@Cocopuff

Will have to look back to tag others as cannot remember all names.

Aww I do hope she's secure ❤️ here she is from Saturday, when our quick river walk turned into a few hours (with breaks). I try not to over-walk her but it's hard to stick to the recommended times unless we stay local. Tbf she seemed delighted to be out somewhere new.

@Luckycat1 awwww- she's smiling!!

Titsolina · 21/06/2023 10:03

Marking my place, due to bring our cocker spaniel puppy home in a couple of weeks!

Argh so did school run without Gizlotspup, left him with a licky mat ( he’s had it before) and he has eaten most of it. I am now monitoring him closely! Twuthund that he is! Cow ears only from now on!

Orangebadger · 21/06/2023 17:37

@Titsolina awwww gorgeous pup! Are you ready??

@Gizlotsmum oh no!! Hope no adverse effects arise! Poo will be interesting!

Had to take Orangepup to the vet yesterday evening as she was not walking on her front leg. I was worried as when we went for a walk that morning she had been playing with a VERY boisterous 9 month old cocker. I am normally very relaxed about high energy dogs as she's very boisterous herself. But even I thought this was maybe a bit too much. They shaved her paw and couldn't see anything there, gave her some anti inflammatory. She's still licking it today, is walking on it but she's slow on it still. Have a routine vet check up tomorrow anyway, hoping they just think it's a bruise and she needs no further prodding as that would be under an anaesthetic. 🤞

@Luckycat1 awww the lovely lucky pup! Always good to have an independent dog! I could not handle a Velcro dog at all!

@BigBundleOfFluff I love retrievers, lovely dogs! We did consider one, but as DH is a bit tidy obsessed we thought he would never cope with the shedding and tbh I think it's was the right choice, he struggles with the tiny amount of fur our cat leaves behind!

Oh gorgeous! @Titsolina Hello puppy 🥰

@Gizlotsmum unluckypup ate most of one of her beloved squeaky balls, and it did just pass through her. Now squeaky balls are strictly an emergency recall device only, to her great upset. Hope gizlotpup is OK 🙏

Oh poor orangepup @Orangebadger I would be so worried, but i am prone to catastrophising! If the vet wasn't too concerned I'm sure it'll be OK, but horrible to see our pups hurt.

Gizlotsmum · 21/06/2023 18:38

Oh no hope orangepup is ok. So Gizlotspup has eaten dinner ( got hangry so a good sign) and is still his usual self so fingers crossed.

Titsolina · 21/06/2023 19:05

@Orangebadger we're not feeling very ready yet but spent a day puppy proofing over the weekend & yesterday. Just essentials to buy now. It's so overwhelming, like welcoming a newborn baby. I had a moment of panic earlier 'what if he doesn't like it here' but soon taken over by excitement!

Britintheusa · 22/06/2023 03:21

@Orangebadger ohh I can sympathize so much. Britpup hurt her front paw doing a silly impatient jump out of my arms 😞 it seemed to be just a bruise and she was using it again. But two days ago I tried taking her on her little walk and she kept whining and fussing. I felt so guilty because I thought she was just whining for treats as we have to coax her away from the house on a walk. When I realized it was her leg hurting her I felt so bad. I carried her home and we've tried to restrict her activities as much as is possible, luckily she had a vet appointment scheduled for tomorrow anyways, so we'll get them to check it out.

Poor Britpup, i hope she's ok and paw gets better.

Orangepups seemed better yesterday morning, I guess the nights rest and drugs were still working. But in the afternoon/ evening it looks very sore. She's licking it lots which I can't stop, looks very inflamed now and just looks sad, ears down, very slow tail wag ☹️ will see what the vets think today.

I imagine paw injuries are pretty common with over excited pups!

@Titsolina . That looks like my neighbours wcs and she is a lovely little thing. It's funny watching her and Fluffpup playing in the garden together. She had a tiny turning circle whereas Fluffpup runs like an enthusiastic carthorse.
In prep for the pup coming I'd puppy proof again. Get down to their level and see what could be chewed. Anything can be chewed and over the course of the first few days even though I had puppy proofed, things migrated upwards! Easier to remove/ tidy everything off the ground and set your pup up for success than be on high alert to divert to a toy all the time.
Have you got the enzyme cleaner and lots and lots of kitchen roll?

Orangebadger · 22/06/2023 10:41

The cone of shame and antibiotics. She's not a happy pup, bless her.

Can't remember who said their partner wouldn't entertain a goldie because of the mess. They may have had a point. I gave her a brush today. Normal sized apple for scale:

tizwozliz · 25/06/2023 12:48

Hope all the pups are coping with the heat.

Little one can go out on walks now but we've not done much as it's so hot.

We've got the paddling pool out but neither of them are interested in it beyond it being an oversized water bowl.

Gizlotsmum · 25/06/2023 13:19

Gizlotspup loves his paddling pool. He also likes crunching ice cubes!

Greengreented · 25/06/2023 13:52

GreenPup also loves ice cubes and I put some in a bowl of water for her to fish out (outside in the garden) so she gets her paws in the water which hopefully cools her when it’s hot. We have a paddling pool too.

On the subject of a second puppy, two months ago when we were still in the worst of the puppy times, I’d have cried at the very thought of it. Now we’ve made progress I can see how it’s doable. My DH would never go for it so it won’t happen, but I can see how minds can be changed!

Picture attached as I don’t think I’ve shared one before, she’s seven months old.

Riverlee · 25/06/2023 14:06

@tizwozliz Tiz pup is lovely. Our lab didn’t get the ‘labs love water’ memo for several months. Now loves it, especially the sea. He was really puzzled recently when we went for a coastal walk, and wasn’t allowed on the beach (restrictions from May 1st).

@Greengreented Ted pup is lovely.

@Orangebadger poor little mite. Not a happy bunny.

@Titsolina So cute, and tiny.

Riverlee · 25/06/2023 14:07

Have people got dog paddling pools (which I presume are stronger) or ordinary paddling pools?

tizwozliz · 25/06/2023 14:19

@Riverlee - we've got this one, 2 years old now

https://www.argos.co.uk/product/4527895

It's a bit chewed round the top edges and older pup has removed at least one of the boards in the side panels but still serviceable for now.

Older pup loves water and swimming but just not a fan of the paddling pool.

BigBundleOfFluff · 25/06/2023 14:56

We got this one. She was very wary at the start, we chucked her toys in and told her to "tidy" and she dutifully rescued them.
She's ok with it but it's not the exciting activity I thought it would be.

@Riverlee We've just got an ordinary paddling pool from The Works for £6.

hennipenni · 25/06/2023 20:48

Hennipup loves her paddling pool, unfortunately she also loves to pee in it!
