The trailer has just been released and I can’t wait!

It’s probably my favourite programme atm so it’s a shame it’s ending but I’d rather that than it getting repetitive and dragged out.

If Shiv is still pregnant, is it Tom's baby? She hasn't yet had the 20 week scan and she said that Tom's betrayal robbed her of the last 6 months of her dad's life.

MarshaBradyo · 08/05/2023 23:18

I like Tom and Shiv always annoys me

I hope he gets revenge too

slamfightbrightlight · 08/05/2023 23:35

I assume is it his because otherwise the line he threw at her about children doesn’t hit as hard.

JaneFondue · 08/05/2023 23:42

So Tom knows she's pregnant? He must do, with all that energetic sex.

Malbecmoron · 09/05/2023 00:22

Great episode. I find it all very anxiety provoking.

MayIDestroyYou · 09/05/2023 02:46

Should we be worried about Tom’s fatigue? Is it really just the rapprochement with Shiv - or is she going to need one of her black suits for his funeral before the end?

Greg coming up on the inside is … scary.

If Lukas and Ebba are bullshitting them, who’s going to be smart enough to work it out? Surely only Gerri?

“Fuck Marcia!” Yup - the funeral is going to win prizes for its sweet, calm uneventfulness …

tribpot · 09/05/2023 07:00

I did wonder about Tom's fatigue. Someone who's apparently been shagging as much as he has around Manhattan would have more stamina, you'd think.

Blondbombsite · 09/05/2023 07:18

I thought Tom’s tiredness was more of a depressive need to retreat. It’s only a week or so since he witnessed Logan’s death plus he’s had an international trip and possibly jet lagged from
Sweden , so much has happened I definitely wouldn’t be up to entertaining in his shoes!

Every episode I think a different person should win all the acting awards. They’ve all been amazing. The balcony scene this week was so raw and powerful.

As someone said above, there is no way Mattson needs Shiv's help! He's surely stringing her along? He said he wasn't any good at reading people?
Surely he's a master manipulator?!

I think it's pretty clear that Mattson is written as autistic so him wanting Shiv to help him navigate socially was no surprise.

I've no idea what's happening with the Ebba situation, whether it's contrived or not. It sounded like they'd tied her in for a certain length of time before she gets her pay out. It just seemed so easy the way she blabbed about India though

LadyMargaretDevereux · 09/05/2023 07:50

The balcony scene was hideous and so emotional, it was hard to watch but both actors on top of their game. Best line this week for me was Willa asking 'will we be able to live above ground?' almost as if she was preparing herself for living in a war bunker because with Conor nothing would surprise her.

MarshaBradyo · 09/05/2023 07:53

Connor had some great lines in his scene when they’re offering him countries

greennotepad · 09/05/2023 08:18

Having worked with lots of tech founders like Mattson in my line of work it completely tracks that he would need assistance socially. Not saying he's not playing the kids but it's also completely believable that he is just that bad at reading people!

The balcony scene was amazing but I also really enjoyed the scene with Connor and Roman discussing potential locations for him to go to- some really sharp funny writing there.

MayIDestroyYou · 09/05/2023 08:20

For me the best line was Gerri’s “I could have got you there.” to Roman.

I didn’t grasp its meaning at first - reviews helped me. So it seems that, all that time, in addition to any affection she may have felt for him, she was putting up with Roman’s … behaviour because she genuinely believed he could be The Successor. Either because of his natural wit or because he was amenable to her moulding. And now all that investment of time is gone.

greennotepad · 09/05/2023 08:24

The trailer for next week doesn't give too much away-

There's a red carpet interview with Jesse Armstrong during the promo for the season where when asked which episode is going to shock people most he says episode 8- assuming he's being sincere what do we think it is??

Can't remember which it was, but I laughed at 'poor man's Saudi; rich man's Yemen' Grin

I can't work out the Ebba/Lukas stuff either. She actually says, 'Yeah, like I'm going to tell you all the details' and then apparently does. Is it significant that the telling happens off-screen? And who does she tell? I can't remember; but are THEY lying when they tell the other siblings?

All the stuff about Lukas not being able to read people etc seems to have come out of the blue in the last couple of eps – since he's been flattering/conspiring with Shiv, basically. I do wonder if it's genuine or not. She is quite vulnerable at the moment and I think he's smart enough to recognise that.

EqualFranknessWithYourLadyship · 09/05/2023 08:55

Just checking in to say I had a difficult meeting with my boss and said “so you’re saying “Make your own Pile”?”

am now putting Succession quotes in for all my corporate bingo fun

Inflated numbers in India feel like a direct reference to Wirecard.
If GoJo is worthless, any merger is better than none for Matsson.
That golden jacket totally blinded me.

WhathaveIdoneagain · 09/05/2023 09:06

@greennotepad Thanks for that. Will Tom sell out Shiv again?

Ha 😬
The talk to my woman about Oman

and I’m not going if there aren’t nukes

And not the Slo countries

All really made me laugh

MarshaBradyo · 09/05/2023 09:08

I love the quips about major cities like NYC or previous episode the France conversation

Eviscerating but funny

LoganRoy · 09/05/2023 09:12

Yes I enjoyed the Connor bit! It reminded me of Veep where they offer an ambassador role to a congressman to get him to vote the way they want. He hopes for France but ends up with Azerbaijan.

Sisisimone · 09/05/2023 10:03

Yes Connor was so funny this week. Whilst Shiv and Roman in particular are really struggling with Logans death, Connor is really coming into his own. You can see how much lighter and happier he feels. I loved the comment about how reassuring Logans complete absence was.

AvonCallingBarksdale · 09/05/2023 11:05

I think the Lukkas stuff is totally believable. He’s very much an Elon Musk-esque character. New money, socially very awkward, hyper, v easily bored. He can’t mingle in a room of old money people who know how the “game” works. That’s way out of his comfort zone, so he sticks to vaping weed with his hangers on, being edgy. You wouldn’t want him as an enemy but sure as shit wouldn’t want to get close either.
Greg can’t offer Lukkas anything but can be an amusing plaything until he becomes boring.

slamfightbrightlight · 09/05/2023 11:13

Conor has a closer physical relationship with his father in death than he ever had when Logan was alive. He’s the only one who has seen him or spent time with him.
