The trailer has just been released and I can’t wait!

It’s probably my favourite programme atm so it’s a shame it’s ending but I’d rather that than it getting repetitive and dragged out.

Enjoyed this ep so much more than the last 2. The argument between Tom and Shiv was so tense. I wonder if that argument will change her views on her pregnancy, ie will she go ahead with it? Like others I find it hard to believe he doesn't know by now.

Shiv, Roman and Kendall are so fascinating to watch - you can tell that really they are only ever truly comfortable with eachother, (Roman in particular seems to have real difficulty in interacting with others) but they do not trust eachother at all and rightly so as they will take every opportunity to be seen to take the upper had and if that means screwing the others than all the better.

There is surely no way that Shiv's alliance with Mattson is going to work out well for her. Although I cannot get a grip on his play at all - the Ebba stuff seems too contrived to me.

I think the Lukkas stuff is totally believable. He’s very much an Elon Musk-esque character. New money, socially very awkward, hyper, v easily bored. He can’t mingle in a room of old money people who know how the “game” works. That’s way out of his comfort zone, so he sticks to vaping weed with his hangers on, being edgy. You wouldn’t want him as an enemy but sure as shit wouldn’t want to get close either.
Greg can’t offer Lukkas anything but can be an amusing plaything until he becomes boring.

I actually know Elon Musk-types through work (and my own brother is that type) but it was just exaggerated rubbish to suggest someone as smart as that wouldn't know what to do at a networking event (and wouldn't have anyone in his own firm giving him proper advice) and that he would create some scene with his bizarre "communications manager" who he voluntarily brings along. Oh, and he also doesn't know that homophobic remarks are frowned upon. It's not plausible

Yes Connor was so funny this week. Whilst Shiv and Roman in particular are really struggling with Logans death, Connor is really coming into his own. You can see how much lighter and happier he feels. I loved the comment about how reassuring Logans complete absence was.

This is so well observed!

You've never worked with my ex-boss then- a tech bro who had such an inflated sense of self-worth that he didn't believe his actions would ever have consequences, so who would have absolutely said homophobic comments.

Similar to @greennotepad my old boss was very much like this (albeit on a smaller scale). He used to have very odd outbursts where he’d make totally inappropriate jokes, missed all the cues for “accepted” social interactions and generally left chaos in his wake. He was also exceptionally talented in his specific field but totally lacking in all the soft skills. It does happen, there are plenty of people like that.

Yes I’ve experienced it too. Socially awkward but smart

Would need someone to be close by at events to feel ok

Still ran the place though

Going 'reverse Viking' made me laugh. Pillage the village.

user1471543094 · 09/05/2023 14:41

I get that Mattson could be socially awkward and need guidance - but would he really trust Shiv to do it? How would he (or even we?) know whether or not she is playing a double bluff?

In fact I have just decided that that is what I want to happen - Shiv is in fact on the boys side and is playing Matsson and that the three siblings are actually working together and not backstabbing eachother as it seems.
And they all live happily ever after.

Any chance?

LadyWhineglass · 09/05/2023 15:04

No.

tribpot · 09/05/2023 15:29

So this is the flashforward scene at the end of Succession in @user1471543094 's version:

Shiv and Tom are sitting on the verandah of their idyllic Franco-German farmhouse, looking out over their beautiful vineyard as the sun sets. Three children dressed all in white are playing together adorably on the lawn, as they watch on indulgently.

Kendall comes out to join them, he reminds them that next week he will be away in the Alps leading a wellness retreat during which world economic leaders will gather, fast and chant together to bring about greater global harmony.

Connor and Willa appear, carrying baskets of apples from their farm next store. Connor is hosting the US President for a visit next week, in his role as Ambassador to France.

Roman video calls them from New York to let them know that he's just won New Magazine of the Year for The 100, and he will be in Paris for Fashion Week as he now owns Chanel. Gerri is both Chief Counsel and their top model. She is still not speaking to Roman.

Marcia has sent flowers to congratulate Shiv and Tom - yes, Tomlet number 4 is on the way.

They all reflect that letting Greg take over Waystar Royco and getting all their money out before he destroyed it is exactly what Dad would have wanted.

Fade to black, the end.

DerekFaker · 09/05/2023 15:50

Noooo I'm still rooting for Greg to come out on top.

And I can't stand Tom. Utter creep.

MayIDestroyYou · 09/05/2023 15:52

Brava, @tribpot! 👏🏾Even more heart soaring than the end of ‘Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story’! The thought of Gerri striding down the catwalk is truly life enhancing. Star

Netaporter · 09/05/2023 23:12

So… questions for me:

  1. I don’t think it can be Tom’s baby as Shiv refers to Tom having ‘robbed her of her last 6 months with her father ’ plus, the comment about ‘not wanting to have my baby’ Could it be Nate’s?
  2. Still think Tom will emerge as the villain.…
  3. Do we think the storyline about Ken’s daughter will turn into something as the election presumably goes a bit Trumpian?

loved Connor this week. Rejection of a country for being ‘a bit car-bomby’ 😂

burnoutbabe · 09/05/2023 23:49

If the pregnancy as written in later (and new scene filmed for the "phone call from doctor" we saw a few weeks ago) that explains why some bits feel odd.

It still works but does explain why she appears to be drinking and also having lots of sex without her husband spotting it.

Netaporter · 09/05/2023 23:59

Or is she having lots of sex with Tom hoping to pass the baby off as his?

fivetonap · 10/05/2023 09:05

slamfightbrightlight · 09/05/2023 11:13

Conor has a closer physical relationship with his father in death than he ever had when Logan was alive. He’s the only one who has seen him or spent time with him.

That's because he's so happy he's gone

On point 1- they hadn't decided Shiv was pregnant when they filmed that scene, so I don't think what she says has much significance to the specifics of the pregnancy.

hopeishere · 10/05/2023 09:32

When they were at Caroline's wedding did Shiv and Tom not talk about having frozen embryos?

Yes, I thought this. But did she get them implanted when she and Tom were still together, or after they separated?

EachandEveryone · 10/05/2023 12:01

I assumed they were nothing to do with Tom and it was something she did years before like rich people do.

If the doctor phone call scene was added at a later date then its odd the doctor referred to an upcoming 20 week scan. As this doesn't tie in with the missing last 6 months of Logans life row. The doctor

could have said next scan ir next appointment to keep the timeline vague.

ffauxlivia · 10/05/2023 13:08

The writer Lucy Prebble confirmed on the official podcast that it's Tom's baby. It seems to be widely accepted that this season is set 3-4 months since the wedding in Italy/end of S3, so I just assumed Shiv said '6 months' to exaggerate her point in the heat of the argument.

slamfightbrightlight · 10/05/2023 13:32

And they were “talking about freezing” or “might be freezing” if I remember rightly. Hadn’t actually done it.

tribpot · 10/05/2023 14:01

Yes, I've just looked at the script from the season 3 finale and memorably Tom says 'we might be freezing' to which Roman charmingly speculates that Shiv is waiting until Tom can carry the baby, and 'squeeze your Tommy tits for man-milk'.
