Brilliant.

And - Dixon - absolutely brilliant. Well, evening all...

Nymphisseeingstars · 21/05/2010 22:10

Sam wasnt dead the first time. So couldnt move on

OneTwoBollyMyQuattro · 21/05/2010 22:10

Ariesgirl, yep pretty much!

Anniek · 21/05/2010 22:10

Anyone explain to me why Alex couldn't just stay with Gene?

There was no going back to Molly, so why not stay?

Or was it Gene making sure Keats didn't get her?

Excellent episode, didn't see Alex being dead coming at all!

RooBear · 21/05/2010 22:10

wonderful, Daniel Mayes was excellent and very scary, glad gene has another sidekick. pity he couldn't stay with Alex they really loved each other

BexJ78 · 21/05/2010 22:10

That was so good, i just am so sad it's over but so pleased that it was such a fab ending.

SolidGoldBrass · 21/05/2010 22:11

Daniel Mays was brilliantly scary - I was sort of expecting him to morph into some ropey devilface but actually the flares of red light round the eyes were much more effective.

Actually it doesn;t make that much sense but still, it was addictive watching.

JackieNoMoreGeneGenie · 21/05/2010 22:12

Yes, agree fantastic acting from Daniel Mays - he was genuinely scary.

SparkyMalarky · 21/05/2010 22:12

God - have been lurking for weeks, but just had to say LOVED IT!!!!! I'd had my suspicions that Keats was the devil and Gene was the young bobby but my goodness it was so fantastic tonight.

What am I going to do on Fridays now?!!

CHOCOLATEPEANUT · 21/05/2010 22:13

I bloody loved that!! Did not see it coming but knew Keats was bad (though not that bad!!)

spikemomma · 21/05/2010 22:13

Bizarrely Gene has a strange 'appeal' which kept growing, but then the kiss - i did not want to see. Strange. Anyway, i digresss,

Good point Clickerty click, if he didn't know he was dead, then how could he know and help the others?

OneTwoBollyMyQuattro · 21/05/2010 22:14

So what was Annie's reason for being there? Anyone pick up anything from LOM?

BelleDameSansMerci · 21/05/2010 22:14

Really sad it's all over...

Wonder if Gene forgets each time - so that it's real for the person coming in. If that makes sense? Still doesn't really explain why Chris and Ray were still around when Sam went.

Not going to spoil it by over analysis though. Very teary at the end.

diddl · 21/05/2010 22:14

Well if they have all been dead all the time-surely Sam was?

jeanjeannie · 21/05/2010 22:15

I think he did know he was dead but he was so focused on what he was doing that he didn't want anyone to uncover it. Once the others knew he was dead then he couldn't run Fenchurch. He'd have no weapon against Keats

CaveMum · 21/05/2010 22:16

I'm guessing the reason Gene didn't say who Keats was (be it the Devil or an agent of the Devil) is that the coppers all have to come to their own conclusion about where they want to go.

Anyone else think perhaps Nelson was God?

JackieNoMoreGeneGenie · 21/05/2010 22:16

Just realised - the clue was in the title all the time (ashes to ashes - funeral service).

JackieNoMoreGeneGenie · 21/05/2010 22:17

I thought nelson was st peter - gatekeeper.

jeanjeannie · 21/05/2010 22:17

I'd be very happy if Neslon was God

misdee · 21/05/2010 22:17

so when sam jumped off the building on LOM he was actually dead that time?

same for alex at the end of series 2?

before that they were trapped as were neither dead or alive, so didnt need to find the pub.

the other forgot they were dead or just duidnt know?

abr1de · 21/05/2010 22:17

Nelson is St Peter or perhaps St Michael: guarding the Pearly Gates.

For a bunch of sceptical atheists a lot of MNers are whole-heartedly embracing Catholic explanations of death.

Poshwellies · 21/05/2010 22:17

We are mourning here .

Bloody fab programme/series.

RooBear · 21/05/2010 22:18

I was thinking Nelson was more like a saint who was at the gates?
