There was a really good link above to an interview with one of the writers, which answers many of the questions on here.

HTH.

JackieNoMoreGeneGenie · 25/05/2010 19:00

LilianGish - Viv isn't the guy who was in Life on Mars - different one.

JackieNoMoreGeneGenie · 25/05/2010 19:05

Glenn Fletcher is the character from LoM, who goes on to be Sam's mentor in 2006.

abr1de · 25/05/2010 20:15

Nelson reminds me a bit of the ferryman. Chabon?

And Keats could be Hades, Persephone's husband.

Perhaps I've been watching too much Percy Jackson, though!

fartmeistergeneral · 25/05/2010 22:16

Remember in the final episode of LoM, when the surgeon guy appears in the alternate reality/limbo world to Sam? He tells Sam he was in a car crash (?) and that he has amnesia and his name isn't really Tyler etc etc. And that Gene is a baddie and that Sam has to turn him in etc. Was he a Keats, devilish type character then? Very similar storyline to the entire 3rd A2A series, but concentrated as I remember, in that one episode.

TheLadyOfTheGreenKirtle · 25/05/2010 22:20

oooo good point! v simillar characters/stories.

ReneRusso · 25/05/2010 22:21

Yes fartmeister I vaguely remember that. Sam was told that Gene Hunt represented a tumour in his brain and exposing him and his corrupt ways would beat the tumour. Or something like that.

fartmeistergeneral · 25/05/2010 22:23

Frank Morgan. He was definitely a bad guy, trying to turn Sam against Gene.

abr1de · 26/05/2010 12:59

Dear BBC. Please note that we licence-payers would like more intelligent(and funny) dramas like A2A, and fewer talent shows/sleb twaddle.

LordPanofthePeaks · 26/05/2010 18:14

odd thing was that outside the pub, Keats/Beelzebub wasn't wearing glasses when he was trying to 'tempt' Alex, and Geno socked him one. After she had slipped in to the saloon bar, Gene turns and Keats is now wearing glasses, as he goes on to taunt Gene. Odd. But great finish, that saved a bit of a week series? LOM was consistently excellent, IMVHO, whereas A2A went in and out like a poor radio reception.

LordPanofthePeaks · 26/05/2010 18:16

or weak even....

HonneyBollyKnickers · 27/05/2010 20:05

So, is the devil called Dave?

@38.20 and Keats is on the phone to "his department":
well, no worries dave, I think they'll be here for a while, so let's shuffle the paperwork through on it, yeah?

TheLadyOfTheGreenKirtle · 27/05/2010 21:19

possibly, was watching LoM earlier and realised that the test card girl could be a version of keats/devil too.

and did anyone else rewatch A2A s3e1 and see keats point at chris the "shoot" him?

Oblomov · 27/05/2010 22:19

Diddl said that PG was so young, you mean in LoM ? I don't like him young. He gets better and better looking with age. I like him now.
PG-Gene(partic when Bolly digging up body) & also Mays-Keats was fab acting too.
I loved the 9.06 thing where she grabbed Keats's watch and it wasn't working.
You guys are so incredibly clever with your observations and the suggestions.
I sat there at the end and was none-the-wiser.
AM so going to miss it.

MrsKitty · 27/05/2010 22:19

Have been avoiding this thread like the plague all week as we were out on Friday (theatre tkts bought months ago!) and have had guests staying from overseas since then too.

Just watched the final episode tonight and just want to say...

That. Was. Bloody. Brilliant.

Off to bed now, but looking forward to reading through this thread tomorrow

TheLadyOfTheGreenKirtle · 27/05/2010 22:28

oh god, totally agree, def gets sexier with age. dont fancy PG at all though!

diddl · 28/05/2010 09:31

Yes-LOM-am currently watching.

Never really watched it when it was on TV.

Am drooling at John Simm tbh blush]

pranma · 29/05/2010 21:25

Just watched recording of finale of A2A and think it was the best television I have seen for ages WOW!!

LongtimeinBrussels · 31/05/2010 10:04

diddl, where are you up to on LoM?

BoffinMum · 31/05/2010 10:16

We haven't considered the role of Luigi properly here. What do we think Luigi was there for?

abr1de · 31/05/2010 10:18

I think his wine bar gives them a taste of heaven--what it could ultimately be like if they make the right choices and get to go to the Eternal Pub.
