy, I did the same with my minxy girl after hers. Mine is always a bit of a snarky cowbag though :o

SecretNutellaFix · 10/05/2012 19:13

I don't think I know a female cat who isn't tbh.

crazynanna · 10/05/2012 19:23

ok vaseline on...let's see how she goes.

Thank you everyone Smile

Coco sounds stronger!

SecretNutellaFix · 11/05/2012 12:48

How is Coco today?

ripsishere · 11/05/2012 13:00

Needing the leaping Coco update to brighten my gloomy day.

LST · 11/05/2012 13:53

How's the little lamb this morning? Smile

ripsishere · 11/05/2012 16:44

Little lamb?
Just using my sarcasm as a gentle bump BTW.

Fluffycloudland77 · 11/05/2012 16:49

I need to know!

I'm going on hol and wont have good connection for a week.

3littlebadgers · 11/05/2012 18:10

Sorry ladies my friend had a little baby girl so I've been out all day Smile Husband has been on Kitten duty which will have done them both the world of good. Feel slightly Envy though as Coco is showing definate favouritism in his direction.
Coco is doing fine, not really much to tell other than that which I am guessing is a good sign. Took her out V. early this morning to meet the outside world (as we live in an apartment and she hated it). Still v small yet though so it must have been quite scary. fluffy I hope you have a lovely holiday off anywhere nice? [nosey emoticon]

Dartmouth, forecast rain.

Coco is love-bombing your dh. She know's he isnt a mad animal lover so is being oh-so-cute to get him on side.

When you hear him referring to himself as "daddy" to her you know she has won. Other symptoms include saving bits of his meals for her and letting her sleep on the bed. On his pillow. While he sleeps on the mattress.

Our cat knows dh loves him so is secure enough to ignore him. Still gets the treats though.

3littlebadgers · 11/05/2012 18:29

How funny I'll keep an eye on them both. Enjoy Dartmouth in the rain and don't forget your wellies Smile

Awwww. Soppy face from me.
One of my boys slept with me last night, on my DHs pillow. Luckily DH only uses it once every six weeks or so.
Must buy some flea drops today.

LST · 12/05/2012 09:44

Haha rip I thought that too when I'd posted it. I call everything little lamb Blush

ripsishere · 13/05/2012 09:47

How is the little kittylamb today

3littlebadgers · 13/05/2012 17:37

Coco is doing great but I'm feeling very guilty as I've not been around yesterday or today. My friends newborn is in hospital as her kidneys aren't working quite right (from what I gather it's more dehydration than anything else) so I've been helping them out. DH has been feeding the kitty (and the children) and looking after her but I've come home not long ago and she doesn't half stink. If I gave her a few white stripes and called her a skunk I'm not sure anyone would bat an eyelid, apart from being a bit Shock at seeing a skunk in Turkey that is. If I can get myself organised I'll try and take a few more photos tomorrow and stick them up.
