Will have to look back to tag others as cannot remember all names.

@BigBundleOfFluff I haven't heard of tidy! Does she retrieve the toy and put it in a basket? Sounds like Fluffpup and Unluckypup have the same level of suspicion about water 😄

Orangebadger · 15/06/2023 14:35

@PastaPup and @tizwozliz very gorgeous pups!

Orange pup will just rip anything to bits so have not got her anything. After a while of hesitation she did join the kids in the sprinkler last weekend.

Took her out on a very late walk last night, every dog in the area was out. 3rd time off lead. Not doing too badly. I did have a super proud hound mum moment, she was playing with a collie and a lovely cocker came over to play. Cocker ran off, Orangepup followed at speed! Now normally when you own a scent hound you look with envy at the amazing recall of gun dogs and feel decidedly pants! However on this occasion, it was the cocker who would not come back, Orangepup came racing back when I whistled from quite a distance, she got several pieces of sausage for that! 😂

She's pretty much been sleeping most of the day today, occasional attempts to play with toys and then slumps again, right now on my sun lounger in the shade.

That's excellent @PastaPup long may it continue .

Bob dog is 15 weeks old now and was doing really well with his toilet training but has regressed this week and has pooed in the house 3 times, and done a few wees. So frustrating as he's staying with a friend for 3 days next week and I don't want him doing it in her house. It's bad enough that his shark teeth will put holes in her clothes! I'm wearing the same 3 outfits as he just jumps up and latches on.

Yup! I always say tidy tidy tidy when putting her toys away. So now she does it too if asked, far better than my children. Its extremely useful, she follows the laundry basket for fallen socks and retrieved them for me.
Yes very suspicious of water. But mine is a retriever and meant to retrieve fowl from lochs and burns!

PastaPup · 15/06/2023 23:14

Poor guy has soft poops this evening but he is incredible! Barked to let me know and ran to the door each time. I could honestly burst. He’s doing so well so far considering 82 hours ago he was snuggled up with his mum and siblings

He did, however, get overtired and was a bit difficult to get to bed. Just wouldn’t settle nicely.

I have never had a puppy like this. He is just divine. I chose the breeder a year ago and her dogs were dreamy. I only hope he is half as nice as them. I just love him so much. I’ve had updates since before he was conceived. I have the scan picture, videos of his birth, daily photos/videos and his weight progression from day one.

I loved all of them so much before I visited to choose and once I knew he was the one I loved him even more. I think that helps a lot. He could tear my whole house up and I’d still love him the same.

I’m in contact with the owners of all of his siblings and they’ve settled beautifully too.

I bet he’s going to be a right bastard when he’s teething/ in his teenage phase 😂I’m actually starting to get a bit scared.

I absolutely love the idea of teaching tidy! Your girl sounds so clever @BigBundleOfFluff

Orangebadger · 16/06/2023 10:17

@BigBundleOfFluff I need to train Orangpup tidy command. She just loves fallen socks to chew on! Fluffpuo sounds very useful around the house, can I borrow her please??

Hennipup is 13 weeks now, just started small walks depending on the heat. I have a doggy pushchair which I make good use of when she gets tired.
Shes still in 4 meals a day and I’m hoping to cut the last meal out soon so she’s just on 3.
House training is going ok, she alternates between her crate in the living room and large pen on the patio when she’s not in the garden (our older dog can be grumpy so have to keep them separate at the moment)
Lots and lots of socialising going on at the moment.
mum truly besotted with my little girl who I waited over 2 years for.

Flatties are so gorgeous!! She's just beautiful @hennipenni

Riverlee · 19/06/2023 11:23

Just got back from a weeks holiday, and picked up RiverPup from the home boarders. He was fine and had a good week. He was excited to see us, jumping up. We thought he would be hyper on coming home but he seems fine. Hope he doesn’t find home-life boring after having dogs to play with all week!

tizwozliz · 19/06/2023 21:39

All going well, just the interrupted sleep that's a bit wearing. Second vaccinations on Wednesday so we'll soon be out and about.

Orangebadger · 20/06/2023 09:39

@hennipenni so gorgeous!

@tizwozliz lovely photo of the 2 of them. Will you be able to walk them together or separately to start of with?

