OOh,cannot wait
Would love it to be resolved in 2006,ifyswim.

ElizabethWakefield · 17/05/2010 12:01

Bit slow joining in, but marking my place for the final episode.

I spent last night reading the previous thread and also some theories elsewhere. One that doesn't seem to have been mentioned here is the Wizard of Oz theory.

Mainly due to the scarecrow, I think, but also how all the others have gained something to get their stars moment (courage, heart etc) and Friday's episode as Shaz, Chris and Ray all were walking along linking arms towards the stars, it was all a bit yellow brick road like. I have to say I think I would be gutted if it were that.

I'm also hoping to see Sam in Friday's episode, but DP keeps telling me there is no chance

GeorginaWorsley · 17/05/2010 12:35

Also, does ayone have a theory as to why Alex doesn't ask Jim about his acceptance of her references to the future,ie Jeffrey Dahmer,Braveheart, etc?
She seems to accept that he knows what she is talking about.

Anniek · 17/05/2010 12:58

Go on Facebook Ashes to Ashes page for huge spoiler picture...

Apparently it was in one of today's newspapers the Mirror but I don't buy it so only just seen it!!

Nymphadora · 17/05/2010 12:59

Wizard of Oz makes sense , not sure I like it though...

Greenshadow · 17/05/2010 13:12

I like the Wizard of Oz idea - so much of it would fit.

ElizabethWakefield · 17/05/2010 13:17

Just had a look at the mirror online, it mentions Alex wearing red shoes!!! Didn't see the spoiler picture, just a pic of Alex and Gene standing together?!

Thediaryofanobody · 17/05/2010 13:19

Just marking spraying my place.

Clydesdale · 17/05/2010 13:22

Making place....camped with tent, hot soup, drinkies etc for the finale.

OH commented the other day that maybe the scarecrow is the body.....how Dr Who is that?

Valpollicella · 17/05/2010 13:23

If you don't want to see a big spoiler, do NOT look at the Ashes to Ashes page on FB as it's just 'there' rather than a link to it!

MyNeighbourTotoro · 17/05/2010 13:24

Dorothy wore red shoes didnt she?

I thought wizard of oz a few weeks ago but DH disagreed.

Clydesdale · 17/05/2010 13:31

OMG OMG OMG I have just read the article inthe Mirror - see here for it! I will not post it on here as there is a HUUUUGE Galex spoiler on there

LuP · 17/05/2010 13:35

Right, that's IT! I cannot lurk any longer.

I have questions for the clever people who have got more out of it than just a story. So... here goes.

1 - Is Gene's name a complete coincidence or is there any significance that he keeps talking about the last chapter (we're assuming of the Bible) and that his name is Gene? Genesis?

2 - SURELY the choice of Spandau Ballet's 'True' just before they don't quite kiss is significant? All those references to the sound of my soul and truth?

Anyone? Anyone? Bueller?

Off for a cold shower, too much thinking about Gene Hunt's got me feeling a bit funny 'down there'. Just like the first time I saw Dirty Dancing at a sleepover when I was about 14

NoseyNooNoo · 17/05/2010 13:38

Just marking my place

jeanjeannie · 17/05/2010 13:39

Agh - never posted, always lurked and now my head is going to explode

Please NO, to a yellow brick road ending....visions of Andrew Lloyd Webber sat there on his throne, looking bored while it all goes BANG.

Bit worried about the 'sweet dreams' song running over the trailer for the final episode...please not just a dream either!

NoseyNooNoo · 17/05/2010 13:42

Was there a link with the Wizard of Oz in Life on Mars. I think Gene called Sam Dorothy and they played 'Over the Rainbow' in the last episode.
In A2A, there's a scarecrow coming up, Ray had his 'moment' after he'd proved he wasn't a scaredy lion.

And there's lots of red...

BexJ78 · 17/05/2010 13:43

if the endeing is either the Wizard of Oz, or a dream, i will be writing to the beeb to demand a refund of my licence fee!

NoseyNooNoo · 17/05/2010 13:47

How funny, someone had just pipped me to the post re: the Wizard of Oz

pixierara · 17/05/2010 13:47

OMG - The whole wizard of Oz thing makes sense....last episode Gene couldn't pull the curtain over for Vic....Is he the Wizard??

BettyTurnip · 17/05/2010 13:48

Another lurker coming out...would that make Gene the Wizard of Oz then? The synopsis on Sky for the last episode says something about the rest of the team [Alex already mentioned] learn the truth about Gene Hunt. He can't be the bloody Wizard?!

CaveMum · 17/05/2010 13:48

I think (or at least hope) that they are putting lots of false leads in to try and trick us.

ElizabethWakefield · 17/05/2010 13:48

trailer for Friday's episode

If you watch it and pause it about 14 seconds in, when Gene is on the floor, look at the shoes.

While I think the WOO theory makes sense, I can't really see how LOM or Sam fits into it all, based purely on Ashes it seems fine, but since Ray and Chris have been in it since the beginning too, it just doesn't fit for me.

BitOfFun · 17/05/2010 13:54

You haven't seen me, ok?

Can't wait- feeling a Wizard Of Oz vibe here too now. Too many red shoes...

VJay · 17/05/2010 14:01

Settling in

BettyTurnip · 17/05/2010 14:06

Oh I hope not. Would it mean that Shaz got her "brain" when Gene said she could join CID, Ray his "courage" in the fire and Chris his "heart" when he let the ANC bloke go. Is Keats the Wicked Witch and Gene the male Glenda, the Good Witch?

ElizabethW - I can't iamgine that they had Ashes to Ashes planned when writing Life On Mars so wouldn't have been concerned about how things would tie-in.
