@BigBundleOfFluff that's his favourite way of entering the house!🤣🤣

Riverlee · 30/08/2023 21:39

Happy birthday Sundog.

Suppose I’d better change RiverPup’s name to Riverdog now, as he’s 14 months old. Or Stupid-Dog as he cut his leg badly when playing fetch in the garden. Off to the vet we went… (photo before vet)

Gizlotsmum · 30/08/2023 21:47

@Riverlee oh that looks scary!!

Happy birthday Sundog

Riverlee · 30/08/2023 22:04

The thing is, Stupid-Dog carried on playing. It’s only when we spotted blood on the paving that we realised something was up. He carried on running around. I’m glad the police didn’t raid us, as there was large spots of blood everywhere!

Sounds like something my pup would do, he still eats grass despite the grass seed incident!!

AnnieSnap · 30/08/2023 22:08

@EinyLinky it varies a lot. I’ve had lots of dogs if different breeds over the years. Don’t worry, he’ll get it and be rock solid after that.

AnnieSnap · 30/08/2023 22:33

Ahh, poor Riverpup/dog. What did the vet say?

Losingmymind85 · 31/08/2023 11:48

We're getting into a bit of a routine but the biting between 5-8pm is still really awful. My DD got such a fright last night as he was lunging that she threw a chew toy right at him
to try and protect herself. Really walloped him, huge yelp. It was an accident but she's now refusing to be anywhere near him.
He can be so lovely. Loves being on a lap and has stopped lunging for hands when being stroked which is huge progress. Just have to keep being consistent and trying to get DD to see him at his quiet times only until things get better.

Riverlee · 31/08/2023 19:39

Basically it’s a small, but deep cut. Went back for a check-up today. They were going to leave the dressing off until we were about to leave, he stood up and it was bleeding again. They’re going to stitch it when he has The Op tomorrow. He’ll be gone all day. Weird to have a dog free day.

AnnieSnap · 31/08/2023 23:49

@Riverlee bless him. I hope it all goes smoothly.

Losingmymind85 · 01/09/2023 11:13

@Riverlee hope op goes well.

BigBundleOfFluff · 01/09/2023 11:20

@Riverlee good luck for riverpup today is The Op = THE OP? And they are stitching him up for his injury at the same time?

Riverlee · 01/09/2023 12:03

Yes, it’s THE OP. Just raced around local area looking for inflatable neck collars (no one has his size in stock), plus have a recovery suit due to arrive today via Amazon. Typically, a mini heatwave is forecast so may be hot for him to wear, but don’t really think the Cone of Shame is practical in his crate at night. A dog brain game book has just arrived which I ordered yesterday (although quick glance through shows not a lot of original ideas). Yes, and stitching his leg also. May need to re-mortgage the house at this rate!

Cocopuff · 01/09/2023 14:18

Good luck for Riverpups op and stitching today @Riverlee

Gizlotsmum · 02/09/2023 14:25

@riverlee hope river pup is doing ok! So new one found out today gizlotspup hates bridges! Practising the walk to the new school with my son ( he will be doing it on his own) and pup had a total freak about crossing the footbridge ( both ways) coaxed across by treats and my daughter but totally threw me!

Riverlee · 02/09/2023 14:30

Riverpup was very subdued yesterday and cried a lot. Hated it when dh or myself weren’t around so we slept downstairs with him. We’re very tired today.

The cut turned out to be a polyp. The vet was concerned how much it bled, so sent it away to histology.

He seems perkier today. Still very quiet but okay.

Gizlotsmum · 02/09/2023 15:03

@Riverlee oh that sounds hard on all of you. Although quiet is good for recovery

Riverlee · 02/09/2023 15:33

@Gizlotsmum i’ve done a couple of training sessions with a trainer that does walks in real life situation, rather than a field or hall. We went over a bridge and she commented some dogs don’t like them due to change of surface underfoot and bounce etc. we’ve also been in a lift with the dogs which was interesting. I was more nervous than the dog. The man who said it was okay for us to enter the lift with him looked less sure when a lab and retriever got in the small lift with him!

foxylab2023 · 02/09/2023 16:33

May I join. New puppy incoming in a couple of weeks!

AnnieSnap · 02/09/2023 18:39

@Riverlee sorry to here that Riverpup and you are having a tough time. I hope the biopsy shows no problems.

tizwozliz · 02/09/2023 19:41

Hope Riverpup is feeling better soon

We've had our first beach visit today 😁 and also the first tick 🤢

Also lost a tooth in a battle with a doormat

AnnieSnap · 02/09/2023 23:15

@tizwozliz sorry to hear about the tick. I’d be delighted to see Florapup lose teeth, even if it was in battle with a doormat 😳

tizwozliz · 03/09/2023 06:43

Photos didn't post yesterday

Can I join you..

Mimi joined us on Tuesday. She is a 13 week Welsh Sheepdog and has been amazing so far. Initially she was a tad bossy with our 2yr old Springador but that soon settled. A bit bitey but not too bad. Sleeps well during the day. Takes a while to get to sleep at night but will usually go through till 5:30-6am before needing to go to the toilet.

Here she is sunning herself with our Springador.

AnnieSnap · 03/09/2023 12:30

@Sunrisemouse welcome, Mimi is beautiful.
