I thought it would be high time to get the TARDIS party going, now we're on a countdown. Has anyone else seen the clip from the first episode yet? Looking like good fun. I might even be persuaded to squee.

The "pretty village" was LLandaff village ( north Cardiff ) it's a old area of Cardiff.. with a cathedral...

Apologies if said before, haven't read whole thread, so my thoughts:

Liked the food bit as it was like Tigger (DD1 and I were sniggering about haycorns and thistles much to DH's bemusement), didn't like the actual spitting, unnecessary

thought at times the script was too DT - don't think the other doctors talked like their previous incarnations, am assuming that's what he's doing at the mo and will be more "himself" soon

sneaky marketing ploy to make his new sonic screwdriver green so parents end up being pestered for new ones!!! (Already had a marketing e-mail from Toys R Us selling new green screwdrivers for £15!)

Trailer for rest looks fab - did I see those spooky angels again? Can't wait.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 04/04/2010 18:09

We just watched Logopolis. took me back to the gutted feelings I had about the demise of the TB Doctor.
regenerations were certainly different back then!

Clarissimo · 04/04/2010 18:09

PMSL thought it looked familiar
About 30 minutes away, then

Llandaff is beautiful though, very (although as I live in caerleon I am not complaining at all)

Clarissimo · 04/04/2010 18:13

BalsamicJAm- exactly! its (as ds4 calls him) i-pig. With a new , fancy, avaialble now green screwdriver.

AM wondering if DH ahs any green led's in his kit, save me buying any new ones....

Tee2072 · 04/04/2010 18:48

I haven't read the thread...

Still think he's too young.

Thought the episode was very very predictable.

Also, he couldn't make it back in 5 minutes and came back 2 years later yet she trusts him to get her back the next morning???

It was okay. I have hopes for the series.

confuddledDOTcom · 04/04/2010 19:00

lol Tee I thought the same thing!

fuzzywuzzy · 04/04/2010 19:03

I thought the whole reason she went with the doctor was because she wasn't particularly fussed about returning the next morning!!!

MrsRigby · 04/04/2010 20:25

Absolutely hated it. Won't be watching it again.

Matt whatever his name is, is rubbish.

Hmm yeah I have to say I noticed that every now and then he sounded like DT. Good God how I miss him.

Don't know though. Are we just afraid of change? DT was incredible but give the poor boy a chance! I don't envy ANY actor who has to follow DT's performance.

Let's just wait and see...

I didn't really notice the theme music when I watched it yesterday as I was too busy sulking about it not being DT. Watched confidential today and had a listen and I don't like it at all. It's missing that quality that usually makes me go goose-bumpy whenever I hear it.

mollybob · 04/04/2010 22:22

the xmas one with DT he was very CB at times and said "fantastic" a lot so I think MS having DT moments was deliberate

I watched it today on the sky+ with dts (I work on Saturday evening.)

We really enjoyed it, a fair old romp and a lot less I'm God than the DT years. Matt Smith does look a little weird but he fit in perfectly I thought.

And to top it all when it finished dts1 turned to me and said "I like this one better." And he is the biggest fan out of all of us. Can't say better than that.

nobiggy · 05/04/2010 03:08

So the stuff she has to get back for is marrying Rory. I'm betting. Has anybody said this already?

mollybob · 05/04/2010 04:59

Poor Rory

SleepingLion · 05/04/2010 07:26

Well, DH and I recorded and watched it last night and I have to say that after my despair when I heard DT was leaving, followed by even greater despair when I saw his replacement, I was really pleasantly surprised how much I enjoyed it. I liked the comedy of it as well as the hints at the darker side to the Dr ('Run') and thought the writing was excellent. The new companion is a bit 'Meh' at the moment - she will have to grow on me, but I thought her acting was a little on the patchy side in places.

Some bits were very same old same old - clueless boyfriend hanging around in a state of shock, seemingly sweet old people who don't seem at all phased by the Dr (loved that old lady and her comments about Amy's jobs!), ooh will she get married or abandon old life for travels with Dr....

MS not remotely fanciable although he wasn't doing badly until the bow tie and too-short trousers appeared at the end - I liked ragged Dr a lot better! But great actor and great casting for the Dr, I thought.

SleepingLion · 05/04/2010 07:29

Thinking about it, I actually preferred the acting chemistry between the little girl and MS than I did between him and Amy. The little girl was great!
