Or a rabbit, or a goldfish, or a cuddly toy.

Poor pup, at least a scan will help determine a plan.

LadyCatStark · 11/01/2022 12:40

Poor little man @GuyFawkesDay 😢. Hope he’s better soon.

Goawayangryman · 11/01/2022 13:03

Oh no, @GuyFawkesDay so sorry to hear that. Hope the vet can help.

MazzleDazzle · 11/01/2022 13:24

@GiantCheeseMonster he’s beautiful.

How old’s your pup @IggyIggyIggy?

We had our first walk today @Fooshufflewickjbannanapants. Bet you can’t wait for Friday! Considering Mazpup has tangled me in her lead and sent me flying many a time in the garden, she did remarkably well!

I’ve been on holiday since we got her, but went back to work yesterday. Arranged for a dog sitter to come and check on her and also set up a puppy cam. It’s reassuring to see that she’s settled when we’re not here.

GuyFawkesDay · 11/01/2022 13:24

He's on anti inflammatory painkillers and no walks and seems much more sound but I am not risking any exercise until he's had that scan.

Everything points to the IOHC/HIF condition.

MazzleDazzle · 11/01/2022 13:25

So sorry to hear that @GuyFawkesDay. Hope he’s on the mend soon.

MightyMeerkat · 11/01/2022 14:21

I haven't posted for ages but saw your post @GuyFawkesDay and just wanted to say that I'm sorry to hear about your poorly pup. I can imagine how worrying it must be. I have a sprocker about the same age as your pup and she's not been well either. Thankfully she is now recovering well but I can remember how scary it was not knowing what was wrong or how to help her.

GuyFawkesDay · 11/01/2022 14:40

Oh what happened @MightyMeerkat? It's not nice at all not know what to do for the best or how to help. At the moment I am spending way too much on enrichment toys and trying to enforce rest.

He is sounder on the painkillers and rest but I am so scared his leg is just going to snap

Get better soon vibes to Fawkes pup.

Quick question, Ada won't touch her kibble for rewards but we've had some samples and the novelty of other kibble is good enough for training purposes in the house/garden. Any suggestions of good quality kibble they sell in pets at home or similar that I could buy a small bag of for training treats?

GuyFawkesDay · 11/01/2022 17:50

Maybe something like pooch and mutt or lily's kitchen?

MsAwesomeDragon · 11/01/2022 17:51

Oh poor pup @GuyFawkesDay. I hope the vets get him sorted out quickly and thank God for insurance to cover it. I hope it's not too stressful a time for you.

We're on lakes heritage, but I'm not sure you'll be able to get hold of that unless you've got a WCF shop nearby (unlikely, unless you're in the North West, possibly even just Cumbria). It's very good though, I thoroughly recommend it.
MsAwesomeDragon · 11/01/2022 17:55

They're online!! www.wcfpetandequestrian.co.uk/products/48400/lakes-heritage-grain-free-puppy-food-chicken-with-carrot
This is the one AwesomePup is on and he loves it, will even happily accept it as rewards (he does get other things as well)

GuyFawkesDay · 11/01/2022 17:55

The Eden semi moist is what we use now, as it's cheaper and I can ration the greedy little sod.

He's 15kg! Put on over 1kg since November 🙈 so needless to say he's on a new year diet and also had had his rations cut as he's on rest.

Aria20 · 11/01/2022 17:59

@GuyFawkesDay I liked the look of pooch and mutt but a small bag is sooo expensive! What flavours does Eden semi moist come in?

Aria20 · 11/01/2022 18:02

Mine has finally decided she likes her ostrich bone... I got it for her on New Year's Eve to keep her busy when we had visitors but she wouldn't touch it, actually ran away from it a few times lol but finally she's showing an interest in it!

GuyFawkesDay · 11/01/2022 18:23

@Aria20 duck & tripe, wild pheasant and boar or a "country feast" flavour.

tizwozliz · 11/01/2022 18:25

Ada is all about novelty, she'll take pretty much any kibble as reward as long as it's not what she normally eats! Even expensive kibble is cheap compared to treats!

GuyFawkesDay · 11/01/2022 18:56

I have baked treats before: 2 eggs, tin of sardines in oil, coconut oil and coconut flour. FawkesPup loves them.

tizwozliz · 11/01/2022 19:29

I've baked treats before but the idea is I can do more training at home using complete food rather than giving her masses of treats daily.

Picked up a 1.5kg bag of lily's kitchen with 50% off in pets at home so will see how I get on with that. Only 4.50 so worth a try. I'll probably pick up some fish4dogs dry food next time I do an order as that's what we had sample packs of.

GuyFawkesDay · 11/01/2022 19:36

Very true!
My local raw/natural feed shop stocks Eden so if you can find something similar nearby they always have loads of sample bags which are superb for treats!!?

cheeseisthebest · 11/01/2022 19:38

Bloody dog just ripped a hole in my lovely new pyjamas! He's never ever ruined any clothes!! Angry
Get well soon vibes for Fawkespup.

tizwozliz · 11/01/2022 19:47

Bummer about the pyjamas, but I think you've done pretty well to get this far with no ruined clothes @cheeseisthebest

cheeseisthebest · 11/01/2022 20:47

Yes I think we have too!! He's never been much of a chewer, still obsessed with my slippers! I've forgiven him now!:Smile
