YOU season 4 *Spoiler alert*

I was surprised at the full frontal male nudity with Prince Albert included 🤣

Just finished! Are we talking spoilers? Probs need the title amending (no idea how?) so I'll talk more coded until then!

I actually did end up surprised by the "You" reveal, and am annoyed at myself as in hindsight the signs were all there!

I think this whole season is like a spoof of itself, esp the last episode which was borderline comedy. The characters are beyond ridiculous, even by You standards! I've found the love interest Kate incredibly grating, but then Love and Beck were annoying too. Joe has poor taste!

I think it's interesting they've changed the angle of the "You" person but without that insane stalker element the show is missing the thing that made it so good. It's not scary. Joe isn't threatening.

Overall I've enjoyed it and will be tuning into part 2, but I can't say I care too much where it ends up.

Side note - Penn Badgley said in an interview that he asked to tone down the sex scenes out of respect for his wife, and wow you can really tell! I far prefer it, lots of S3 was so OTT.

Do you think there will be a season 5? I’m trying to find out in order to predict the ending?

@Proudofitbabe I don’t think it’s missing the thing that made it good. My interpretation is Joe needs an obsession he needs to stalk YOU but in this series he still has an obsession with YOU but for a different reason. He is also trying to prove he is a good person? There is also the mystery of who YOU is.

It is very comical but is that the point? Thats why the characters are targets.

@LittleMrsPerfect I get the angle they've gone for, but it doesn't grab me the same. The fear factor isn't there. The show is about Joe and it's not the same when HE's the hunted.

If they're replacing threat with mystery I wonder where it'll go in part 2 now we do know the identity of YOU.

I don't mind comedy or for tossers to die, but it's just a bit mindless. Earlier seasons didn't have this parody feel.

Enjoyable, just not the YOU I came to love!

Don't think there will be a season 5 unless they go back to the nutty stalker format and repeat it in another location

Just binged it, found it very watchable but I don't think it's as good as the previous seasons. The 'rich' characters do feel like a parody and it's distracting.

Tbh I thought it was all going to be Joe and he was having a breakdown and blackouts because what are the chances he would get caught up in another serial killer situation after Love? Joe walked straight into a job where on the first night out he's been framed by a murderer...appreciate You is not supposed to be realistic but that's possibly a step too far. Especially as we already had to accept that the guy hired to track and kill him just offered him a new identity in exchange for £.

That being said I did enjoy it and am looking forward to part 2.

@Newnamenewname109870 I agree it was scarier in so many ways when Joe was just a stalker who occasionally killed in pursuit of Beck, or in S2 for Love. I feel like it's become much more murder focused(and less realistic)than stalker/obsession but because they made all the victims awful it's not such an emotional punch when they get offed.

I kind of want Joe to get caught and go through mandatory therapy to unpick why he is the way he is.

Binged it in one sitting...not quite got the same feel as the first few seasons, but I still enjoyed it.

I knew who "You" was straightaway. I thought it was quite obvious. I wonder how part 2 will pan out. "You" obviously has to die.

I finished watching the new season yesterday. While I did enjoy it... it's not what I was expecting, definitely preferred the previous seasons. But I get why they have changed it otherwise I guess it would have become a bit repetitive same story different city. I will be watching part 2 when it comes out though. Pen Badley plays his part so well.

I reckon YOU is Jessica Fletcher. She's all that's missing from this. Or Miss Marple. Or even Daniel Craig. Poor.

I don’t really like the Kate character.

Doesn’t feel like You at all. Has turned from the tense psych thriller it was into some twee murder mystery thing now. Don’t like any of the new characters and Joe has become stale.

I am watching series 4 episode 4 now. It’s not getting any better. The actress that plays Kate is so wooden it’s ruining it. The portrayal of English people is a bit cringe. I think I will give up.

I've enjoyed it but it's basically ripping off the Knives Out/Glass Onion revival of the murder mystery so far.

I think they had to take it in a different direction tho, otherwise it would just be retreading. (And series 3 was getting very silly).

I'm looking forward to the next episodes tho.

I stopped watching it as was not enjoying it at all. Did not seem like reality to me. Was also shocked at your man's penis on show. Could not finish it.

I agree. You can definitely tell PB has pulled it back from what it was.

Interesting to read re sex scenes - I mentioned this to my OH that it seemed to have toned down from the tossing off in bushes days - I’m pleased about that as find sex scenes incredibly awkward!

I quite liked it as long as I didn't try to take it too seriously! I'm interested to see how it goes from here

I’ve binged it, nearly gave up after 2 episodes but glad I stuck it out. Agree it’s like a completely different show, almost a comedy now! The sex boudoir with the Willy candles?! Kate is unlikeable, I think the whole friendship group bar Phoebe is! Maybe she’ll end up the hero?

Me neither tbh I have a sneaking suspicion it is they who gave him the book in the first episode… can I say that? 🙈

Anyway - I really like looking at Rhys so excited for part 2 😂
