Mark your places ladies, for the final leg of the journey!

OP posts:
GeorginaWorsley · 21/05/2010 22:36

Yes ,Ray seems 1970's tio me.

KayHarkerInTheBackOfTheQuattro · 21/05/2010 22:36

Fabulous bittersweet ending. I know the kiss was a bit rubbish, but there was a real genuine connection between them which made it all the harder. Poor Gene all on his tod. If I did that sort of thing I might write something to rectify that particular sadness.

ElizabethWakefield · 21/05/2010 22:36

Wow!! Just caught up, I loved it!

I think it really tied everything together, poor Gene left all alone

Don't know what else to say....

spikemomma · 21/05/2010 22:36

Ray so had a 70's mentality! He didn't kill his dad, he said he'd bottled the army and on a job with the police he took out his frustration on a youth and killed him and his boss who was a bit like gene covered it up.

CaveMum · 21/05/2010 22:36

JamieJay, Ray disappointed his dad by not getting into the army. He killed a young lad who was "pissing up the side of a pub" and his DCI covered that up.

I'm guessing he killed himself coz he couldn't handle the guilt.

I heard the screams coming from the lift shaft too.

JamieJay · 21/05/2010 22:36

I thought Chris was earlier given the police whistle element - 60s maybe??

boredonasunday · 21/05/2010 22:36

No Alex wasn't dead but in a coma the first time round. She died when Gene called her back from her hospital bed at the beginning of series 3. I guess the time must have been 9.06 then - needs to be checked...so she has been dead for the whole of 3 and has now gone off to the pub ('heaven') with the others. Probably why no mention of Molly in this series.
Sam was in a coma the first time and then when he jumped off the building he killed himself and then was able to go to the pub as well...

Pixel · 21/05/2010 22:37

Can't believe I nearly didn't watch this series because I found Alex so irritating in the last one. Thank goodness the lure of Gene Hunt proved too strong

(and Alex wasn't annoying this time anyway. Well not much)

BexJ78 · 21/05/2010 22:37

Did you notice as well that when alex found the body, Gene sort of shrank in his clothes, a bit like they were too big for him. Or perhaps i imagined that!!

JamieJay · 21/05/2010 22:38

Thanks for clarifying the Ray bit, couldn't make out if said dad or not!

GeorginaWorsley · 21/05/2010 22:38

Yes,Chris perhaps 60's,not sure when whistles were phased out...

GeorginaWorsley · 21/05/2010 22:38

Bex,I saw that about Gene too.

Nymphisseeingstars · 21/05/2010 22:40

snap Bored!

Chris uniform more modern than 60s.

Where are all the police experts?

SlartyBartFast · 21/05/2010 22:40

keats killed can't remember who, but 2 people, in the last 2 episodes.

SlartyBartFast · 21/05/2010 22:40

so were they all really dead?

CaveMum · 21/05/2010 22:41

Chris' uniform looked too modern to be 60s.

EightiesChick · 21/05/2010 22:41

I am taking it that in series 1 and 2, Alex was there because she was in a coma and (like Sam) close enough to death to be in the transitional world. It's only in series 3 that she's actually been dead - that's when all the references to 9.06 came in, when the red imagery became noticeable, and when she stopped getting any messages from Molly. But it does mean she has to go forward, not back to Molly

I have so enjoyed this overall. Do feel that in series 2 the story arc, and the Alex/Gene romantic chemistry, was let drop to make way for all the stuff about 'corruption in the force' which was ultimately not as good. But they have really pulled it back with this series. I am not disappointed

What about Luigi? We didn't get to see him again after the news that his cousin had died, left him some money and he could go home. Is he also now in the Railway Arms, do we think? Even though not a copper?

BitOfFunInTheQuattro · 21/05/2010 22:41

I saw Keats' face change a couple of times- not quite sure when the first time was though, and I can't rewind as I haven't got Sky. I think it was when he was going nuts in the office. And the lift screams were spooky!

GeorginaWorsley · 21/05/2010 22:41

Yes.

ValBollycella · 21/05/2010 22:42

Yes Bex!

he seems to be, well, less of the Guv

Like he'd gone back to being the skinny young copper he was (like he mentioned)

Might have been mentioned above but anyone notice how they had Young Gene on the floor for a frame or two when Keats threw him into the room?

ElizabethWakefield · 21/05/2010 22:42

I think Chris was around 60's due to the police whistle.

What was Ray watching on TV was that something significant couldn't quite make it out, although I would say it looked about 70's.

spikemomma · 21/05/2010 22:43

Just remembered a few episodes ago, what do you think Gene whispered to the guy that was dying on the floor? I can't actually remember who was on the floor, but do you remember? I was itching to know cos it freaked the guy out.

GeorginaWorsley · 21/05/2010 22:43

Yes,some Royal 1970's thing...
Silver Jubilee,Princess Anne's wedding.....

jeanjeannie · 21/05/2010 22:43

Viv and that undercover cop girl died at the hand of Keats - so i'm assuming they went down the scary lift shaft!

I noticed that about Gene too as Alex uncovered the grave - he look shrunken, young and, well, dead!

BitOfFunInTheQuattro · 21/05/2010 22:44

He was watching the Changing Of The Guard, I think.
