The trailer has just been released and I can’t wait!

It’s probably my favourite programme atm so it’s a shame it’s ending but I’d rather that than it getting repetitive and dragged out.

And Tom looks scarily like a tall George Clark! 😂

EachandEveryone · 13/04/2023 22:16

I always thought it was Romans gf and her child or was that someone else?

tribpot · 14/04/2023 06:11

So people are speculating that they were originally intended to be married because she's listed in the credits as 'Grace Fox'. Either way I don't think the child was meant to be Roman's.

tribpot · 14/04/2023 06:13

Grace Roy! I think I went into a Murdoch - Fox News black hole there. Not that the Roys are the Murdochs OF COURSE.

Mydoghealsmyheart · 14/04/2023 11:36

How can I watch the pilot episode? I’ve only seen series 1, episode 1 but can’t recall Roman having wife/gf and child.

It’s the same episode 😊

Must admit I was never a Succession Megafan - just stuck with it as it seemed to be something I should enjoy. Initially, I felt it was just a load of effing and jeffing for the sake of it.

However, it has grown on me. Still not gripped - as I was in the old days by the likes of Dallas, Knots Landing, Flamingo Road et al, ( Yes I'm very old as you can tell 🤣) - but have to say this last episode was terrific. I'm still not convinced Logan is actually dead though.🤔

One thing that has always confused me is why on earth did Shiv marry Tom? The guy is an arse licking buffoon! She always seemed bored to tears with him and she was shagging behind his back right up to the wedding. (Although granted Tom did the same at his stag party.) As for his irritating little sidekick, Greg, he drives me nuts and I want to switch off every time I see him. Did Tom have something over Shiv that I missed as there is zero chemistry there? (Great acting from all involved though.)

I agree with PPS that Kieran Culkin deserves every accolade for his performances. He comes across as such a troubled soul and really felt for him when he was told to fire Geri.

I actually really hope this is all a set up and that Logan is still alive but probably my imagination running away with me.
Really looking forward to next week now.

tribpot · 14/04/2023 18:04

There is no possibility that Logan is alive, @JadeSeahorse . It's just not a Succession-y kind of thing to do. Shiv has announced it to the world's press, they've called the President of the United States. And the programme makers and Brian Cox have made clear, this guy is dead.

Why did Shiv marry Tom - I think she was trying to be as conventional as possible in order to appeal to her dad. Shiv is certainly bisexual but I suspect is actually gay, which she knows would be utterly unacceptable to Logan. I think she knew Tom would be easy to manipulate, could act as a plus one at all the right events without embarrassing her, basically an acceptable trophy husband. I guess at that level of wealth, almost anyone who wants to be with you is motivated by money (see also: Willa, Marcia, Kerry ... ) so at least Tom seemed to understand the assignment.

JadeSeahorse · 14/04/2023 18:34

Great explanation @Tribpot!

TBH, I didn't pay too close attention at the start so wasn't aware of Shiv's sexuality question. All this makes some sort of sense now although, due to my own lackadaisical viewing initially, I still struggle with some plotlines and being up to date with who is who.

Logan is sooo unlikeable but really didn't want him to die. Wishful thinking theories on my part. 😃

slamfightbrightlight · 14/04/2023 18:49

I don’t think Shiv is gay, she seemed as happy at the prospect of shagging Gil’s male aide as she was at the potential threesome with Tom on the boat. I didn’t get the sense that was because it was with a woman, but more because it was sexually adventurous where Tom clearly isn’t. She thought at that point he was buying in to her idea of what the marriage was going to be like, until it fell apart on the beach shortly after. But I do think she loved Tom in her own way - or certainly she gave a good impression of being distressed on the beach when it was clear the marriage was in trouble and again at the end of the first episode of this series when it was very firmly over. I wonder if he disappointed her when he proved himself to be more like Logan than she thought (at the end of series 3) by screwing the kids over - up until then although he was ambitious he seemed to have lacked the killer instinct).

I do realise none of these are real people btw, in case anyone is concerned 😁

tribpot · 14/04/2023 18:51

LOL @slamfightbrightlight literally the only positive thing about these people is that they are fictional.

JaneFondue · 14/04/2023 19:06

I was wondering if there was a single likable person in this show and came up with the waiter who died.

slamfightbrightlight · 14/04/2023 19:07

Thank God. Roman Roy is absolutely the kind of broken man I used to think I could save in my younger days 😂

slamfightbrightlight · 14/04/2023 19:08

I like Gerri, she’s got her shit together.

slamfightbrightlight · 14/04/2023 19:08

And Willa. She’s quietly very funny and more honest than most of them.

JaneFondue · 14/04/2023 19:09

I do like Geri. She is competent, classy and as ethical as one can be when working for Waystar Royco.

IJustHadToLookHavingReadTheBook · 14/04/2023 20:35

Love this show! Am totally obsessed and can't wait for the next episode.

Amidst all the turmoil of this weeks episode, I loved this from Con. A huge conspiracy by Big Literature.

IJustHadToLookHavingReadTheBook · 14/04/2023 20:37

FFS it didn't attach. Try again.

Yes I loved the Scrooge line! As ever with Connor it always seems possible he actually believes his own bullshit, it's such an amazing performance from Alan Ruck. (I'd still adore it if Matthew Broderick showed up in a small role for a Ferris Bueller reunion before the show ends).

This should go down in Succession history along with "Bigot spigot", " You can't make a Tomelette without breaking Gregs", and whatever lyrics Kendall spouted in his rap.

I am going to rewatch the whole series again once this season is over.

tribpot · 14/04/2023 20:54

i saw on YouTube yesterday another line I'd forgotten, where Tom says Logan once referred to him as 'the Cunt of Montecristo'. And Gerri and Karl/Frank (I can't tell them apart) try to persuade him this means Logan likes him.

The rap. I kind of feel that must have been as difficult to film in its own way as this week's, trying to get the balance right so it was still believable whilst being one of the most cringemaking moments in history.

slamfightbrightlight · 14/04/2023 21:09

Almost everything about Kendall makes me cringe, but that rap and the birthday party may be the absolute low points!

Blondbombsite · 14/04/2023 23:14

I loved L to the OG! It was perfect in that it was totally cringeworthy but not technically awful or anything. Kendall managed to both nail it and be completely horrendous all at once.

When he had his “team” read out Tweets about him. Ugh. God. Can feel my stomach twisting just thinking about it. Such a broken man 😆
