I thought it would be high time to get the TARDIS party going, now we're on a countdown. Has anyone else seen the clip from the first episode yet? Looking like good fun. I might even be persuaded to squee.

There is the thought that DC could be an auton, he looks quite plastic...

EdgarAllenPoll · 12/05/2010 19:49

well -

fish aren't like people - so 6 girls could be more than adequate for 10k boys.

i thought it was un. I liked it - good pacey plot (if a bit thin in places) less of the treating-the-audience-like-idiots-slow-sequences..

i would have welcomed a bit more exploration of -
why people wanted their girls to enter the schol (when they were walking about being weird?)
why she commits suicide instead of carrying on...?

  • i agree about the blatancy of the cracks plot. more subtlety please!

amy was less annoying in this episode. MS - is adoctor., not overly impresed, not unipressed. agree the library card was a nice touch..

and yeah - why weren't the angels just mucking with time instead of killing people.?

Nymphadora · 13/05/2010 08:18

I think there is something in the cracks being so obvious. And the fact the Dr 'ignores' obvious clues like the silence.

ProfessorLaytonIsMyLoveSlave · 15/05/2010 19:17

I liked that. I was full of myself with "There's no way Rory could qualify as a doctor in five years; OBVIOUSLY that's the dream" and missed the double-dream aspect. And it was nice to see Amy realise how she feels about Rory. Awwww...

KayHarker · 15/05/2010 19:30

Not sure what I thought about that. Possibly my head is too full of Ashes to Ashes to really get into Who properly, but it all felt a bit flat.

I think it might be one of those that's better on a second viewing.I didn't like the too-quirky style at the beginning, but I think it settled down later. I thought at first it was a bit too much like Q in Star Trek TNG, so I liked the explanation at the end.

essenceofSES · 15/05/2010 21:08

I quite liked it.
Didn't see the twists at the end coming and I'm enjoying having Rory as a co-companion too.

taffetacat · 15/05/2010 21:10

I liked it, but am a sucker for the mess with your mind genre. Was momentarily disappointed at the dodgy pretty pollen explanation until they showed the Dream guy in the console reflection. Any guesses who he is? DS (6) thinks he's the Master.

I like to think the last week has been a dream and I'll wake up soon and DC/NC won't be running the country.

Im Sad
I missed it earlier and BBC player is all weird and not playing it now what!?

taffetacat · 15/05/2010 21:36

maybe iplayer doesn't have it because it was a dream

SleepyDopeyGrumpy · 15/05/2010 21:38

Lol yes maybe that's it! I knew there was a twist ending!

ShadeofViolet · 15/05/2010 21:40

Loved the fact that the dream man was the Doctor's insecurities personified.

Loved the Dream man - some really witty bits from him, and loved the scary old people

taffetacat · 15/05/2010 21:43

Oh sleepy - I don't think I've ruined the ending for you, as its ambiguous

ThatVikRinA22 · 15/05/2010 21:44

i am soooo enjoying this series - clever well thought out plots, not always set in london...im loving it!

i thought id never get over DT....i sooo am!

SleepyDopeyGrumpy · 15/05/2010 21:50

Can someone please try and play it on IPlayer and tell me if it works for them ok? Im getting antsy now!

taffetacat · 15/05/2010 21:50

I agree, Vicar. It feels fresh and I love some of the writers they are using this series.

It seemed the whole Bad Wolf thing went on forever. I am hoping the whole crack/silence thang won't go on similarly ad nauseam.

I'm warming to Matt. I even felt a minor frisson when he squared up close to fishlady last week.

taffetacat · 15/05/2010 21:53

iplayer DW working here

( turns sound down low. DS despite sleeping can pick up DW at frighteningly low decibel )

ShadeofViolet · 15/05/2010 21:54

Iplayer is going funny for me too - keeps rebuffing every few seconds.

SleepyDopeyGrumpy · 15/05/2010 22:03

Hmm, Dont think its my comp then. Should i email them or something i dont know what to do i want my Dr Who!!!!!!

RustyBear · 15/05/2010 22:08

I think it's because they've only got the HD version up at the moment - if you search for Doctor Who the results page shows all the other episodes with 'Also in HD', but this one only says 'BBC HD' It suggests you try downloading it if you have problems.

SleepyDopeyGrumpy · 15/05/2010 22:09

Aha! All seems fine now whatever was wrong they seem to have sorted Am off to watch!

Ripeberry · 15/05/2010 23:28

Where do you think it was filmed? There was some snow lying up on the hills at the begining. Somewhere in the valleys?

Nymphadora · 16/05/2010 07:01

It said on confidential where it was filmed but no where I knew so didn't take it in it's near the start if you check it on iplayer.

JackieNo · 16/05/2010 08:55

I quite liked it, I think. No sign of any cracks though, or did I miss something?
