I thought it would be high time to get the TARDIS party going, now we're on a countdown. Has anyone else seen the clip from the first episode yet? Looking like good fun. I might even be persuaded to squee.

Haven't seen Confidential and wasn't going to bother, but I will now.

JaneS · 23/05/2010 17:55

Me too about the Confidential, thanks for the recommendation.

I enjoyed this episode. I liked that there was a nice, nuanced storyline that just went along at its own pace - a good mid-season episode. And I love Meera Syal and her work partner's gruff 'Like you didn't know'. Brilliant.

Not so keen on Amy's legs. She'd look stunning if she wore hemlines 2/3 inches longer, as it is she looks slightly too reminiscent of a girl from a sheltered Convent school in her first term of university trying too hard.

Peace8lossom · 23/05/2010 22:23

Yes, thoroughly enjoyed Confidential, esp. the use, in its entirety, of the venerable Cribbins' Hole in the Ground.

ProfessorLaytonIsMyLoveSlave · 23/05/2010 22:55

Oh yes. Tried to explain vital importance of that to DS but he looked like this --->

essenceofSES · 26/05/2010 21:05

Only just caught up on last Saturdays episode
Wish I'd Sky+ed confidential now as well!

What I like was that this was a different storyline for a change, instead of the usual predictable stuff / reuse of aliens we've seen before.
I'm a bit confused as to what purpose the future Amy and Rory had (unless this comes out later)

SaintIncognita · 29/05/2010 18:32

Kay here again, changed my name again just marking my place for tonight - it's on quite late tonight, but I'm not complaining, at least the fecking eurovision isn't shunting it out of the schedule.

SleepyDopeyGrumpy · 29/05/2010 19:46

NOOOOO!!!

differentID · 29/05/2010 19:48

Poor rory.

Katymac · 29/05/2010 19:49

Still don't get the people on the hill opposite

MilkNoSugarPlease · 29/05/2010 20:00

I think it was to show that he'd been in the light and now he never existed

so at the start they were both there

at the end only she was as he'd gone

Katymac · 29/05/2010 20:03

But why/how where they there?

NanBullen · 29/05/2010 20:16

well, just watched that on sky plus and fast forwarded most of it, very boring reckon they got rid of rory because he was a bit of a spare part wasn't he? a wet weekend.

and massive overacting when amy was having her melt down in the tardis.

SaintIncognita · 29/05/2010 20:36

Felt very old fashioned as an episode, and yes, it was a little slow at times, but I was gutted for Rory, even though I'd heard the rumours, he was growing on me.

CalmCalmCalm · 29/05/2010 23:31

Was Amy extra annoying tonight, or am I only just now seeing what others spotted earlier?

The one-tone "kooky" thing is starting to grate. I really want to keep liking her.

Pixel · 29/05/2010 23:37

Yes, even more irritating than usual. About half way through I was saying " FGS just talk normally for two minutes!".

I liked Rory.

JackieNoMoreGeneGenie · 30/05/2010 13:30

So how come, if Rory had now never existed, the red box with Amy's engagement ring was still on the floor of the Tardis? Maybe Rory will be back?

Arcadie · 30/05/2010 13:56

I reckon they'll bring him back at the end of the series when the doctor works out what it was about their wedding day that caused the "Crack in the fabric of the universe" (CITFOTU?? )

They've already worked out that you can rewrite time and therefore can probably change it for the better.

Urrrm. and besides the producers and writers seem to like Arthur Darvill too much to just write him out on Ep9/10.

And yes. Amy SUPER annoying.

MrsSaxon · 30/05/2010 14:01

I really really want to like this series, but it just isn't working for me.

I am such a huge DW fan, Saturdays are all about DW.

It just seems more like the Sarah Jane adventures now.

persephonesnape · 30/05/2010 17:21

oh Rory will be back... ( i DID leap up and yell 'Noooooooooooooooooo!!!' much to the amusement of everyone else watching. )

Meera Syal - not an actor really. Amy - super annoying - 'I'm not that clingy' (again..)hmmm. not one of my favourite episodes.

Idontknowhowtohelpher · 30/05/2010 18:36

I asked dd2 (8) what she thought as this is the first episode this series that she hasn't asked to watch again on Sunday morning. She said that she didn't like the mum killing the alien, even by accident (try explaining "oh, she was only trying to torture her........").And she was very sad about Rory.
I think that it was quite an adult storyline for a family programme.

EdgarAllenPoll · 30/05/2010 21:56

what was weird was, in the Angels episode, Amy remembered the soldiers that went into the CITFOTU - but in this episode she forgot Rory? why?

also, i liked the bunch of characters..though..i thought it should have taken longer for the Silurian to taunt the woman into killing her - much too fast - these writers seem to want instant gratification! (and surely a taser shouldn't kill someone anyway?)

Amy was just dead weight in this plotline, although i couldn't help but feel that it benefitted a bit from that...

re: skirt length - deffo for the Dads. though DH swears he'd prefer Rose, as less blardy annoying.

YouDontRememberMeDoYou · 30/05/2010 22:58

"what was weird was, in the Angels episode, Amy remembered the soldiers that went into the CITFOTU - but in this episode she forgot Rory? why? "

Exactly what i said to DH and anyone else half listening Edgar...

EdgarAllenPoll · 30/05/2010 23:12

i really didn't buy the explanation given that that was because she saw the soldiers as a time traveller (outside her timeline) - it's a CITFO all Space-time FFS...

noeyedear · 31/05/2010 09:25

She wasn't in her own timeline this time either- it was 2020. I didn't get that explaination either- but it was very sad when she forgot
The saw themselves on the hillside because their 2010 selves had gone back in 2020 to the place they knew they would be. In a 'Time Travellers wife' type way.

SleepyDopeyGrumpy · 31/05/2010 19:07

I have a theory!

SPOILERS

So the Doctor found a piece of the tardis in the crack right?
I think, that is what has actually caused the crack...The Tardis exploding generated a rift so great that it sucks in time and energy and obviously people!
