Or a rabbit, or a goldfish, or a cuddly toy.

That's what appeals to me TBH, the fact that if it doesn't work then nothing lost and if it's good then book on for the full neuter.

Part of me would love him to have pups as he's such a sweetie but he's not got papers etc so it'd be very silly.

cheeseisthebest · 09/01/2022 19:21

Yes I did think mine would have lovely puppies! I do feel a bit bad that his balls have shrunk so much, poor little guy!

GuyFawkesDay · 09/01/2022 19:22

Well on the basis my fool lies on the sofa with his in the air that might be a good thing here ,🤣🤣🤣 the boy has no shame!!!

Evening all. Just joining the thread and will post more soon but wanted to mark my place. CheesePup is a 10 week old sprocker who’s been home for two weeks tomorrow. He’s the most lovely little knobhead Grin

Aww, what a cutie @GiantCheeseMonster. Those eyes!

LadyCatStark · 10/01/2022 06:47

Arghhhh any ideas why Billy is waking up so early?? It was 6:30 yesterday and 5:30 today 😭😭😭. He’s always been a great sleeper and usually wakes around half 9 if left to his own devices. He’s woken up full of beans and wanting his breakfast but is on no rush to go out for a wee. He shouldn’t be hungry as nothing has changed. I can’t keep getting up so early 😭.

LadyCatStark · 10/01/2022 07:13

… and now it’s actually time to get up, he’s sleeping soundly 🙈.

Really struggling with getting any progress on TerrorPups Separation Anxiety, unsure if it's still hormonal following her split season. She was doing so well and although we're not back at the beginning it's gone very unpredictable.

Mine does that too. It's as if he just wants to display them to the world.

What a lovely little pup @GiantCheeseMonster

IggyIggyIggy · 10/01/2022 10:58

I think I'd like to join this thread. Currently looking for a cheap 'next to me crib'.

Yep, that's where I'm at Grin

Goawayangryman · 10/01/2022 11:41

@IggyIggyIggy that is hilarious :) that bad, eh?

I had a fright this morning. Pup is not quite sure about horses despite having been introduced to them from a young age. She was off lead, horse appeared out of nowhere, very lovely rider held her horse still whilst I wrestled to grab the dog's harness .... which I did with not much bother but there was a frightening "wtf if she bolts" moment.

But then, after giving the horse a wide berth, she then wants to go and investigate said horse from behind horse's rear legs. I usually always, always keep her on lead if I think there will be horses and this rear-end sniffing has happened before.

Everywhere around here has horses/ bridlepaths and so it's back on the lead wherever we may come across a horse until I can be sure she is under full control - it's like she loses her mind and is overcome by fear/ wonderment at this huge smelly beast. I suspect it is something to do with loving the smell and taste of horse manure. What better than to go and investigate the source! But it's a very bad idea for obvious reasons of responsible dog ownership.

Aria20 · 10/01/2022 12:27

@IggyIggyIggy that's a genius idea!

IggyIggyIggy · 10/01/2022 12:51

I know they're Velcro dogs but he will literally only sleep in my neck. It's very cute but I can't say I have the best sleep Grin

TheBigMacDougal · 10/01/2022 15:08

Argh, I think Macpup has definitely his teenage arseholery 😩😩😩

I’ve brought in the long line more since his deer chasing and he’s amazing on it, doesn’t try to bolt, leaves when I tell him to etc. Off it he is deaf and fucks off chasing birds. I am being very selective on where he’s let off but the safe spots we’ve had seem to now be grounds for him to circle massive loops and get dizzy sniffing after stuff.

He’s snoozing next to be while I work so I forget what a knobhead he is. I hoped we had longer until the teenager phase.

GuyFawkesDay · 10/01/2022 18:32

Well FawkesPup has elbow pain and so we have painkillers. If no improvement rapidly booking in for CT scan as he may have IOHC and this will require surgery to prevent leg fractures.

Thank £@&! For insurance eh?

Aria20 · 10/01/2022 19:02

@GuyFawkesDay is that the condition you were worried about? What insurance do you have? We have pet plan, it's not cheap and I've not had to claim on it yet touch wood so I have kind of resented paying for a high premium and been wondering what to do when I need to renew in April but goes to show it can be invaluable if something like this comes up....

Goawayangryman · 10/01/2022 19:19

Oh no @GuyFawkesDay. Hope he is alright :( and yes thank the f**k for expensive insurance when they are young. Hope it pays out and more importantly that fawkespup is ok and healthy.

GuyFawkesDay · 10/01/2022 19:51

@Aria20 yep. Vet recommended we get the scan as it's unusual to see young dogs lame on rising and he's a spaniel so....

I'm going to check on the insurance, vet said it would be covered though. We are with bought by many and I got the £7k a year cover. Apparently preventative screwing of the elbow is far cheaper and quicker recovery than fixing after a fracture.

In the meantime we are on 10 minute round the block tootles a few times a day and nothing more.

Aria20 · 10/01/2022 20:14

@GuyFawkesDay gosh I hope not. Poor pup on limited exercise he'll be frustrated! I never heard of this before but luckily not noticed any issues here!

GuyFawkesDay · 10/01/2022 20:17

I hope so too, apparently painkillers have little effect on it so if he doesn't improve quickly then we will know what to do.

Bless him, he's been fantastic so far. We are varying his 10 minute wanderings but he's more frustrated he can't go and say hi and play with his mates when we see them.

Crossing everything the painkillers work but the vet seemed pretty certain the scan would be needed.

certainshepherdpups · 10/01/2022 21:06

Fingers and paws crossed that your pup will be O.K. @GuyFawkesDay.

My pup played with our friend’s Scottie puppy today. He’s a month or so younger and much smaller than our Aussie boy. They had an initial meeting a while ago but at that time our friend’s pup was too scared to engage at all. Today they played so nicely together and mine was very gentle and clearly aware of the size difference. Very proud of him and happy they got along so well.

Didiplanthis · 11/01/2022 06:38

My puppy has only played with bigger dogs before and has been quite vocal and mouthy in play (nothing bad ) , she also finds things the big dogs cant get under or into and stands wiggling and squeaking to wind them up - today she played with a smaller dog and played completely differently, much more gentle and no gobbiness at all !

Fooshufflewickjbannanapants · 11/01/2022 11:12

Foopup will be able to have his first walk on Friday!! Crikey I can't wait!!

He won't bear weight at all today. He was better on waking then has gone rapidly downhill. If he's not better by lunchtime I have to ring the vet again.

My poor boy. He's stuck in his crate and miserable
