Or a rabbit, or a goldfish, or a cuddly toy.

Haha!

@Twillow
2 pages in and all will be obvious. Soft poo, no sleep, zoomies, biting, urine everywhere and destroying your house....oh and vomit

You can't walk a Hamster, but you could walk this little doggy.

Apologies, missed this one (I'm blaming a busy day and puppy class!)

Our hamster is apparently an empty plastic box which mysteriously eats lots of tasty snacks.

I hear it. I never see it.

Very, very unlike the puppy 😂😂😂

Oh I get it now! Duh...
I'm game:

All downstairs carpets had to be thrown out and replaced with hard floor due to toilet training fails coupled with muddy paws.
Destroyed two sofas.
Ate my new Birkenstocks.
Patio door scratched from requests to go out.
Cat is now nervous wreck and lives upstairs behind stair gate (which is there to protect remaining carpets.)
Once ate a lasagna fresh out of the oven, with guests imminent.
Licks butt clean then tries to lick your face.
Stole and broke a visiting surveyor's laser measuring thing.
Will not sit anywhere in car except front seat.
Ate a parcel today.
Scared of hosepipes, taps and the shower. Makes a bath very difficult...

Better with maturity but still is like having a toddler.

cheeseisthebest · 22/11/2021 22:26

How old Twillow?
I think mine has some sort of anxiety. He can't switch off to sleep.

GuyFawkesDay · 22/11/2021 22:28

Add in:

Barks at milkman at 6am
Eats the shit of other animals (rabbit, cow and the worst, fox).
Embarrassing at all possible opportunities in public. Will train like a little angel behind closed doors or when alone on walks. Turns into rocket fuelled kangaroo X crocodile as soon as there's another person or dog about.
Digs massive holes in your garden. Always in the one part that looks OK.

3 Has always slept well so that's a plus.
LadyCatStark · 22/11/2021 22:33

Thanks for the new thread. I’ll add in eats the house, like the actual house, for reasons not to get a puppy 😂

Chunkymenrock · 22/11/2021 22:36

Can't go out for the day. Always wanting something from you. The mess. The cost. The need to remember its bladder and organise its emptying every few hours for the next 16 years...

Chunkymenrock · 22/11/2021 22:37

Perfect little doggy there!
cheeseisthebest · 22/11/2021 22:38

The barking, oh god the barking. And the squeaking.

WomblingKnobhead · 22/11/2021 22:41

I think I have the world's biggest shih tzu. He is enormous. He has now manipulated it so that he won't settle unless I lie down on the floor with him. FML!

GuyFawkesDay · 22/11/2021 23:00

Oh yeah, don't ever expect to have a pair of socks again. They will be either fill of bitey holes or stolen then dropped in random places or hidden. Potentially in aforementioned holes in the garden 🙄

MrsHerculePoirot · 22/11/2021 23:03

Thanks for thread!

pardonmytits · 23/11/2021 07:03

Thanks for the nee thread. Need to scream into the void. I HATE mornings with an absolute passion. Toddler still wakes up all night long, which I deal with as he only wants me, then the day starts at 5am and husband needs to get ready to be at work at 6.45am so I basically start every day knackered, stressed and just fucking angry at everything, having to wrangle a defiant toddler and a puppy that won’t stop jumping, whining and barking trying to get past stair gates at us/the cats, while attempting to outwardly stay calm to set an example for my 10 year old. By the time I get the kids to school and nursery and start work, I’m ready for bed! I feel so done in, and yet nothing will fix any of this but time and patience. I love our puppy but it was completely the wrong decision to get her now. Nothing to be done though. Too stubborn to give up.

WomblingKnobhead · 23/11/2021 07:23

Ah @pardonmytits your post needs to be pinned for prospective puppy owners with tiny children. Don't underestimate puppies. Hope you can get some rest later.

Up at 11.30pm as the pup who had been walked and had a last wee at 10.20pm needed a poo and a wee.
Up at midnight because smoke alarm battery failed (loudly)
Up at 5am because apparently another big wee required
Up at 6am because a poo and a wee required

Multiple stirrings in the night which disturbed sleep just because he's big and makes noise moving, shuffling and flopping.

OP posts:
GuyFawkesDay · 23/11/2021 07:45

Oh god those nights are the pits. Just when you think you've got them settled their guts decide to surprise you with elephant sized 5am poop and pee.

This will inevitably be the same week as you and the kids have the non covid snotty cold from hell and they're whining and coughing all night, as are you.

Big hugs to sleep deprived people xxx

cheeseisthebest · 23/11/2021 07:55

I shouldn't moan as much about 90 minutes of hell each evening cos once he's asleep he generally doesn't stir until I get him up.

WomblingKnobhead · 23/11/2021 08:13

DH doesn't cope with lack of sleep so is grumpy as anything this morning telling me I'm too soft on the dog and it's my fault.

Plus pup has vomited 5 times since 7.30am. Yellow froth with woody bits. I think he's been eating beech nuts. Pooing fine though so I'm not rushing to the vet. Slightly worried though and tomorrow DD has first day back at work, DH out and I'm at work all day so pup was going to be left 2 hrs on his own for longest time ever

GuyFawkesDay · 23/11/2021 08:30

@cheeseisthebest have you tried taking pup for a sniffy walk? When FawkesPup is an evening pain with biting and hyper we take him round the block. It's only a 5 minute "walk" but takes 10-15 to sniff every bin/tree/gate, read the peemail etc. I go at his pace. He tends to start out pulling and silly and end it quite chilled as the sniffing calms him. Maybe worth a try?

FawkesPup is meeting someone who's offered to look after him for a day for us this weekend. Argh!!

nannybeach · 23/11/2021 08:41

Last year on here I got seriously flamed, someone posted about their lifestyle, said they wanted a puppy. Tell me what it's like. I didn't put half of this, yet, folk were so nasty. I don't hate dogs,I adore them I did get some apologies after said poster desided they couldn't actually give that kind of commitment. On Saturday we had a little lunch buffet for youngest DD birthday, oldest DD goes to visit loo, smaller dog has poo ed outside the bathroom door. Apart from a puppy,he's only ever done it once,a few weeks ago he suddenly wouldn't use the flap,we think he must have hurt himself going in or out. There's youngests very new boyfriend sitting a couple of feet away, me wanting the ground to swallow me up!! A few months ago my big dog kept chucking up,after 3 days off to the vet, which is an 80 miles round trip. (Yeah, I know, beer going there 25 years) have tried 5 local vets for various reasons didn't like any of them. Vet reckoned she'd eaten a bit of mouse or something left from a cat or fox.