OP posts:
tizwozliz · 20/06/2023 09:52

Loose plan at the moment is older one will get a longish walk on her own, then second walk will be together, prob with little one being carried for some of it initially.

Riverlee · 20/06/2023 10:19

@tizwozliz Lovely photo. beautiful dogs.

BigBundleOfFluff · 20/06/2023 10:50

It's been exactly a year since I got this big bundle of fluff! She's my loveliest little lady love.

@tizwozliz - how did you know you were ready for a second? Did you always want 2? Starting to think about when is best to get another....and that's such a cute photo.

Happy ‘coming home’ birthday! She’s gorgeous.

Orangebadger · 20/06/2023 12:25

@BigBundleOfFluff awwww happy 1st anniversary! And those plants are still standing and I'm still impressed 😂

OP posts:
BigBundleOfFluff · 20/06/2023 12:48

She has never touched anything in the house she shouldn't have. At the start I restricted her access to the kitchen and conservatory and ultra - I mean ultra puppy proofed. Once she was 6 months she was allowed the rest of downstairs - by that stage she knew the legal chews. The plants are all having babies now as well, it's quite stressful. Duck #57 isn't faring so well though....

tizwozliz · 20/06/2023 13:02

@BigBundleOfFluff - we'd discussed a second on and off without really reaching a conclusion and I'd been idly looking at litters from time to time. And I always thought that if we were to have two then I'd want a 2 or 3 year age gap maximum and I wanted a summer pup (I didn't fancy winter toilet training). Then the pup we have became available at the last minute and it seemed like fate (the girls are half sisters) so that was the decision made.

Orangebadger · 20/06/2023 14:22

I know I will want another, and Orangepups breed is best in a multi dog home. Not sure my DH will agree to it though! Maybe once he's recovered from the puppy days!

Lovely photos @hennipenni @tizwozliz and @BigBundleOfFluff you're all doing an excellent job of selling retrievers to me <3

Unluckypup is obv a mongrel, so I didn't really know what to expect trait wise, but she's blossomed into being quite independent (perhaps even aloof at times), very excited when people turn up, but calms down fairly quickly. Unphased at being left alone, and easy to live with as she doesn't need much attention (unless having a playful ten minutes). Occasionally chooses to sleep downstairs alone at night now. I sometimes feel a bit sad that she isn't more snoogly and needy, I guess because it's nice to be adored 😄 part of me would like a second (a more human obsessed second...) but I don't actually think I'd cope well with the extra work, and in all honesty an independent dog is probably perfect for me as I do get overwhelmed at times, but still, in another life, yes, another pup would be nice :)

BigBundleOfFluff · 20/06/2023 15:37

@Unluckycat1 Get a retriever!! They are the best.
I'm sure unluckypup is part Saluki. I've known only 2 Salukis, 20 years ago, and they were incredibly aloof. Once I was accepted, they would sit near me but they were never demonstrative at all. I'd say if unluckypup isn't scared of her own shadow then you are doing really well. Plus for me and my lifestyle I would prefer an independent dog over a Velcro one, just my personal preference. So I'll look after the beautiful long legged unluckypup in a heartbeat!!

Gizlotsmum · 20/06/2023 16:21

Not strictly puppy related but any recommendations for good boots and jackets? Nothing too flappy as Gizlotspup tries to eat them, just need some thing waterproof and with decent pockets and comfy slip on boots. I have a pair of wellies but they aren’t that comfy and trainers aren’t great in mud!

Luckycat1 · 20/06/2023 16:33

I think you're right @BigBundleOfFluff she has the saluki heart shaped face markings. And yes, she sits next to me often, but demonstrative (as in, lack of) is the word! I'll be petting her thinking, do you like this?? I know to look out for signs of discomfort like lip licks, but when she's calm I'm getting nothing 🙈

I would actually love a golden retriever one day ❤️❤️

BigBundleOfFluff · 20/06/2023 17:52

@Luckycat1 that's what I'd call a secure attachment. Bonded securely to you in that she's confident when you are not round and leave her, that she doesn't need to worry as she knows you'll be back. Happy to investigate other people but knowing that you are her person. We need another picture please.

@Gizlotsmum I'm really lucky that an ex about 15 years ago got me a pair of dubarry river boots. I would not have bought them myself but I lived in these last winter and they have never ever let me down. They look exactly like they did before but I do take care of them before putting them away each summer.
