I thought it would be high time to get the TARDIS party going, now we're on a countdown. Has anyone else seen the clip from the first episode yet? Looking like good fun. I might even be persuaded to squee.

DD1 tried the game but couldn't even get the taxi to break down the barrier, and I was no help at all

I'm wanting to like this series of Dr Who but so far it's just not doing it for me at all - I had such high expectations of it as all my previous favourite episodes have been the Stephen Moffat ones, but imo, most of the writing in this series has been crap.

Idontknowhowtohelpher · 12/06/2010 21:43

oh dear, nobody's even interested enough to comment any more! I liked this one, a bit cringeworthy at times but quite funny. Loved the football!

huffythethreadslayer · 12/06/2010 22:09

I'll comment. I really enjoyed this one.

I'm liking the football, the understated James Cordon and the little bit of Amy. What a surprise the crack was there though! Thought that was over-egging the pudding a bit....

thegirlwiththemouseyhair · 12/06/2010 22:55

LOVED the football.
Remember reading something, I think, about MS having played junior football and might have been a professional...maybe I read that.
But great fun anyway

Pixel · 12/06/2010 23:50

Arghh the football has even infiltrated Doctor Who . Is there no escape??

Actually I quite enjoyed that bit, with Matt Smith's skinny white legs and the eleven on his shirt.

However the headbutting? So not a good idea!

Katymac · 12/06/2010 23:52

I was worried about the head butting too

DW stuff gets repeated by very young children so quickly & that is not a good one to add

Idontknowhowtohelpher · 13/06/2010 00:17

That's true about the headbutting, dd2 has already tried it on me.

singsinthebath · 13/06/2010 00:22

Quite a good episode but why was the Dr behaving like an prat? He's never gone round air-kissing blokes before. And surely he knows what footie is - he's alway connected with the human race....

And as for James Corden's laydee asking him why he hadn't mentioned that he had a hunky flatmate - er, no.

SaintIncognita · 13/06/2010 10:25

I wasn't expecting to enjoy it, but I rather did. Loved the sweet little romance bit and the football. Found the 'help me' stuff for 'upstairs' very creepy.

Massively long next time trailer, I thought

Davros · 13/06/2010 11:17

Quite enjoyed it. I think Matt Smith was signed to a football club when he was younger, mid/late teens (can't remember which) and was going to be a professional but got injured.
I don't understand why the Doctor has NO understanding of human/earth habits and customs?!
What I really hate is the "shut up" in the middle of sentences. Amy is the worst offender but the Doctor has done it too.
I enjoyed last night's although i prefer outer space. We watched the Space Whale one again this morning, that was a good one.

lucysnowe · 13/06/2010 11:27

What was up with the really freaky looking picture in the hall? It was v. prominent at one point. I thought it would be explained, but no...

Davros · 13/06/2010 13:42

I thought the same about that picture too. I always thought they never leave anything like that to chance so, it was soooo weird, there must be a reason?

I wondered about that picture too. And what about the programme from the Van Gogh exhibition on the fridge, and the exhibition was in Paris, but James C said he'd never been to Paris .

I think the last 2 episodes are a 2-parter, for the finale.

Davros · 13/06/2010 19:58

I spotted the Van Gogh programme on the fridge and thought it was just a cheeky reference. But maybe it means more? Also, Amy has to go back in time and put that card in the sweet shop window (I think).......

mummyofexcitedprincesses · 13/06/2010 20:25

I liked it this week, mainly because Amy was hardly in it.

Do we know if we are going to have to put up with her for another series? I really hope not.

AmyPond · 13/06/2010 20:49

shower. well worth the licence fee for that alone.

AmyPond · 13/06/2010 20:51

oi! I've signed for series six I'll have you know

And the mad shower hair, brilliant

sharbiebowtiesarecool · 14/06/2010 08:16

Ahhhh loved this weeks one - he is great

nymphadora · 14/06/2010 09:27

Much better this week, maybe it was because no Amy. I can't even watch her on confidential now as she is driving me mad.James Corden wasn't too much himself either.

Next two look interesting >

StayingDavidTennantsGirl · 14/06/2010 09:50

Did you notice, though Ripeberry, how the mad shower hair tidied itself up whilst the Doctor was talking to the girlfriend (sorry - can't remember her name)?

And the airkissing thing annoyed me too - the Doctor has been to present-day Earth many many times before - he knows you don't go round airkissing all and sundry. That was just ridiculous!!

The 'Can you help me' reminded me of 'Are you my mummy?' - very creepy.

And is it just me, or did the house look really ridiculous once the spaceship/time machine vanished and the Chamaeleon effect stopped? It looked like a two-story house with the top storey lopped off - when surely it should have looked like a house that was meant to have only one storey.

nymphadora · 14/06/2010 10:29

I thought that about the house. Seems to be a theme this series, start of well but the solutions seem to spoil them.
