what did you all think of last nights episode?

anonacfr · 05/03/2010 16:46

TOM and ELLEN? WTH is that all about??????

I love the way Patty sent her ex packing. One second she's all drunk and flirty and the next she just kicks him right in the balls.... Tee hee.

I am rather curious at to who the 'architect' she meets in the first episode is.

I'm loving this series so far.

carocaro · 05/03/2010 17:47

I have just become hooked, just watched the first series on DVD, and am half way through the 2nd.

It's just JAW DROPPINGLY fab.

When PAtti threw that dog collar into the sea at the end of the first episode I sat bolt upright in bed with the hairs on the back of my neck standing up!

satc2bringiton · 07/03/2010 14:23

I'm all caught up now and so far so good.

They are gonna keep us guessing right till the end about what went on with Ellen & Tom though arn't they!

I quite like the fraud family, esp the mum.

Blondeshavemorefun · 07/03/2010 18:37

they like to keep us on our toes

sure the scriptwriters go frey by the end lol

PanicMode · 08/03/2010 08:15

I loved Patti telling her ex that she didn't need him any more - she's such a great character (even if not remotely likeable!)

I think the Ellen and Tom thing is a red herring - in terms of a relationship - I think it's going to be due to them collaborating on the case or something, not having an affair - I don't think she'd confront his wife like that....but maybe I'm completely wrong!

I think this is Damages back on form - I thought Series 2 was a bit 'meh' after a fab Series 1.

Blondeshavemorefun · 08/03/2010 14:26

ellen wouldnt have an affir with him

but do you think she drowned him?

OP posts:
PanicMode · 09/03/2010 12:22

No, don't think so - but I think she may know who did......

I'm really loving it so far!

mumdebump · 09/03/2010 14:11

What happened to Ellen's 'boyfriend' (Wes?) at the end of series 2? IIRC he killed the bad cop before bad cop could kill Ellen, then what?
Agree with PanicMode re Ellen and Tom but then you never know with Damages...

Blondeshavemorefun · 10/03/2010 13:34

on tonight

mumdebump · 11/03/2010 09:49

OMG! How jaw-droppingly good was last night's episode? (Thanks for the expression caracaro, it just sums it up perfectly)

caffeineaddict · 11/03/2010 09:55

I was in such a state of wrapt attention watching last night's episode that I think I only breathed about twice.

I missed a couple of things - can anyone help?
Both when Ellen was with her family.

  1. What was the envelope that Ellen's sister was holding when she was crying with her mother.
  1. What did her husband do? Did he hit her? We know Ellen's brother in law is a bad 'un, but I missed this.

Very insignficant points within the whole sweep of the narrative, but I would like to know.

Thanks very much everyone.

mumdebump · 11/03/2010 16:26

I thought it was money in the envelope, hence Ellen also offering to help out with money. Not sure what the husband did, I don't think it was made clear. I think the sister is a druggie though & that's why she's not breast-feeding. Maybe the husband is too and she's trying to get away from it

anonacfr · 11/03/2010 19:05

The whole breastfeeding thing was very odd and clumsily scripted.

I don't remember any particular mention of the husband in the past 2 seasons.

GordianKnot · 11/03/2010 19:06

can i inerrupt
i missed this starting
liked series one and two was ok
is this worth getting on dvd

caffeineaddict · 12/03/2010 14:20

Thanks for replying mumdebump and anooacfr for your answers. I thought Ellen was at her sister's wedding in the opening episode.

I think this series is fantastic!

kittya · 12/03/2010 15:21

Clearly the sister is on meth and had the common sense not to breast feed. I never remembered her father as been so thuggish. Im loving this season and am glad I wasnt put of by the second one. Infact, its better than 24 this time round.

Blondeshavemorefun · 13/03/2010 23:11

Patty went to ellens sisters wedding to chat to ellen, she wanted her to choose between atending that and think an interview/see a judge - or something like that

assume money was in the envelope

and can't believe the son was going to murder his wife by allowing her to get on the plane

OP posts:
kittya · 13/03/2010 23:19

was it his wife?? I never knew that

Blondeshavemorefun · 14/03/2010 00:57

Sure she was his wife as think in 1st episode the dad wanted a word with the family and asked her to leave the room

I thought hubby wanted to kill her as she was having an affair - or have I been a dumb blonde and goty wires crossed?

OP posts:
anonacfr · 14/03/2010 08:24

It's not his wife. His wife is played by Michelle from 24- the wife and son have moved out after the son lost his apartment (2 episodes ago).

Danielle (concussion woman) is the father's mistress. She was a receptionist at his gym, they started an affair and he told her about the hidden money, hence the lawyer trying to smuggle her out of the country.
To complicate matters (this IS Damages after all) turns out that she was having an affair with the son prior to that (son was possibly already married at the time- that hasn't been clarified) but dumped him (possibly for his father- the timeline isn't clear).
She told him in the last episode that she left him before he went into rehab cos he was a mess. Considering how much he's drinking at the mo, I take it another stint in rehab might be a good thing?

Blondeshavemorefun · 14/03/2010 09:17

Bangs head

why do they make it so complicated?

Think I must have fallen asleep in the previous episode

thanks for explaining

Itsjustafleshwound · 14/03/2010 17:29

Caught up with all the episodes last night - really gripping ...

Wes/Ellen relationship ended (convo around dinner with her parents)...

Mistress/Danielle had an affair with father while she was still 'with' son. Son's mum is Lily Tomlin character ...

Does anyone think that Martin Short is miscast as the lawyer ... he just doesn't seem slimier enough

SuSylvester · 14/03/2010 17:31

so it is good then?
no on answered me

Itsjustafleshwound · 14/03/2010 17:34

I am enjoying it - better than series 2, but series 1 was still the better one ito twists ...

Saying that, I have to Sky+ them to watch when I can actually have the capacity to follow the action ...

Love your name btw .... Glee is my guilty pleasure ....
