I thought it would be high time to get the TARDIS party going, now we're on a countdown. Has anyone else seen the clip from the first episode yet? Looking like good fun. I might even be persuaded to squee.

Well, I'd snog him, and I say that as someone who vowed she would never simper over this incarnation of him. Still not simpering, but yup, a snog would work out just fine.

Amy is a bit annoying though, it has to be said. Cracking two parter though.

The whole wide eyed/pout thing is really annoying I find. I do think she was brilliant in the rest of the epidsode until she went back to her house.

Great episodes, have restored my faith after that terrible Dalek episode.

CoinOperatedGirl · 01/05/2010 22:53

Well I have to say I have tried my hardest to like the new show, but sadly I'm failing. I'm not even a DT fangirl, I didn't fancy him in the slightest and he annoyed me quite a bit sometimes. Something in the new show is just not gelling for me, I like MS but he just doesn't seem like the Dr, and as for Amy, by gods she is annoying, she is not believable at all.

I quite liked the eleventh hour, although the plot was weak. I didn't really like the beast below, thought the whole crying child/whale thing was ridiculous and less said about the dalek episode the better. I was slightly cheered by last weeks episode, but the second part seemed rushed again.

I do like river song, but this whole time eating crack thing is just pathetic. It's over complicated and characterisation just seems to be so off in this new series.

I feel like I'm going mad, every other Dr Who fan seems to love it, but then again I hated girl in the fireplace and the library episodes (well not hated but found a bit dull). I did like the empty child/dr dances.

Maybe it's something about Moffat's vision of Dr Who I dislike, I may be a bit biased as I loved RTD forever after Queer as Folk.

Sorry for the essay, but thought I would have a rant somewhere I won't be torn apart by rabid Dr Who fans .

Nymphadora · 02/05/2010 08:57

I like Moffat because he uses such simple things to scare the viewer. Amy keeping her eyes shut whilst going past the angels when you should never close your eyes ...

Didn't like seeing them move - it dissolved the scariness for me.

Agree the plotline is too complicated too soon. A few more 'one off' adventures would be better.

prettybird · 02/05/2010 16:07

No dh hadn't read the Radio Times.

Alternate theory is that River Sng is Donna - which could explain why she didn't recognise her in the libarary (memory wiped) but also why she could read/write Gallifrean.

Doesn't explain why she was in prison though

persephonesnape · 02/05/2010 16:56

oh cringe at clumsy seduction attempts and at how familiar the rejection feels!

fab episode. fab. Octavian's death - ' i feel you've known me at my best sir'

'you. me. handcuffs - must it always end like this?' lovely sparky script last night.

i love matt smith - he's just better and better. Amy was fab counting down. but the 'doctor?!' 'DOCTOR!' 'doctor?' ing is doing my head in - she yells 'doctor' too much...it's irritating.

kickassmama · 02/05/2010 18:08

I think i read somewhere that amy is behaving oddly which is why she kissed the doc,i think its something to do the crack in the wall.I think the doc's worked it out though!

PortBlacksandDweller · 02/05/2010 19:15

I'm guessing someone somewhere doesn't want her to get married so set it all up...

Hermya321 · 02/05/2010 22:23

Amy is getting a tad annoying as well. She's just so simpery, when it first started I thought they were going to have Amy as a Copper or something. Why couldn't they have gone down that route?

PrincessBoo · 03/05/2010 09:11

I like Amy. She's feisty and impulsive. Bit like I was once. sigh.

ProfessorLaytonIsMyLoveSlave · 03/05/2010 09:57

I like Amy too. I'm a bit surprised by all the haters.

KayHarker · 03/05/2010 14:02

Well I don't dislke her so much as find her over confidence a wee bit gratng at times.

I'm just finding it really hard to get to grips with MS in the Dr role. I thought the two-parter was a good story but MS just lacks some of the emotion that DT and CE put into it. My DH thinks I'm just being picky as MS is a less experienced actor, but I just don't find myself looking forward to Dr Who like I used to.

NorkilyChallenged · 03/05/2010 17:41

Have you all seen the theory at the end of this thread?

That links to my post but look just before that for the full information (couldn't figure out how to make it link elsewhere in thread).

Verrrrry interesting (I love all the speculation!)

KayHarker · 03/05/2010 19:08

well there is the sound of th e TARDIS when young Amy is sitting on her suitcase

OP posts:
NorkilyChallenged · 03/05/2010 19:14

Yes exactly Kay!

I do think there's something in it, with the Dr coming back to Amy when she's got her eyes shut and saying she needs to remember "what he told her when she was 7"... that was never explained/resolved in the episode.

persephonesnape · 03/05/2010 19:24

i read a brilliant theory that River kills 10.5 - for a good reason obviously...but that would necessitate Tennant coming back and surely no-one wants that! ;)

KayHarker · 03/05/2010 19:25

Not if it means killing him I don't, I'm still writing fanfic I don't want jossed.

persephonesnape · 03/05/2010 20:24

he would have led a full life with rose in parallel universe, be a very old man and have to die to stop the universe folding in on itself.

I don't think River kills 10.5, I thought it seemed like she killed the Doctor at the end of his life. There was a bit of a look that she gave him at the end of the episode that made me think 'huh'.

Nymphadora · 04/05/2010 12:55

But time can be rewritten (as the Dr keeps aying)

noeyedear · 04/05/2010 13:40

I think River is Amy's mother and she's put her through the crack to a parralel universe to keep her safe while she's in prison. I think the mystery will be who her father is/ who River has killed- are they the same person? is it the Doctor?
